  • Me: Oh look lets watch this video

After 10 mins and 34 seconds

    Me: MOTHER OF GOD

  • One of the great GREATS. Long live Gary Moore!!

  • una viola. increible,en las manos del mejor¡¡

  • GARY MOORE TO ME WHEN HE WAS ALIVE HE COULD PLAYSO SMOOTH.ITS A SHAME THAT GOD TOOK HIM EARLY.AND HE WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN

  • PS: RIP GARY!!!

  • Saw Gary live opening for Frank Zappa in San Francisco in 1970 when he was 17 and I was 16.I met Gary and his bandmates in Skid Row when they played at The Temple club in London 1971. He was the fastest guitar player I had ever seen at that point. And he just kept getting better and better... Luv, BluzCat w-^b_c^-w-->

  • When I learned of Mr. Moore death I got really, really sad and upset.

Why most of the greatest rock and blues/rock musicians have to die sooooo early?.

I knew his last albums (those blues albums).

And he was amazing and play his music from his

Now you are in good company of great musicians (such as Mr. Presley, Mr. Lennon, Mr. Harrison, Mr. Hendrix, Mr. Gallagher, Mr. Moon, Mr. Entwistte, Mr. Morrison, Ms. Joplin, Mr. Buchanan, Mr. Gatton, Mr. Allman, Mr Wright and on and on and on.

  • Thank You, Gary!

  • Maniac...R.I.P. Maestro

  • 495 Likes, 6 Dislikes...Tells me that 6 people just don't get it!!!

  • @Wizrd378 6 morons dislike this. How can you not like this? I just discovered this song tonight. WOW! AWESOME! So much feeling.

  • tears are running down my face.....

  • WOW just great one of the best that left us to soon Peace Gary

  • One of the world's best guitarists, feeling in the guitar. Have loved his music then I heard the first time in the early 1970s. I miss you.R I P.

  • The only thing that needs be said is "Thank You"

  • Saw Roy do this in 76 at the Cleveland Agora. Wish these guys were still with us.

  • Please don't compare,

    Both are great guitarists.

    Each has their speciality.

Respect them. I'm sure they inspired us.

  • Check out the version done by Dave Hines here on Youtube.....I think it ranks right up there with this one!

  • I think the roy buchanan version is much better

  • God I love this fantastic bit of guitar playing!! Legend....

  • My own preference was Roy Buchanan's original version, but Gary shows how great he is by paying tribute to Roy so spot on & then doing the Gary Moore way.

Now come on children let's not get into who's best, it's down to your own preference, but to me both were great & now no longer with us.

What a jam they must be having in Heaven?

  • Roy Buchanan's version is better because it's five minutes shorter.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!

  • I miss you.

  • @johnnylance: Roy Buchanan :-)

  • Gary, like Roy, threw so much passion into his playing and performance that it moves the soul. We are poorer for the loss of them both, but richer for their legacy.

  • I am sorry to see part of this come to a debate about Gary Moore and Roy Buchanan. As a guitarist, I can appreciate both performances. I remember the first time I heard this song by Roy as a 14 year old guitarist and it changed me forever in the fact I went blues. Gary had an interesting interpretation of the song and showed what could be done new with it. This song truly changed me forever.

  • Liking Moore over Buchanan or vice versa, is personal taste: where Gary Moore's take is more elaborate and overwrought, Buchanan's is a simple, plaintive rendition. And being Buchanan's composition, that's likely how it was meant to sound, and the one I prefer.

  • This man is something special. No one else can get his guitar to sing as he does. The fact that he can put so much emotion into the tones is just unbelievable. Almost supernatural. If the guitars have a god. Then Gery More is the God for guitars.

Wishing you were here!! Love you Gery!!! Missing you hard and painful!!!!!

  • Opinions vary, and they are just that, opinions. Including my own. For my money however, NOBODY could touch this guy. He was in his own stratosphere !! Rest In Peace Beautiful Brother Gary Moore. Thank You For Everything.

  • Great performance, though I think Roy's version was more like it, better expressing the massage of this incredible piece.

    RIP.

  • @yoni3468 crap1!!!!!

  • A great reminder of how good GM and RB were. Both great there for all to enjoy!

  • RIP Gary

  • To all the asshats that posted negative crap on this, share a link to what you've done. Oh, don't have one? That's what I thought. Sit down and stfu.

