@getdrunk1990 No, 2 step or anti lag are a spark cut revlimiter, meant to keep the turbo spooled up for better launches and shifts by not letting the turbo spool down. This way you have close to constant boost instead of having to wait for it between shifts and on the launch.

Anti-lag is when the throttle is let off, adjustments to timing and ECU keep gas flowing and that gas explodes right before the turbo keeping it spooling between shifts.

you're not so far from the truth. enriching the a/f mixture on turboed engines is vital because proper cooling of the turbo is cannot be ensured in other ways. flames coming from the exh pipe can be from the rev limiter that operates with swithcing the ignition on and off while fuel supply is constant. thus some unburnt fuel gets out of the cyl. and ignites in the hot exh manifold causing turbo to keep spinning. Anti-lag systems take adventage of this process during gearchanges as well.

yeah will eat a turbo if used constantly, but only the same as hammerin a non anti-lag turbo car constantly. Because both ways make your turbo glow till it feels like dropin off. But anti-lag is all done by a map system in an ECU, thats why you can have it on a switch, theres lots of different ways of mappin the anti-lag system and with certain maps you'll get more life out your turbo.

Anti lag is what keeps the turbine wheel spinning in the turbo in between shifts so you dont have to deal with the "LAG" from the turbo having to spool up each time you shift gears. Look up some rally videos of turbo impreza's and you'll see what im talking about. Both systems will shorten the life of a turbo...anti-lag does it much quicker.
