  • SEX!

  • Floyd's Delicate Shade of Thunder Tour, think this concert was from Italy and I agree this is the best I've heard him play and is the nearest to the album version, Pulse etc veared off from the path too much........i.e man facing meltdown and looking it straight in the eye and saying come on then u c**t I'm going twat you.

  • The year is 1988.

  • @wwlloodd

Thank you, do you know who's on bass here, Roger left in '84????

  • @Lloydhl bassist was probably Guy Pratt

  • What year was this, please!

  • awesome!!!!

  • Great tone and arrangement by David.

  • who has the link for the full video???

  • @cjt89 Check ebay, sometimes there's all-region dvd's available. The one i got came from South America and while the vid is only VHS quality, the audio is flawless and sounds great all the way to full volume.

  • @gnatpiz awesome! thanks

  • i ask some people hey man you know pink floyd there like ya but i dont really like them HOW THE FUCK DO YOU NOT LIKE THIS!!!

  • ohh this was a toughie for #1 for sure

  • If there was a god he/she would listen to this song

  • duuuuude i totally agree best song and best guitar solos and the best part it has not one but 2!!!!

  • nowadays music means lady gaga justin bieber chris brown

i want the real music back like this one....

people thinks if you just listen to band then you are emo...fuck you all the haters who doesnt like this type of music..cuz you dont have fucking sense of music....this is the real music....thumps up if you agree

  • EPIC!!!!

  • what's the song called?

  • @GuitarMonkey91

    Comfortably Numb!

  • truly one of the best riffs ever....out of this world

  • @fraerot Yeah man, that riff gets me everytime...truly out of this world!

  • great times...great music

  • He could've gone on another 10 minutes. I'm stuck in the seventies, too.

  • Awesome, this and Live 8 are by far the best renditions of this song!

  • COMFORTABLY NUMB

  • It's a great solo, and I do like Gilmore's playing in general, but only someone who: a) doesn't get out much, b) is flat out too young to have seen a lot of the music in this world, or c) is a fool says things like "*BY FAR* The Greatest Guitar Solo EVER!" Really dude, chill a bit. Enjoy the solo for what it is--and it is mighty enjoyable. But learn to be a bit more controlled in your critique/praise. Otherwise your words become meaningless.

  • @Mr6Stringz i never comment on vids or reply to comments but im drunk and compelled!! im not disagreeing with ur opinion but tell me what is the greatest solo ever?? i dont know if it is technically the best ever but no song can make me more emotional and moved than this. just wanna know what u think is better solo than this and see if it will even come close to this for me. and i know its all bout opinion but im just curious??

  • fabulous

  • Which song is this ?

  • @DimoQuetRiotFun

     Comfortably numb!

  • Comment removed

  • OMG !! (Oh my Gilmour :D )

  • THIS is music

dont let ANYBODY, EVER tell you otherwise

hell, this should be our global anthem!

  • Where was made this concert??

  • Top Of Music

  • Im from the 'new wave' of hip hop music etc but this solo made me revert to rock music. honestly these shredding videos on the side of the video shouldnt be in the same universe as this let alone the same page. Rock forever

  • Let this solo be forever immortalized, played from the soul and has its own language unto itself, much unlike the shredding fret-wankers of todays modern rock.

  • This is great ,However, Mark Knopfler's Going Home is also great!

  • now this is the best ever guitar solo ever done! the best version of this song and the greatest band in the world!

  • 11 people who voted this down, dont know about music

  • sweet i was the 500 thumbs up person! i feel so priveleged!

  • For a second there I thought I was gonna get Rick-rolled.

  • grazie david.....brividi....

  • best this, best that. It is all subjective anyway such is the nature of opinion and taste.

  • u guys dont forget the best of all Carlos Santana.

  • @Otto1951able Carlos had a great ethnic sound to what he did but Gilmour real transcended anything we have in music genre. But such was the case with Pink Floyd as a whole. There really isnt anything that sounds like what they had done. Listen to Echoes or The Atom Heart Mother, or the entire Animals album and you will get what I mean, they really are one of a kind.