  • Listen to 'On second thoughts' by coloseum 2. gary Morre was amazing at everything he did. my pal asked him if he stole all his lickds from John McLaughlin. He laughed at us and said '"No, form Jeff beck!" We had just seen him play with greg lake and spellbind the audience .

  • this is cool, but there is nothing like the original

  • roy buchanon is one of my guitar heros, and i will say the guitar work gary moore does here is astounding

  • RIP sweet spirit...

  • I can feel each note slowly piercing a hole in my heart.

  • with all those faces the guitar must be shocking him

  • Tout simplement superbe!!!Le feeling et la virtuosité.

  • I am sorry I never got to see this man live. All credits to Roy for writing this song and performing it superbly. But Moore takes it, makes it his own, takes it to the moon and back...It is insane.

  • Incredible!!

  • So who do we have now?

  • A good cover but I prefer the playing of this song from the composer and master himself, the one and only ROY BUCHANAN.

  • God needs a guitar lesson, he took gary. I have no fear of death. because I know what I expect from God for a concert. Bon Scott. Randy Rhoads. Phil Lynott. Gary Moore, Jimi Hendrix and all the other musicians. we all meet again. who was kind to others, has free entry. who was poor, must work hard behind the stage and has no party. however, we all have a nice concert. REST IN PEACE FROM GERMANY

  • God bless Gary Moore!

  • Can't believe he is gone. This is the finest piece of guitar work ever. From every guitarist, we will miss you Gary. Our Les Pauls are at half mast! RIP

  • GUTTED......... Another great loss to music.

The greats are immortal.....but we will miss your physical precence.

    J. I. P. (jam in Peace).

  • Jeez, it was hard enough not getting choked up while listening to this when you were alive Gary!

  • Comment removed

  • Just watched Roy Buchanon play this in Austin Texas 1976 then put this version on.

Both great, both dead.Note to the three dislikes, fuck off back to your Justin Beanbag videos.

  • @sejanus4th

    ha ha great comment....justin beanbag!

  • R.I.P. Gary

  • This is his Praise to God In Strings and now Paradise!

  • I can`t believe any guitar player be it schooled or otherwise (read that jazz snobs) could ever knock this performance. Most jazz guys would never go out on a limb like this and rip yer head off with one of the most pleasing assaults on your senses like Gary Moore did. Effects? Does anybody hear much more than guitar..cord..amp here other than the verb? Man this is good listening, and I`m gonna miss Gary.

  • We're crying just like your guitar.

You made the last 25 years of my life, sound better. Thank you.

    R.I.P. Gary.

  • Rest in Peace, Gary. :(

  • RIP Great man

  • RIP man - thanks for all the great music. It is a great sadness, but the great gig in the sky just keeps getting better better, as more of the greats leave us here to plug in to their amps up there. Hopefully one day we'll all meet again, in the best festival imaginable!

  • R I P GARY FANTASTIC MEMORIES

  • Thanks for the music Gary, you'll be missed...RIP

  • The world sadly just got a lot smaller today. R.I.P. Gary Moore. Save a table for me man....

  • Taking a look at the comments, all I have to say is that I'm sick of asshats who have only played music in their basement or in front of their relatives and girlfriend who come on youtube and talk bullshit and criticize everyone.

Yes, I play the guitar and I understand what scales he plays and if he misfrets or what effects he used but can you fucking do this better man? I doubt you can.

This man inspired me and a lot of other people to play guitar so shut the fuck up you are NOONE.

  • gary had so much sole..he put it into that guitar then gave it back to us..for that i will always be grateful RIP gary

  • My favorite guitar player and musician of all times....RIP, we will miss you Gary.

  • one of my favorites died today !!!!!!! gary RIP.

  • DAMN, I had no idea that you could get Blood and non-existing frets from a guitar

    = Most impressive.

    R.I.P. Mr.Moore

  • R.I.P. Gary .... :-(

  • Oh no, God, you fucked up. Shoulda taken Bieber

  • R.I.P. Gary - you are a legend and will be sorely missed :-(

  • R.I.P Gary

  • Sorry, Roy's is better in my opinion. Roy just had more soul than is natural for one man to have.

  • @ScottMck80 More soul ? You're havin' a giraffe mate. Gary is one of the ALL time greats in rock and blues. RIP

  • Sorry, Roy's is better in my opinion. Roy just had more soul than its natural for one man to have.

  • All I know is that Gary Moore is an amazing guitarist and that this particular song does it for me!!!

