  • Kept waiting for something to jump out!

  • The last car is the tender (fuel car) for ex-Canadian National 4-6-0 #1533, NH&I's primary workhorse until 1975, when she was withdrawn from service. Currently, she is stored in pieces behind the roundhouse pending restoration, and her tender here on the deadline also pending restoration

  • how many abandoned trains are there

  • this is sick could you possibly get more vids like this???

  • howcome you didnt go in them?

  • @railwaymguy that would be trespassing which he already committed by stepping up onto the coaches.

  • thear still thear and running ever day its newhope pa

  • I'd give ANYTHING to get these cars to Australia, if no museum in America wants them. They look like they're on Standard Gauge & our loading gauge could accomodate them. Perfect for a 59 Class Baldwin Mikado to pull in New South Wales!! I'll share this with my friends here. Where is this location?

  • @gregbassace1 This is in Newhope PA, I'm not familiar with that town but I live in Maryland which is a neighboring state. Can you imagine what it would cost to transport these cars to Australia? I would guess that probably whoever owns them now would be willing to sell them, but I would imagine it would involve some serious money getting them to Australia.

  • Looks similar to the car(s) my daughter and I rode in on their 'Santa Claus' run back in '98. I snapped a few shots of their locomotives standing by the repair shed back in '09. I wasn't hurried off of the property but they were bustling that day in boarding a school outing. I aim to get back there and capture some HD video later this year as the train makes its way through and out of New Hope. Thanks for putting your video up, 'Livardo'.

  • Where exactly is this?

  • those are absolutely beautiful

  • I really appreciate the effort it must have taken to get these shots. Thanks for posting them here.

  • Like Samuel Adams said, the passenger cars have parts that could be reused by private railcar owners & excursion groups.

  • wonder if the 12 wheeled loco runs(fiirst one)

  • didn't you get a chance to capture the inside of other carriages

  • could you start it

  • Is That GE C36-7 Still There

  • Comment removed

  • so shameful to see them in that state

  • If they aren't completely abandoned then why are they there? they are in great shape.

  • That is a great video! I would love to do that some day! The only remaining abandoned tracks around my area have recently been removed as a rails to trails project...depressing. I was waiting until this time of year to walk them because of the overgrowth in the summer.

  • Wow, people sure like to break glass in that area.

It seemed this was out in the middle of nowhere, but civilization is only a few feet away, huh?

    Thanks for posting.

  • fantastic

  • I would try to get in the Locomotive and fire it up!

  • @Tingintheair that's a great way to get arrested.. have fun with that. it's a felony by the way..

  • not abandoned, i went on train yesterday ^.^

  • New Hope PA?

  • Thanks for posting -- FYI, These train cars, locos and other RR equipment have NOT been abandoned...On the contrary, they are there in storage, to be used for the local NH&IL RR tourist train and / or awaiting either future restoration or sale to other tourist lines or RR museums throughout the country. NH&IL RR is to be commended for their commitment to store, salvage, restoration & sales of these rare items for future generations to enjoy.

  • that GE locomotive looks to be in good condition

  • This is amazing. where is this if you don't mind me asking?

  • Is this in New Hope PA? If so where exactly is it I live not that far from there but I never saw these trains. What street is it on or near?

  • wow. I'm glad taggers havnt found their way to these trains yet.

  • nice alco

  • it would scare the living dailights out of me if it blew its horn

  • Christmas, that heavy breathing: I had to stop watching half way through. This video is the perfect candidate for an audio swap.

  • thats a lot of cars how long have ben ther

  • i hope they restore the steam engine

  • I fail bad for that train at 3:46 it looks like some one blew it up! : (

  • aha one of the trains says ' NEW HOPE ' On the side of it . its at 1:19 lol, theres no hope for that train !

  • i'm glad theres still trains in the weeds, makes exploring all the more enjoyable!

  • gosh i wish i new where these were i would cut them up for scrap at todays prices lol :D

  • where is this at were and what state cause i visit alot of places that have this kind of thing

  • does the track go past the bushes

  • dude! you need to get some exercise! sound like your gonna keel over any second!

