I've got one of these and use it for listening to audiobooks and podcasts, and for doing that it's great. However I'm not sure whether I could live with it for playing all my songs. I don't think it could replace my iPhone...

I hate the shuffle. They only hold like 200 songs, and you can't see what you want to play. You have to go through the effort of going through every song until you find the one you want. it's long and tedious. iPod touch and ipod nano FTW.

@Dgamer21 You're totally right, but the iPod shuffle is not meant for playing the songs in the order you want. The shuffle's purpose it's to play your songs in different order without knowing what's next. The name says it :)

only reason ima buy this is for school. i alredy have an ipod touch but i try to put it in my sleeve and it wont fit. and with the shuffle ill pretend to lay my head on my hand while holding the ipod and earphones to my ear so i can listen to music while learning.... or maybe just listen to music and NOT learn.

Replacing my old shuffle with this one was a huge dissapointment. The earphones don't suite me and no aftermarket headphones have the controls. This also makes it hard to plug into the car stereo to listen to your own music. Apple are also anti competitive forcing you to use iTunes with this product which stops you even seeing the content of your shuffle. Dont buy it.

Why do these reviews never mention sound quality? I had the Shuffle Generation 2 and it sounded awesome. I bought the Shuffle Generation 3 and it sounds terrible! It is muffled and crackles like a 1960's record player! I am going to take it back for a refund and buy another Generation 2!

they should make the 4th generation shuffle so u sorta flick it to one side to change song, and flick it to the other side to go back a song, and maybe lean it to one side to scroll thro the songs, but have a switch on the side that locks it so it wont change songs in ur pocket

Good idea. This thing will likely 'Float' to the ground when you drop it, ha ha. I can only buy things with my weekly allowance... and this iPod, starting at 50$ for 2 GB, {500 songs} is good for me. The other disadvantage of the new ipod shuffle is that you can't fast forward songs, reshuffle the songs and connect it to an aux input. The lock feature isn't also available but is not that important since this time accidentally pressing a button is impossible.

Well, if you check the top end of the control, you can see an small opeing where the cable begins. And if you sweat a lot like me, sweat can get through the opening and into the control. Then it just stops working. Now I got to get a new one, and this time i'm gonna put tape around it.
