I think a case can be made for either guy in that fight. At first i thought it was all Dunham hands down, but rewatching it i can definitely see where the judges and many other people saw that Sherk won. It was even closer than I remembered. A highly competitive bout between two guys who offered and offense form every area. Dunham threatened Sherk with chokes and Sherk held his own on the feet. Damn good fight between two good competitors.

Sherk did nothing to win round 2..first 3 minutes of that round fighters spent in the clintch where Dunham landed way more than Sherk and had 3 submission attempts and last 2 minutes was a kick boxing match which Dunham obivously won - the statistic of the fight clearly showes who was a winner of that fight

29-28 for Dunham - I have absolutely no idea how this can be argued

@kareem87said5 just comes down to how people score fights. Some people weight in on takedowns + guard passing, some people weight more on the guy putting pressure on the other. That's the problem with todays scoring criteria, leaves too many open holes. Honestly, I thought that second round was a toss up, not necessarily for pushing Dunham up against the cage though. I had to give him points on quikcly passing Dunham's guard after every takedown. On the flip side, Dunham banged him up good.

So according to that logic, passing guard should be more important than effective striking and submission attempts, please watch the fight one more time without being biased and you wont find any reason for giving 2nd round to Sherk...This is sad that for most of people, including many judges, exist a rule - just score a takedown and its enough to win a round - even though you take a beatdown before and after that, people needs to understand this is mma-not a grappling match

But the fact that he scored the takedown, passed guard, all while was getting the better of the early exchanges COULD win him the round depending on who's scoring. Please, read through what I have to say thoroughly. Never did i state that Sherk won the fight, just saying that an argument could be made. I never said that passing guard or scoring a takedown is worth more than effective striking either.

We all agree Sherk won 1st round - although I still dont know how he avoided that choke..Im sure every other son of a bitch not named Sean Sherk would have tapped in that position and Dunham dominated 3rd round - it was damn close to score 10-8 for him - the real question is 2nd round ant its all that matters

Again, I still dont see the argument for giving 2nd round to Sherk..they spent first 3 minutes of 2nd round clinch where Dunham landed waaaay more..

..Sherk did score a takedown but did NOTHING after that-didnt even land anything while Dunham had 3 submission attempts and got back to his feet very fast and landed bunch of punches in clinch while Sherk landed just several solid shoots-Sherk obivously got frustrated cause he failed to do something and after 3 minutes he gave up clinch and tried to exchange with Dunham..we all know who was better in that excange in last 2 minutes of 2nd round and that wasnt even a question

@kareem87said5 I dunno about a 10-8 for the 3rd, I think that may be pushing it. But there was no way Sherk was ever in the fight in the 3rd. I think it really just comes down to how you score it. I can see why some people think Sherk could have won the 2nd, but when Dunham started to turn it up he really was catching Sherk clean. Guess they'll just have to have another fight down to road to answer all questions.

I respect your opinion,I love your account on youtube..but what bothers me the most about this fight is post-fight interview with Sean Sherk in which he stated "I won 1st round pretty decisively, 2nd round was close, 3rd round was close.."he didnt even want to give 3rd round to Sherk lol-when he said 2nd and 3rd ones were close that means he KNEW he lost both of them, I watched this fight on live streaming and only fight in ufc that was so rigged was Hamill vs Bisping

I can see him making an argument for the 2nd, but to even say that he was in the fight in the 3rd is wack. I love Sherk, he's one of my all time favorites, but that's just BS. hahaha ah well, least he wasn't like Bisping where it was a clear cut 30-27 and still said, "yeah!! I like this guy. Humble and works hard, and he's a really skilled fighter who just muscles through every bad situation. Probably my favorite lightweight.

As for the Sherk fight... I felt like round 2 and 3 went to Dunham. They gave rnd 2 to Sherk based on "control" when it was really Dunham who dictated the fight. Sherk held on to his hips for most of the round only because Evan wasn't going to be taken down, and he ate 50 elbows in the process. He offered no real offense after the first round.

Man, Sherk vs. Dunham was bullshit. Sherk only got a couple good punches on his face which caused cuts. Dunham got up quickly whenever Sherk got him down, and he kept throwing Sherk to the fence, and he dominated him brutally in the stand up, and he had Sherk in multiple tight Guillotines.