  • @sw8741 all those walmart chips and burgers. ouch

  • @diveplane : I take offense at your comment sir. Only Costco sells the ultra mega sizes needed for adequate face stuffing.

  • If these are the New Hope, Pa. trains, there are restored passenger trains and locomotive that you can ride on a 20 mile or so round trip excursion. I rode it with my sons several yrs ago on their grand opening day!

  • That passenger car must have been a resteraunt or classroom at one time...

  • love the summertime bird sounds. Northeast USA ? its 11 degrees here in Albany NY as I watch this. Nice vid

  • Good News, The steam engine at 3:30 was sold to a railroad in new jersey that will bring it back to life?

  • well at least it looks like their might be some hope for these old cars

  • YEAH! i remember i watched the first time you went there! i hope they all get restored, it's a shame to see all these different abandoned trains around the world...

  • what happened to these ? are they still there?

  • I think some of them are still there. One thing to note is that they use the line to store cars which they use for their "tourist train".

Some of the cars though have been sitting there for a while.

  • look up new hope and ivyland they are still in sevice and are a tourist train

  • you shoudl have gone into the seating area not just the vesibules

  • That toilet is still good.

    lol.

  • COOL!... its really rare that you will actually come across a steam engine at one of these places... hell, its hard enough to come by one of those old F-7 Locomotives from the 50s...

  • That 1st unit wouldnt happen to be C30-7 7087??

  • Is the road a old abandoned US hwy as well? Looks like old striping, the "white solid line" used back in the days when these cars / locomotives were rolling! "The day the earth stood still!" :-O

  • None, as far as i know for the # 9

the 4-6-4 is was going to be restored to runn with # 40 the 2-8-0 thats in service, but its too heavy for the tracks, so there either going to sell it or scrap it.

the last engine was the 1542 i think, it is directly behind the shop, it might be up for restoration since the 4-6-4 isn't. but i left before anything was finalized.

  • i secretly repaired and repainted a passenger car in the middle of ohio back to pennsyvania colors. It looks brand new.

  • These aren't in BC. there in New Hope PA.

I used to work on that railroad.

he was traveling north past the station .

the cars that you see in the begining have been pushed back there because they are only used when there are two trains running. the other ones are in line for restoration. the locomotive you see is #9 an 0-6-0 its been sitting there since the 70's. the tender is from #7 which was #9s sister, she was scrapped in the 60's.

thre is also two other locomotives that you don't see.

  • these are in vancouver, BC? i havent seen them b4...

  • buen video. todo los viejos acabados y aruinados que nunca ban a bolber andar y juvilados de porvida. un dia andavan y esos maquinistas lla no estan y acabo todo osidado

  • Thanks for the video. We're about to check this area out for a filming location. :)

  • there a places like this in britain they store locos an rolling stock til they can be fixed up

  • trains are spooky abandoned

  • they have them covered it's not abandoned watch out cause i live ner trains

  • watch out i live near trains also!

  • What I want to know is what gave you the right to climb up on the equipment? Did you ask permission? I doubt it since you claim the equipment is abandoned. Nice posting a video of you trespassing on railroad property.

  • It's sad that they leave nice train car's like that they just tore the tracks up in front of my house [love your videos]

  • remember, stema locomotive reclamation costs a lot, and space costs a lot, its all down to cost

  • I wonder if there is rolling stock out there that has been parked up and forgotten about over time.

  • they should try to give this to someone/place who can try to restore/reuse this, or at least have the working parts taken off for future restoration projects and the rest scrapped.

  • This should be a capital offence! Who ever did this should watch as their pretty little Corvete, is dumped in the forrest and should come back in say oh IDK 45, 50 years, somethin' like that.

  • u know what they say "one mans trash is another mans treasure" that means if i see an abandon train i will keep it!!!!!

  • lol

  • Well hell. Step right up then.

You be the someone. Why point to others and be pissed as shit because others won't do something.

