I remember in military school in '70-'74 and Ozark was the big airline out of Columbia Missouri - flew the heck out of Ozark for those few years and sure liked it - just remembered connecting to "Braniff Airlines" in KC sometimes - there was another great airline!
Amen to that!!!!!!!! I wish we had local service airlines again in this country like Ozark....Im in Sterling/Rock Falls, a former Ozark city.. The flew here from 1 Dec 1962 until 31 Aug 1976...Started with DC3s here and ended with the FH-227B...Which the 227 became my favourite aircraft!!!!!
One of my favorite pictures of myself is of me at 7 years old, on the tarmac in Peoria, IL returning home from a trip with my family. In the background, is the Ozark Airlines plane I just exited. Great memories!
I flew from Joplin to Chicago in the summer of 1970 and 1971 and I distinctly remember sitting in a jet. First time from Joplin, because up to then you had the F-27s and of course the wonderful DC-3. You're a Jopolin person? I am too, but have been gone since 1971 . . . all the best, greetz from Holland
Wow! This film brings back many fond memories. I was born and raised in Joplin en flew for the first time in the summer of 1966, of course with Ozark! Was on the way to Europe. Many many times I used this airline, was shocked upon returning to the States after many years in Germany and Holland to have to board a TWExpress flight to good ol' Joplin. They're right: gone but definitely not forgotten. Greetings from Holland!
TWA didnt kill the airline though they kept all their employees and thats what made TWA so passionate.... the orignal OZARK airline employees who changed TWA
My Dad and my brother both flew for Ozark. Born and raised in St. Louis, and it sure made me proud to see the flight line. So many great memories of fun times and fun flights. I remember going to an open house to see the DC-9 for the first time. Everyone was so excited!
Flew OZ the first time in Aug '73 TUL-DAL on the 1st DC-9 in the fleet N970Z...and many times over the years until the TWA purchase...great airline...great people.
In the early 70s when I would come to JLN from Washington, DC - we would connect at St Louis (from Eastern or TWA) to Ozark flight 861 (an FH 227), and return on flight 961(?) - a DC 9 for the 25 or 30 minute flight to STL. (I preferred the FH 227)

Ozark made my family miss connecting flights quite a lot at DFW. It was irritating. But the food was pretty good.