  • valkour22 sucks dick

  • valkour22 plays with his weeny to much

  • Hey valkour22. Sounds like you're shit hot. How about posting a few videos of your band so we can all take some pot-shots at you?? You're probably too gutless. Wanker.

  • i play real jazz in a real band and no with drugged up wannabe's.and we dont use 5 million $ worth of effects like this loser

  • he misfrets right at the beginning on a easy as crap piece. This dude is garbage

  • @valkour22

everybody can misfrets ... if u think you can do better why aren't u in a big festival ??

    so jaleous people ..

  • this dude is like the 1000 other guitarist out thier cant play a thing without a million $ worth effects.im so tired of stupid people thinking people like Gary Moore are unbelievable guitarist! Reality check the dude is horrible nothing but effects.I used to think people like him were good until i started studying music and found out these so called guitar gods suxx when iot comes to actual music theory.Sounds like total crap and if u think diferent then go get a hearing exam

  • @valkour22

To quote you! "use your ears!' where are all the effects? Gary Moore uses only some delay and a little reverb! the rest is just drive ! I think you have a very large chip on your shoulder pal ! This guy could blow you away with a $20 pawnbroker special ! That kind of playing is in the soul !

I recon you should put up ! or shut up !! My challenge to you is "post a video of yourself playing something! and let us judge you as you do others ! you sad little man ! come on ! do it !!!!

  • @stevestratmarshall Tell me the truth do u really think this guy is good???Seriously? This is straight pentatonics with a touch of lydian at the end performed on 1 string then back to pentatonic u gotta be joking. You gotta be a fanboy cause if u cant see that then dude u have no place to say what is good music. This my friend is the bottem of the barrel in good performance!

  • @valkour22 Dude - just go away.

  • @stevestratmarshall i just watched 2 more video's of this clown act and guess what he did the same baby pentatonic scale and fing didnt even use the blue note lololol and u think this guy is good lololol

  • Dumb question but is the neck pickup in there backwards to reverse phase?

  • We played this at my husband's funeral - it was his very favourite piece of music.

    Quite simply superb.

  • @smazamataz i'm sorry for your loss. beautiful song for such a life event. hope this song reminds you of the good memories you've had with him. gary moore's songs are very touching.

  • This is one guitar player who has it all! His technique is near perfect, his tone is killer, and he has more soul in his litlte finger than most musicians have in there whole body. I've seen him live twice and he is incredible to see. Though he somtimes overplays abit, he is without a doubt one of the great soloists in quitar history! To bad he isn't more well known here in the states.

  • GM stands along side Roy himself, outstanding rendition

  • garbage for the most part ,misses the point, rock n roll bullshit ,well done tho

  • he gives the guitar a fuckin orgasm !!!!!!!!!

  • WTF !!

  • Let me see... Who else could play this song so well....

    No One!!!

Gary Moore is the best at what he does. Playing kick ass, over driven Rock Blues.

Yes, better than anyone else. Period.

  • @johnnylance not better than roy and not anywhere near as good as mike bloomfield

  • @johnnylance Roy Buchanan could play this song better...

  • @MetallicaRush101 ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh noooooooooooooooooooo he couldnt!!!!!!

  • @bullshitdetective1 he wrote it...

  • @johnnylance Sorry but in my mind..Roy Buchanan did a far better jod than Gary Moore, and that with all due respect to Gary Moore..

  • @dstephens74 i detect bullshit!!!!!!!!! you know nothing!!!!!!!

  • @johnnylance at last!!! somebody on here knows wot he is talking about!!!!!! god bless you man!!!

  • @johnnylance Now look what happened while nagging about who´s a better guitarplayer, this one died as well! Is Roy best? Gary? or even Ry Cooder? Like asking who's better, Rama or Shiva. Jesus or his Father or even the Holy Spirit. It doesn't matter. We're all mortal as it seemed. Asking me what makes this song so good? It's the Hammond organ. That sets the tone and atmosphere, giving me the shivers. For lots of songs the guitar(player) gets the credit. Fender, Gibson whatever. Hammond rules.

  • @Jan621117 I didn't start this, it started way back down the page. I just don't happen to believe that how good a guitarist is to be purely subjective. I love Roy and I really like Mike and I'm a Hendrix nut. I also listen to Jazz most of the time. But I don't know of any other guitarist that could pull this tune off like Gary did. He was just one of a kind. There are plenty of things he couldn't play but some of what he did play was pure genius. And I love B3s: my brother has three of them...

