I loved this and the Bacardi "My Buddy Franco" ads when I worked in a UK office job. These days I work on yachts and get to visit the sort of places in the ads.
For some reason this ad has always lingered in the back of my mind since cinema going days of the early 90's! It's great to see it again, thanks for sharing!
I wanted to be one of those lads in the billowy white trousers running down that jetty in the moonlight! What a FANTASTIC memory. Always used to rush my mates into the seat at the cinema so we wouldn't miss this brilliant ad -- which was often better than the moves it preceded! Thanks for sharing it.
Me too, but what is the music called? I phoned Bacardi years ago to find out, but they wouldn't tell me - said not commercially available. Wouldn't even give a composer.
I remember this ad but it must have been tailored for different areas of the UK. They used to play this at the UCI in Edinburgh and as it started off with the line (in a Scots accent) "Paisley on a wet Saturday afternoon", the woman was called "Auntie Morag" and the pub was the "The Thistle Bar". The Bacardi adverts have always been top notch. Does anyone remember "Ray on Reef Radio saying goodbye to his good buddy Franco"?
Bloody hilarious. God how many times did I have to sit through this ad in cinemas in the late 80s and 90s. Fond memories... Though I think I hated it at the time!
I am elated to find this ad it was so clever and I think advertising can be such a responsible job as this ad believe it or not changed everything about me, where I lived who I was, I wanted the lifestyle and hell I am 80% there now I am drinking Bacardi Alan Phuket Thailand
happy to endorse all the comments! Brings back memories of wet sunday matinees at the UCI in Clydebank. Early 90's if I'm right. Thank you very much for posting it
thank you for posting that ad thought would never see it again brings back great memories of the cannon cinema in romford. The film i remember most was backdraft at this time.
I never ever thought i would see this ad again ,brings back some great memories as well as inspiring me to move overseas and live that life.Your a legend for posting this ,cheers.
Amazing! It's more difficult to not find something on ere. Great taste in advert thanks for showing this. Reminds me of days gone by at Ewell cinema, Sadly demolished. All I need to complete this flash back is the light sound sound of Phil Collins I wish it would rain down.

Of course, in the old days they used to load it with very strong hallucinogens

lol.
I think this ad ran before every movie I saw in the late 80s and 90s. It felt like something was missing after they replaced it...

Brilliant.
1991 for ever.
The films around that time were the best to have come out of Hollywood.
You've made a middle-aged man very happy.
