  • THis is lovely version of a beautiful song, which originates, by the way in old Scotia, (Scotland). It has been said that the Scots invented it and Nova Scotians and Irish improved it. This version suggests they may be right, but but before you make up your mind, listem to the Hellawes RUSSIAN- Irish fusion version: lead vocalist, Natalia O'Shea, herself a a lovely example of Russo-celtic fusion.

  • <3

  • hhmmm... i don't know the old version really but all i can say is that i really miss them and it's sad to know that they have their own lives already and some of them having a solo career now but still i'm hoping that they sing again as a whole as THE CORRS should be

  • i love u hubby

  • tracy070991, You say "this is a good version of a beautiful song".

It is a beautiful song but this is not a good version of it, this is a watered down piece of crap. If you want to hear a "good version" listen to Luke Kelly or Paddy Reilly sing it.

  • i love you darling

  • Music has no boundaries and no one has a claim on it. If you like music you should be able to appreciate that it all has something to offer, even if it's not to your taste. I'm disgusted by the comments some people make. This is a good version of a beautiful song.

  • this is meant to be a scottish song and i am scottidh and this is totally crap version

  • @littlemisscaoimhe at least, it sounds a bit sick to hear a sensual female sing "oh Peggy Gordon, come sit thee down upon my knee"

  • @littlemisscaoimhe It's an old Irish song!

Don't try and steal our music. Get your own!!!

  • @CrazyInsanelikeafox I'm afraid you're sort of off on that...it's a Canadian song originating in Nova Scotia...

  • @carolmullins Really? I shall check this out. If it's true, well... you live and learn.

  • @CrazyInsanelikeafox, there have been many versions, by so many people.. I recall the first time I heard it was by a newfoundland local singer by the name of Harry Hibbs...he was not the greatest singer by any means but I felt his angst when he sang this song imploring the love of one Peggy Gordon.

    Cheers!

  • @CrazyInsanelikeafox Well, I'm french woman and I'm very happy that some people made "hommage" to the old irish song, or I would never eard Peggy Gordon which is a wonderfull song. So thank you to the Corrs. nd thant you also évidemment, at the old irish song...it's very hard, even with internet and the mondialisation to find great songs an albums of Irish Songs in France...

  • right, right rjtierney100. Luke is the best.

  • this a fine version, but there is only one man for the job and that is the undying luke kelly.

  • not great but i like the old timers better.....paddy reilly does it the best

  • the corrs, i expected worse, it's not too bad, but they really fuck up old town.

shit look at the airbrush pic.

  • the corrs, i expected worse, it's not too bad, but they really fuck up old town

  • i love this version of the song

that's all i really have to say...

  • hi would the lot of yous slagging this version of the song wise up.

everyone deserves a chance at prerforming this song, i'd like to see the lot of yous doing this song like they can.

  • one of the best melody song i have heard in my life...this is not just a song of 4.37 min ,,its more than a song for our life..which cant get them off from our heart

  • I like Sineads version and the Corries version but I hear something insincere and too poppy here for my taste ! I do like many other Corrs recordings very much !!

  • pure cheese!!!!

  • @enidsnarb Cheese?? This is a classic ballad covered by the corrs call it alot of things but its hardly cheese!

  • Sounds like a child singing! A good Robert Burns song ruined!

  • @getridofthetonedeaf -- This is a Canadian (Nova Scotia) folk song from the 1880s, best known version is by "The Corrs" an Irish folk group in circa 1996, also by Luke Kelly + The Dubliners, The Corries and many others. It's a misconception that Burns wrote it. SORRY !!!

  • I put my head to a cask of brandy.

Me head's way to big for a glass.

However, wishing Andrea was here xD

  • I'm still very sad they missed out my favourite verse...

I wish I was away in Ingo,

    Far across the briny sea,

    Sailing over the deepest waters,

Where love nor care can ever bother me.

  • She has a gorgeous voice but this is a ballad about an average joe singing about a girl...to hear a girl sing it takes away the core of the song... Christy, Shane or even friggin Paddy Reilly is better

  • @savethecommonman i can't believe you would use friggin and paddy reilly in that context. shame on you . his version is possibly the best out there and, in my opinion his version of almost everything is the best.

  • OK SONG MADE GREAT BY THIS ARTIST