  • I get the chills EVERY time they make the change to b minor and the solo kicks in..

  • You know I would have never known who Justin Beiber was if every video I looked at didn't say 'fuck beiber' bla bla bla. Let it go and shut up about it. You are perpetuating the situation people

  • @chedwerks -- You're dead on the money with that one. I almost think that all these people commenting about Bieber and Gaga on videos of great music are actually stealth marketers working for UMG, just trying to create buzz! No such thing as bad publicity, right?

  • Agreed....the best guitarist on the planet , music best felt....then heard....incredible .

  • Agree! I was teaching a young kid to play guitar about ten years ago and after about 6 months he asked me what I thought the greatest guitar solo of all time was. Without hesitation I said Gilmour, Comfortably Numb.

  • absolutely the best guitar sole ever.... Noone campares to David Gilmour...He's the greatest at them all.....I LOVE Pink Floyd

  • november rain solo is the best by faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar

  • I remember watching this video, probably around when I was 11, and this was just another video of a guitar solo. 3 years and countless hours of guitar study later, I realized David Gilmour and Pink Floyd are one the greatest musicians/groups ever to play music.

  • heres a fact. what you hear on the album is his first take.

  • woaahhh ... The best solo !! no doubt ... No one can match the perfection that David produced from a single guitar ... ETERNAL !!

  • a level 99% of gituar players never reach man and music as one

  • listen to that guitar sing!!

  • @olivermichael88 Hate to disagree, but this guitar is not singing, it is screaming, wailing, crying out with unfathomable despair and tragedy. This is a mans soul flowing through wood and steel....

  • @gnatpiz when i started reading i thought oh man someones telling me off for my opinion... but you sir have expressed what i could not. fair play

  • @gnatpiz well stated!

  • OH....MY....GOD......

  • Best tour ever

    Supports:muse and u2

    Main act: pink floyd

  • Gilmor's was better @ PULSE , this was (at my opinion) from the 10 Greatest solos ever !!!

  • Gilmor's was better @ PULSE , this was (at my opinion) from the 10 Greatest solos ever !!!

  • Fuckin right!! I have thought this was his best one ever for years now and i am glad there are people out there who know what they are talkin about:)-Gilmour Rocks!!

  • i had chills through the whole song

  • this is a pure blend of skill and emotion. THIS IS MUSIC AT ITS PUREST

  • the first video I ever saw, amazes me until today. Really the top.

  • Too easy for question.

It should be : " Who plays the guitar better than David Gilmour?"

    Very difficult to say... !

  • I wish i was Gilmours guitar...this solo rocks...pulse version rocks even more, its so damn beautiful!!

  • BIG BIG GILMOUR! AND PINK FLOYD SURE!

  • Listened to this three times now. It's great along with those swaying hips of the back up singers.

  • Pink Floyd is still relevent today and dark side of the moon still sends me places no other album/cd can. They are now on my bucket list right after we see U2 in St. Louis this summer. Edge ain't bad either.

  • I get in a trance just listening, what an experience it would be to be there. My brain would have liquified

  • gilmour is the man

  • Lot of melted off faces in the crowd that night. ;-)

  • As Pete Townsend said, "It's not that Dave is technically superior to his peers. He's not. It's the WAY that he plays that's superior."

  • @barques95 I agree whole heartedly, love the quote!

  • This is the version from delicate sounds of thunder...... I think this is the greatest performance of this solo even over Pulse and is flawless, not just for a live piece but as a performance in general. Greatest four and a half minutes of musical genius that exists.

  • @pennthebaker I have to agree, it has a lot more emotional impact than the version on Pulse, which is also nice in its own way. Of course he was a lot younger when he played this show (DSOT).

  • pink greatness

  • flashbacks to freebird!!

  • 10 people cant become comfortably numb

  • 10 people likes slayer

  • what is the name of this dvd? need it

  • yep, this is y we have no great guitar solo being released these days, 99 percent of modern guiatrist think its all about speed, n they just having a speed off with eachother but actually sound like a bunch of retards, i listen to mostly heavy fast metal, but this is the defiantion of guitar solo, speed is not

  • im sorry i love stairway to heaven but it doesnt have the emotion this has this makes people cry of joy because of their wall being torn down and well it has more emotion in my belief

  • sorry but, to the title, i only have 3 words: stairway. to. heaven.

