@taylorcharlie36 That's not gears making the wining sound. It's the open belt drive. I have a 3" open belt on my Shovel and it makes the same noise. All the open belts do. They only gears in the engine are the cam drive and oil pump and you can't hear those at all.

I sold a '68 Electra Glide Police Special recently for $14,000. 10 times what it sold for new. The guy who owns it now is friggin ecstatic, finally moved up from the ricer he had. Back in the 70's and 80's a couple of California ass wipes bought up tons of the old Harley's and shipped them to Japan and Europe and sold them for 10 times what they were bringing in the states. Flats, Knuckle's, Pan's and early Shovels. Once word got out on this deal, the prices shot up on everything with H-D on it. Basket cases that had been a few hundred bucks were a grand pretty much over night. It's also why there so hard to find now.

I dunno growing up there was a guy down the street from us what had a one-lung tractor that chugged not altogether unlike this. But that's because it's idling. It's supposed to chug like that if it's tuned good. Not an insult to compare it to a tractor. It's a nice tractor chugging sound. It's an insult only if you've never heard a rear 1950's era tractor.
