I always thought the whole anti-magic field generator being useless against the sorceress was because everyone else had to use GF's to get their power. The sorceress did not (or maybe she did, been a while since I played). Or maybe it only suppresses a small area, a certain power limit (meaning the sorceress' breaks that power limit and so the generator would be useless against her). The only way to know for sure is to ask whoever wrote the story