  • @1JAT1 i agree stairway to heaven solo is slightly better, ppl always say, no this has more emotion, true, but that isnt always what ur looking for, stairway to heaven solo is a flawless peice of genious, its as if every note was only invented to be played before or after the notes that preceed or proceed them in the order jimmy page wrote them, once i was so stonned listening to it in a dark room flashing a camera on the roof, n actually started screaming cause the solo was so trippy n perfect

  • @1JAT1 2 words over.....rated

  • THIS IS THE GREATEST SOLO EVER. NO DOUBT

  • Im goin to see the wall tonight, and daves only playing on one show the whole tour. If he chooses tonight im gonna freak out.

  • 9 people suck

  • fuck lady gaga, justin blieber... bring this music back!!!!

  • @caract11 THUMBS UP THIS GUYS COMMENT.

  • @caract11 hahahahahahahahah

  • @caract11 You're god damn right!

  • @caract11 this old farts can suck a duck, they are overrtated shitheads

  • @diekontrolleure

And alas we get someone who know nothing about talent.... You obviously have no idea what music is all about. Gilmour makes a solo like this look so effortless, its truly amazing. The stepping gives me chills leading through the solo...

  • @caract11 The masons and satanists control the music industry, their goal is to kill all ingenuity and culture and make us believe we are robot slaves. Music is one of the universes greatest and most powerful gifts and sets us apart from the animals. It enlightens us, awakens us, propels, inspires, heals, transforms... they want to co opt popular culture and make it meaningless and empty of life force while using it to brainwash, program and deaden us...

  • @TheGoodnessIsGood i'm pretty sure you're wrong about the masons. they're all about culture and ingenuity. i don't know much about satanists though.

  • @caract11 this video had nothing to do with either of them until you mentioned them,

  • @Dangit2019 :'(

  • @caract11 The World needs more of these guys. We want REAL MUSIC BACK!!!

  • @caract11 Bring it back!, it has never gone away and it never will! This music will stand the test of time and remain great....unlike some we could mention

  • Hard to imagine a better solo than that! I think this 'Delicate Sound Of Thunder' version edges out (Just) the 'Pulse' version. Gilmour is a guitar genius and will be remembered in years to come alongside Mozart, Beethoven etc as music legends. Just listen to that 'Dark Side of the Moon' album today and it still sounds so far superior to anything that is being produced today and it was made 39 years ago!

  • Awesome solo, but still, not even close to JPs solos in lines in the sand, hollow years (live), the spirit carries on, a change of seasons, the count of tuscany etc. etc.

  • @XJeans83X However, I never saw David covering any of those solos, yet, Petrucci has a (decent) cover of Comfortably numb. It's a difference of class :)

  • @XJeans83X

Nothing against JP, I like DT, BUT i guess JP would be proud of himself, if he'd come close to Gilmour! I know, JP might be a technicaly genius but he never got SO MUCH feeling in it like Gilmour. And remember, without guitarists like David Gilmous, there wouldn't be any guitarists like JP today!

  • I didn't know this one. Gilmour is God !!

  • PINK FLOYD

THE BAND THAT HAVE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL SOLO's EVER !!!!!!!!!!!

  • no mystery, it was bound to be this :)

    incredible

  • Whos it gonna be? Any person younger than 15 will know that its this solo

no others can even come close!!! Cant be disputed either!!!!

  • Gilmour is a God....

  • eddie van halen rullz

  • IVE ALWAYS LIKED COMFORTABLY NUMB MY NUMBER 2 1 IS SWEET CHILD O MINE

  • There is no 'best' in music I think. Because styles can't be compared.

of course you have people who are exceptionally bad or good, but there is no best.

not that this is not a epic solo , of course it is! :P

  • gilmour and van halen are by far the most talented guitarists of all time.

  • I am only 16 and this is why i learned to play the guitar !!!!

