Mineral spirits is a solvent that will evaporate in a few minutes. Once the table is dry it should pass the "squeak test" mentioned in the video. Paste wax is made soft and spreadable by adding a solvent (e.g. mineral spirits). When spread on a surface, the solvent evaporates leaving a hard wax surface that's inert. For butcher block tops and cutting boards that have repeated contact with food, I recommend mineral oil -- avoid vegetable oils as they can turn rancid.

Is that safe? What if you put bread on table, will it get all those chemicals on it?