  • @johnnylance I know. You can dragged into something that wasn´t the purpose. I agree, the way Gary did this piece of music is an additional approach to Roy´s more basic work of art. I´ts just that some people think they know what´s better or best, but in that way comparing apples with pears. Some like apples, some like pears. But even worse, some feel the need to show their dislike by voting thumb down on a masterpiece, or on something they are not interested in. if not interested, don´t vote!

  • @johnnylance "There are plenty of things he couldn't play........."

Believe me, he was able to play ANYTHING!!

  • @johnnylance Roy Buchanan owns this song. While Gary Moore is superb, he doesn't capture the song like Roy.IMO.

  • @johnnylance perhaps no one could play it as well...since the incomparable Roy Buchanan is no longer with us.

    "Period"

  • @Rpaulie53 Oh my. I see Mr. Moore has passed as well...RIP

  • @johnnylance , Sorry mate, but the version of Roy Buchanan is better. His particular sound fits perfectly with this song

  • Une des plus belles toune du monde.....

  • what a rich vibrato, this cat's just dripping in tone!!!

  • The Messiah is already here, and he's playing a gold Les Paul (isn't that the one Peter Green once owned?)

  • nice! not Roy Buchanan, but there was only one.

  • This was a great tribute to a great guitarist, Roy Buchanan and one of the best performances by a guitarist that I've ever heard.

  • Gary Moore is definitely one of my favorite all time guitarists... and his tone is to die for!

  • You can find this on cd. I've got it. Can't remember the cd it's on. But it's out there.

  • @lsudude66 I think you may find the CD is called After The War

  • And for me, having jazz aknowledge, he's the best, and he plays great, perfectly live or on studio. Theres a song when he was 16 or 17, in 69, "sign on my mind", by the band Dr. Strangerly strange thats resume all his high level playing guitar! And his vocal is marvelous hugs for all

  • Great video, great song. Gary Moore is one of my all-time favorite artists. His versions of this song have always paid excellent ribute to the late Roy Buchanan.

  • yep, one of his classics, well buchanan wrote it - but on a par with loner nad blues for narada I think

  • So is this where the scorpions got the idea for still loving you? maybe after hearing the original by Roy Buchanan. Credit given here to Mr Moore he is amassing but sometimes less is more.

  • So beautiful

  • Great performance

  • This is a man possesed? in a way id like 2 be? Can use fuckers all shut up and enjoy this? Im sick of every vid i watch sumthing wrong etc\?? Well if u can play like this post it and shut up?This is educational, we all know its not an original? Thia is awesome, end of? ENJOY...

  • where did you get this from, wow - I only just heard Roy Buchanan - I think both are exceptional for different reasons, the original is great, played clean - I think Moore has such exceptional technique - so equally I like both - superb song, which I am learning

  • @guitar1977 This can be found on his Montroeux DVD. I don't know if it is available on any of his CDs. It is awesome isn't it?

  • INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!!

  • AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • The subtly in the notes is what makes this song beautiful.

  • how can any one say either is better...

    Both are soulful.

I just prefer Roy's delicate -soul playing. Roy uses no distortion too.. I always prefer clean :)

No need for negativity.. but Parisienne walkways owes a lot to this song too :)

    Both heroes though :)

  • ooops I hit the thumbs down button. My bad.

meant to hit the thumbs up.

  • how does he achieve that tone at 6:30?

  • @DistortedV12

Thats done by hitting the string with the volume turned off and then quickly turning it up again. Roy did that in several of his songs - Sweet Dreams . . . .

  • @DistortedV12

Thats done by hitting the string with the volume turned off and then quickly turning it up again. Roy did that in several of his songs - Sweet Dreams . . . .

  • @armsby figured it was a volume swell. Sort of sounded like a sax. haha the man does it so well.

  • and to think rollinf stone magazine have not rated him in the top 100 guitarists of all time , are they mad !

  • Cuz they all fucking stupid retards, i hate that list of top 100 guitarist of all time. It's sucks!

  • @CherayBlues ya just gotta look at it as a list of good guitar players in no particular order.. then it won't piss ya off so much.

  • @CherayBlues ya just gotta look at it as a list of good guitar players in no particular order.. then it won't piss ya off so much.

  • So amazing... so much passion...

  • Not bad, but I like Roy Buchanan's original version much better. I understand that musical tastes are subjective and there really is no right or wrong here, but in my opinion, Roy Buchanan is the best of all time. Seeing him live was such a treat! I like Gary Moore a lot, and he does a great job, it's a real nice tribute to Roy!!