    It just amazing.

the idiots that say that is crap should go to hell and stay there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • God has spoken and it is in David's guitar playing. David is the best guitar player ever.

  • @harleya1a Don't get God involved in this. This is purely David's talent. Don't take away his credit.

  • @tteu123 you both got it all wrong..... David is god.

  • again......and again...I like it sooooo much this song!!!!! the more the years go by and the more I like it

  • I like the cover from John Petrucci, he nails it perfectly and add his style in it.

  • this is guitar playing

  • I wish this band was still going and the rolling stones be put to rest.

  • Goosebumps.

  • yah man !

  • who needs fast shredding when u can make ppl cry with sumthin like this..awesome stuff man..

  • @eree84 but if you can do both?

  • pink floyd"!!!!!

  • To poster of this video: It's OK but don't get hung up man. There's no such thing as 'by far the greatest' anything. True story: My Polish friend Greg (last name private) toured Europe playing stuff like this, winning all the big Guitar competitions. Most people can't make a living at this - no matter how good. Greg teaches music, guitar, in Ottawa Canada & raises his son. His wife recently died of cancer. There's more to life than solos like this, OK? Don't get hung up on it man.

  • you hit it on the nail motaj16

  • i knew it stairway to heaven can kiss my butcheeks

  • when and where was this show ?

  • @mestre82 it was @ venice

  • I think Gilmour outdid himself in the Royal Albert solo. By far the best CF solo ever performed, much cleaner, with more feeling, and with the Black Strat!

  • I like the one from PULSE a bit better.

  • Owns!!!

  • interesting indeed, Ive never seen this guy before? are you absolutely sure its a guitar solo?

  • @DreaminMyLifeAway yes its david gilmore dude

  • @THeBEEtleNAMEdGEORGe wow, bro, thanks, that was a shocking, completely new info for me, I am statled by the unexpected fact you just laid down before me. I can barely depict the confusion I am experiencing, that kinda turned the tide thx, man, I owe you one

  • @THeBEEtleNAMEdGEORGe It's David GILMOUR dude.

  • Comfortably Numb, mi viejo me crio con pink floyd xD..

  • you guys are all so narrowed minded...theres MANY more way better pink floyd solos than comfortably numb..expand your minds, try high hopes, marooned, echoes, only to name a few..i mean seriously..come on..its nice yes i agree, but the best?? noo..

  • @bignicker12 there's no shame in saying its the best. You can't go wrong when you label this the best.

  • awsome solo I also loved what he did on the High Hopes song especially the live show in Gdansk its incredible

  • i was at the 'pulse' tour, seen it live and still can't believe how awsome it is

  • this is fucking AWWWWWSSSSSOOOMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • is this a joke, or did you give this video the wrong title on accident?

  • PINK FLOYD FTW!

  • I agree this is a good solo, but the "best of all time?" Come on I see this all the time from Floyd fans....you know why.....because it is the only time the rock comes out in their set....you spend three hours of synth bliss, before this and of course it is going to sound masterfull.

  • @primusian

Yes, the best of all time. This kills any other guitar solo, ever.

  • you're an idiot

  • PINK FLOYD!!!!!!!!!!

  • i know nothing is perfect besides god, but at this era of humanity, i think things are starting to be perfect

  • I think everyone is taking this music way to seriously, sure it's good. But it's not so incredible like that everyone is saying, it's great. But people are just being retarded.

  • Thank you Jesus!!!!

  • can you feal it

  • @ixtroon feal

  • @supermaques right

  • Great Stuff ByThe Great Sir Gilmour, But "And The Turning Away" is IMO his Best .....

  • NO DOUBT.

  • By far, the best ever...

  • pink floyd

  • this proves that the best isnt always the fastest

  • @SkateGuitarBball when was the best the fastest?

  • @kfcchicken12 lol, i was talking to the people that think that a guitar solo has to be fast to be good

  • @SkateGuitarBball so very very true. give me this over a cock like van halen any day.

  • I bet David is high on coke while playing this live.

  • @Zodist

    who cares either?

  • I get a shot of adrenaline right about 3:06.....Do you feel it?

  • he is really an harmonic wonder!!
