  • evvoo feel the same way :( and im only 15... all the new songs and stuff are ok? but like bon jovi, the las, van halun.. all these i love them

  • I don't understand pple liking Bon Jovi AND The La's.... even just taking the music aside for one minute & looking at it from a philosophical/cultural view they are light yrs apart.. BON JOVI's philosophy: "Lets make millions selling out to the highest bidder with souless overcommercialised slickly produced teen fodder that doesn't say anything & is pure American Corporate Rock". The La's: Indie Brit Rock/Pop that's artistic , well thought out , fine melodies , have a subject matter etc....

  • yeah i dont get it either. Bon Jovi's just absolute shit thats sold heaps but has no meaning or soul, while the la's are the opposite, genius thats sold very little. The Selector? Wouldn't happen to be fan of the 2tone band would yer.

  • Grew up on Two Tone. That era in British music from mid 76 to mid 82 was probably the most exciting and creative ever....Pistols , The Jam , Buzzcocks , Joy Division , Two Tone , Elvis Costello , Mod & Ska revival , New Wave ....etc... list goes on and on...great time...influenced all the good music in the 80's and the come back of British music in the 90's.

  • Love the La's, shame I'm only 17 an missed this era "/

  • Telegram20 You need to smoke a bit of puff and chill the fuck out ffs, I thought it was only religious fruitloops that were so full of anger ?, obviously not "militant atheist" lol.

  • I cant understand: This is not the lps sound. Were they so upset with lilywhite that they record the song again without him???? . Sorry the english, si alguien los sabe que responda please

  • love this song!

does anyone see relation between the first go-betweens sound and this????

    anyway..great!

  • If he sang in my face in a subway tunnel like that I would punch him in his minstrel face

  • the rythm guitar guy changes.

  • I couldnt get this track to grow on me..I got the 12"...the Bside's arright though....this track is missing a good solid chorus is all

  • If only Prog Rock sounded as good as this! Fantastic Band. Sadly missed.

  • is it chris sharrock on drums? great song btw.

  • doesnt look like him...but im not sure who it is

  • like this one more than the album version

  • finally....somebody who agrees with me!init just...way more punch to it!

  • i think every live version of every song by them is better than the album!

But this Sound here is very special, very ...yes "punchy"

listen to the "the La's BBC in Session" CD, if you didnt yet!

  • yeah got it,its a more acoustic affair if i'm not mistaken!got loads of em..bbc,mike hedges version, live in sheffield, dublin, shepherd's bush,(dvd),breakloose, callin all demo's..have you checked the kitchen an crescent tapes/they're on here..how good is that 'was it somethin i said'?

  • i finally saw this in my vinyl fever record store, me and my dad were like there's something you don't find everyday.

  • its a rare one, better than the album version by a mile...paid 26 quid for my cd copy, would have bought the red vinyl version, but i dont have a turntable!i had it on the japanese singles collection by the way if you were wonderin!

  • i remember "the feve" in tallahassee....we need one in miami.

  • there isn't a better debt album that has ever been made! definatly maybe was a great album and to this day is probably the second best debt album but there is only one the la's (album) and i wish they would make another one!!

  • Something in the water over there in Liverpool obviously.

  • go 'ed mavers!

  • too right...its criminal that he's not done more!all this cant get the recordin to sound right stuff is all a bit mad init!surely he could?

  • BEST SONG EVER

  • really good tune, underrated band of all time, probably the best band though

  • am tellin u this that i dont aim to miss

  • If I were banished to a desert island and could bring only one record, this would be it. After 18 years, this would still be it.

  • ABSO-BLOODY-LUTELY! I second that wholeheartedly.

Bands knockin' about these days could do with taking a few song writing lessons from this lot!!

  • yeah, either this or sandinista by the clash because its so fucking long. the la's were so underrated and they wrote songs just as good as the beatles or t rex

  • Never saw this before. Excellent. Cheers.

  • I bought this as a 12inch on GoDisc - brilliant. Saw them upstairs at a pub in B'ham playing to 30 people. Saw them loads, great band, wonderful vibe to them.

  • fucking hell!

