  • The amount of ignorance in this video and comment section absolutely blows my mind. It would be a shit stain on the university system if a single one of you idiots have a college degree.

Glennon is right. He is an expert in the field who actually researches what he does. Everyone with half a brain knows mass-produced solar power requires IMMENSE amounts of water.

Wake the fuck up or shut the fuck up.

  • These people are very powerful. While America eats crap through FOX propaganda machine. The crap which again, they supply, to suck more money.

America open your eyes. You have everything to be sustainable and not to waste your sons and daughters in Iraqs, so that some one can be richer.

  • You could desalinate the water in the same process and kill two birds with one stone, creating water for consumption, irrigation, crops.

  • True, it gets kinda corrosive though, but there are coatings available that prevent that..Solar thermal is a complete no brainer in california..

  • Why wouldn't salinated water work in the system? It has a lower boiling point then desalinated water = MORE ENERGY

  • They are a good idea.... As long as there's sunlight.

They really need a power source which is constant for base load - such renewable types are hydroelectric and wave power.

  • Bravo! Water desalination is the future if only people open their eyes.

  • Well spotted, I see your bullshit sensors are well calibrated.

  • only in america would they try and plant grass and plants in a desert and live there lol

they cant be this stupid can they

and then moan about not having enough water

  • Plenty of lawns in Australia too

  • how we gonna run out of water the earth is 2/3 water :)

solar furnishes are very old now they made us pollute the earth for a long time to earn money we are slaves they were using them in ww2

  • the powers want to tax CO2. They cannot earn from solar light.

I know it would be better to use solar energy. The thing is that politcians do not want it because it does not generate revenue. Well, i am not sure about all the things happening behind the curtains, i can only guess. They have chosen the path of cap(italize) and trade, that generates money for the big CO2 producing companies.

  • It is a closed loop steam system. 212 Deg/f at boiling. Superheated to become 99.9% moisture free so as to not damage the blades of the turbine. The turbine exhaust is under a vacuum to entrain used steam over condenser tubes into a hotwell. Where pumps move the water to a deaerating feed tank which atomizes scrubs the water of dissolved oxygen. The water is then moved back into the feed stage and closed loop process begins again.

  • The fact that solar thermal replaces any requirement for a costly process of extracting potential chemical to kinetic energy is a convincing argument in and of itself.

But couple this idea with a desalination plant and water is no longer a problem.

  • I forgot to mention altitude. The the higher the altitude of the solar thermal plant reduces the amount of solar (potential kinetic) energy required to heat the water due to the pressure/temperature relationship based on 14.7 psia at sea level.

Additionally, geo-thermal concepts can be employed to have a natural continuous pre-heating and cooling of the feed water/steam.

  • Thanks for the comments!!