  • After reading your comment i had a listen to Roy , very good . but sometimes covers are better , this is one of those times , Gary's tone and flowing style is amazing

  • Totally disagree, but like I said before, music is very subjective. I've been fortunate, having seen both artists live several times, and while Gary Moore is an excellent guitarist, Roy Buchanan would have blown your socks off. There are also many different live versions of Buchanan playing that tune, so it depends on what you have heard. Nobody compares to his studio version. Have a great day!

  • @Dc328 I've heard them both Live, and I have to tell you Gary is just a better guitar player. That said, there is no reason not to love Roy... I'm forever sorry that he was hell-bent on self- destruction. Gary is not in such great shape either.

Lately I've been amazed by Bireli Lagrene. He may be the worlds greatest guitar player...

  • @johnnylance sorry johnny, I vehemently disagree. I have also seen both, in fact I;ve seen Gary Moore more times that Buchanan, but he never impressed me as much as Roy. Moore is not a better guitarist. This is a nice cover, but in noway is it better than the original. I have nothing against Gary Moore, or I wouldn't have gone to see him 5 times, to Roy's 3. Again, as I've said before, music is very subjective, I like the Stones, you may like the Dead, not a problem, just the way it is:)

  • スゲ~~~~ッ!!

  • no better messiah i heard before. the man has everything. perfection, soul, voice - and an endless feeling!

    He is kissed by god!

  • This was a TRIBUTE to Roy you morons.

    Not a contest!!

Every soul has it's own unique form of expression.

And that's all music is when it comes to the individual.

Then ya got this american idol bullshit, teaching kids it's all a contest.

    Fuck I hate pop culture..

    With an envy.

  • @SnakeSSSStretcher

you just hit the nail on the head,..

i liked the way roy said it,..: " there is no such thing as number one, but i love you for thinking about it"

  • come on! your kidding? this guys dosent make you smile? wow to me that is what music is about... make you smile/cry its emotion .. i love both versions moore/bucannon both great

  • Comment removed

  • people who say this guy sucks dont not anything about music...

  • The usual bloated excess from moore, Why did he bother?

  • Gary is good guitarist, but his version compared to Roy's is just crap!!!

  • I've listened to both, and I agree Roy's version is excellent, but so is Gary's, he just plays in his own style.

  • Yup, you're one sick puppy who probably jerks off to this guy and has nothing better to do with himself (because you're probably fat and ugly), ans spends time polishing his rocket to this Moore. Make sure you don't get any on your keyboard.

    Get help asshole.

  • This is great fun. I have not laughed so much since your mum showed me your photograph. Ask yourself this oh great sage of the blues. If Gary Moore is so bad why did BB King, Albert Collins etc agree to play live with him. He was not supporting them, it was the opposite way about. Listen to the comments THEY make about Gary's playing, they at least know what they are talking about. Now it's past your bed time, off you go and remember to wear your wank sock. Tell your mum I'm asking for her.

  • Look you moron...

This is a free country and I am entitled to my opinion - or am I going to fast for you?

Obviously, your infantile behavior speaks volumes. Do you always resort to cheap shots when someone disagrees with you? - if so, you've got issues, so get help ok?

Comparing BB King to Gary Moore is an insult. Almost every great guitar player today will tell you that King, among others, influenced them. How many great guitarists of today say that about Moore??? none!

  • Sorry I took so long to answer I was in bed with your Mother. She was complaining of her backward son who persists in living in the past. Since King was older than God's dog, it only follows that years from now guitarists will say that Gary Moore influenced them. So off you go and play your 78's. I will now call you MUDDYWATERSROBERTJOHNSONSOLDMYSOLETOTHEDEVILBODIDDLEYBBYOUAREMYHEROLIVINGINTHEPASTPRICK. Off you go now to your attic room like a good little boy.

  • Jig, Peter Greene said M

  • Jlg, Peter Green said Moore was the best guitarist he'd played with when Moore was oly 17. Jack Bruce still says he's the best guitarist he ever played with. Steve Vai once named him as his favourite soloist in Guitar World. Yngwie Malmsteen regards him as a perfect stylist. He was one of Rany Rhoads favourite players. Albert Collins and Albert King were both effusive in their praise of Moore. Those are failry good, not to menitoned varied, references.

  • Comment removed

  • @BrainFPatterson I saw him play in 1975 with Thin Lizzy and he blew my head off. Still does

  • @BrainFPatterson He has been my favorite for several years. The dude truly has control of a guitar.