    You do it.

Maybe you have the thousands or tens of thousands of dollars it takes to restore or transport this equipment (if it can even be interchanged).

Most museums are hard pressed to keep the equipment they already have preserved.

    Saddened? I can see it.

Pissed? Unless you are willing to step up, don't be.

  • The right reply, Boss302fan!

It´s the same here in Germany. The same comments: "Oh, why isn´t somebody saving those engines?" "Why didn´t someone saved this old railwayline?" etc, etc.

But when you call for help....simple help to cut free the tracks of an allready excisting museum line....NOBODY is showing up. Nobody.

The world is FULL of old rotting railway stuff. Including steam engines.

But the majority of all those thousands of railway fans is only talking. Not helping.

  • Did I said NOBODY is showing up?Allways the SAME few guys are showing up to work and to collect money.

Those are the few stupid ones (in every railway club there are round about 10 of them), who are doing all the work.

The rest of the club members are showing up, when everthing is ready. Then those people, who didn´t do anything are critizising those, who did all the work.

The "best" of those critics are of course those, who aren´t even club members and didn´t even helped with money.

  • I agree with everything you said.

There are so many critics who point fingers at others in every aspect of life.

I don't do much with historic railway equipment as I spend too much time of my day to day job working with the real things.

But what I do see saddens me. So many say "something should be done"...but very few step up to the plate. There's always an excuse.

  • The point is:

If all those railwayfans really would organize and collect money....they really could put a lot of historic rolling stock into service again.

    But they don´t.

They don´t even joining allready excisting projects to help at least with their monthly member contributions.

I know so many museum railways with rotting rolling stock. Including steam engines.

They´ve sometimes more than 100 members. But only the same 10 people are showing up to work.

  • It is truly a disgusting shame the way companies just abandon such beautiful treasures of the past that indeed need to still be used

  • What should they do, spend stock-holders money to salvage it? Or invest in more locomotives or ties so they can better move the freight they have in a competitive environment.

For me, railroads should invest in the future...not the past.

  • Yah, but when you are a preservation Railroad, or one that is in the business of preserving equipment and locomotives to create an "old time" feeling for tourist dollars. It is indeed better to spend money on salvaging then new equipment. There's a saying in this business "They don't pay to see what blocks them at the crossing."

  • I agree. My response was addressing freight railroads making this commitment. Not tourist lines. My bad.

I can understand the sentiment around the 'block them at crossing" comment.

  • Much of what he showed is still in use. The passenger car that he climbed up on that was under the tarp was at the time under restoration, and has since been completed. All of the other equipment in the video that appears derelict is slated for future restoration. The reason it takes so long is as others stated there is only so much we can do at a time.

  • Why is the C30-7 there?

  • i believe its LUGO'ed

  • We have three steam engines and a few other pieces right down the road sitting in the wood waiting to be saved. I have a video if your interested.

  • Sounds good .. upload it and attach as a video response to this one if you'd like.

  • @whatihave2do

    im intertested

  • i did the same thing near wycombe theres a train station being remoeled and down the line thers some old caars

  • Comment removed

  • It is for sale if you want it badly enough.

  • I dont, i was much different then as opposed to now, yes it is sad and all but if you dont have the money to do anything, dont get all mad and upset..

  • Ah, now we see what RR is in control here

  • looks like the the 4-8-4 loco has gone.

  • Nope.. I took the liberty of documenting the state of the car regardless.

  • where did you find those at me and my godfather found 15-20 train cars definetly abandoned

  • In the beginning that was NH&I C30-7 7087. In the green wrap (as far as I know) should be the open air coach that is undergoing restoration. Behind that is the baggage car that is used for extra seating and is used on NH&I Railfan Weekend excursions.

    -Jim

  • You probably already know 10 months later, but it was 4907 under the tarp, not the 1525 (future open car)

  • Oh. I thought the open air car was done by now. Last time I was there the only equipment I could see being restored was the boiler of the NdeM Niagara and what was under the tarp. When will that thing be done?
