my university house door has won its got 4pins each with pins in them that alpha pin but this one is on you hand side of the pins and the 1st pin has a pin within a pin within a pin. and the keys a really thin. you need really specialist tools to get into one of those
@jonny71c123 Yeah, they can be bumped. There's a video on here showing it. I don't come across these locks much. 'Round here, they only put them on handicapped toilets for some reason. I guess a public toilet that's guaranteed to be clean is worth protecting
@mellowb1rd Thanks for the reply mate, i have a mul t lock garrison break secure on my doors and was thinking of upgrading to the mt5+ as im sick of seeing people bump and pick them, back to the drawing board to find something alot more safe
@uksteve1966 thats why i had the garrison breaksecure fitted but they can be bumped quite easy so im looking for a bump proof cylinder and cant afford the abloy protec may have to use the evva 3ks instead but really wanted the mt5+
@uksteve1966 Think I will just replace my upvc doors with a wooden one and a decent mortice lock they cant be bumped or snaped a lot safer than the cylinder locks
Love the design of this lock. Waiting for prices to drop so I can cut one away! I think MTL should have ditched the old telescoping pin design since it is flawed....... either get rid, or give the inner pins their own independent spring system. A nice lock though, can't wait to get one :D
Like Medecos m3, this new design's purpose is to extend the company's patent(MTL Interactive is almost run out). Alpha spring is a joke that will be easy to bypass as an Everest check pin. Telescoping pins are difficult to pick without special tools(like H&Ms) but have been picked many many times. The new feature is the springless slider sidebar. This is a direct ripoff of Scorpion's CX-5. It seems the sliders are not serrated thus I doubt the new MT5 sidebar will be difficult.
if you want to have a closer look at the sidebar/slider, you can probably remove all of the pin stacks and slide the plug right out of the front of the shell. From there, everything should be accessible. However, be careful because the sliders may try to drop out on you (springless but still).
i think we (a locksmith, somebody with imagination and skils) could build a device that could open it, i only think it`s complicated because there are many elements in a small space anyway i don`t think it could be opent by usual techniques if the lock is cheap enough i will buy one and give it a try:D
You're welcome to break into my house if you can get hold of some thermite from the thermite store, you're totally missing the point, might as well say "nuke the door. That lock is crap against nukes."
pm me when you have the thermite and i will give you my address
I hate it when they duct tape locking mechanisms together. It's a sidebar laser track lock with a Mul-T-Lock slapped on it. Divide the lock into it's individual sections and address them one at a time with decoders and variable keys.
the only problems are price, availability and well... so many things can go rong and by the way, i went to japan on a school trip and bought a 400$ magnetic lock that instead of having a key with "valleys and mountains" is flat and has different strenght magnets that push up tumblers and make no contact together, and to prevent conventional lock picking it has a thin sheet of aluminun between the to it is wut u call sick
It would take so many different tools! Those pins underneath are delicate looking and have a vertical movement axis. Those pins on top don't look as delicate but they have to move horizontally! Then there's that final "spring" thing at the end of the lock that must have to be pushed with just the right pressure.... seems like too many variables to pick.
steel butter knife(like wizwazzle makes his picks)and insert it sideway to pick the pins, then use a needle pick(like the one seen in a Schlage wafer pickset}to depress the alpha spring, and last put your tension wrench
on either the left or right side of the keyway{depending on which way it opens}with the handle facing upwards. But hey, thats just my theory.
steel butter butter knife in the shape an L ward pick{But making the stem twice as long}to pick the bottom pins,then use a needle pick{like the one found in a Schlage wafer pick set}to push in the alpha spring.Use a standard or twist-flex tension wrench on either side of the flat keyway(depending in which direction the lock opens}
wow im having problems with getting my motorcycle started again with regular locks,i would die if i had lost the key and had one of those locks

My boss and her husband recently put locks like this on a lot of their businesses, not sure if it's the same brand.
They are cool though cause one key unlocks 2 places just by putting it in facing a different direction.

Screw up one part of the key there goes about $10 you could've earn for the service.

I wish I had some tips for the CX-5; I have yet to get my hands on one. Where did you pick yours up?
jkthecjer 3 years ago
mine was a gift/challenge...lucky for me the padlock was open,so i was able to drop the core out. unfortunately, there is no key to guide me,
but the bible has screw caps so i can remove the pinstacks and try the side bar alone.