  • yeahhh 19 seconds lee mavers kicks the symbol.. i love that guy

  • The La's music was meant to be authentic, rootsy and real so why have they got some fucking idiot novice to produce these genius songs? 3 times they chose clinical production over true music. The live versions of these songs should be sent to all record execs of how your crass and commercial attitude ruins the power of music

  • terrible comment

  • lee mavers is truely a lost genius, he would be welcomed back with open arms if he wanted to record an album..... hell lets all club together and pay for the 60 recording studios it would take for him to find the right one!!! every genius has to be slightly mad, lee is so good he's off his rocker :-)

  • I saw them perform this up close at Manchester Polytechnic on Halloween night 1988. Lee Mavers is one of the great lost geniuses of british music.

  • Damn these boys r good.. how in the hell did i miss them?

  • you can get this version on an early 1987 release on 7" and 12", I have the 7" and got it from ebay, look on the net, Vinyl exchange is great for this type of thing. Brilliant song, this is the best version though, no argument la.

  • easy the best version of this tune!my 4 yr old girl knows every word!thats wot u want!!!!swansea city fc!

  • grow up

  • ur mom

  • yay for slipknot! you want to hear some lunatic in a mask scream down a microphone just cause he hasnt got anything like the voice of lee mavers? then listen to slipknot! and the guitar is nice and quiet and melodic as well!

  • ur gey

  • sound la

  • where can i get this version of the song?

  • lol Brilliant .

  • this is the single version right?

  • how much has james skelly ripped this look!

  • lol i reckon lee looks like a young jason donovan here, musta been a neighbours fan.

  • just what i thought!

    but they look similar anyway

  • nah... he's just Noel Galleghar with blonde hair...

  • noel gallagher has dissapeared up his own arse asnt wrote a decent tune since 98

  • agreed maybe hindu times was nah ok you are right oasis copied the las or were influenced i think oh yeh

  • whats so good about the lyrics in hindu times? noel Gallagher=genius

  • i agree he is a genius

  • yeah oasis were influenced of the La's, also the stone roses big time.... try this unreleased song from oasis in the early 90's.... Oasis- Take Me.... sounds sooo stone roses-ish

  • hey thanx im glad there is someone who knows music ..ill take a listen cheers D

  • wat did u think then??

  • ronson is a bellend full stop..whats the fuss all about anyway, and why is his name even being mentioned?whats he actually done?shit kaiser chiefs covers, they're total shit anyway end of!

  • i have that la's sign in my room done it with black tape looks boss :D come on mavs give us a toon or a new chord :D

  • mark ronson is a prick..i'd brick his house!why you lot arguin on this page?have you forgotten that this is the best version of this song?if not..argue about the cock on another page!

  • Ahh the Huyton massive !! awesome band and songs...anyone know if they are back together in 08 ??

  • These guys are so amazing! I swear, I've never heard anything so original! "Way Out" is probably like my favorite song...EVER!!

  • best version of this is on the bbc sessions. absolutley class tune!

  • the la's are AMAZING! the songs are so well written that they could play them using nothing but a jew's harp and a badly tuned banjo and they'd still sound incredible. this version is better than the album though

  • This is the 80s version. This song is also remastered on there Remastered album xD

  • they gave all they got

touched by the hand of god

  • This is nothing on the album version

  • i think mavers went a little too far in his quest for perfection! i mean this is a good version but i was brought up with the album as is and i was not disapointed! mavers walked into one studio and wouldn't record as it didn't have the original 60's dust on it! feelin, way out, there she goes, timeless melody and so on may have been different but i love it the way it is!

  • Hey I'm a new La's fan and am kind of clueless as to where all these different versions of their songs come from. Anyone have a comprehensive list of releases they can spit out? I friggin' love this version btw.

  • is it bad that I prefer the album version of this song?

  • r u female?

  • No I'm a fella. Why the curiosity?

  • this version is too bright, dont really like it, sounds to airy, too much reverb

  • this version is too bright, dont really like it, sounds to airy, too much reverb

  • Music is freedom...look at me...I like better Mark Ronson's Stop me version than The Smiths'version...

  • oh dear

  • oh dear oh dear oh dear

  • oh my.

  • forget all the "oh"ing, you sir are what is commonly known as a douche bag.

  • Did I offend you or attacked you in anyway? You can agree or disagree but I think the "douchebag" was totally out of line...I might be a douchebag but at least I respect people's opinions. Yes I could go in a useless childish interchange behaving like you and go "no,you are the douchebag" and then you will go "no,no...you are"...and we can go like that for eons...but I think attitudes like this are such a waste of time and do no good to your pedant image...

  • so you do admit that you're a douchebag? i'm glad that's cleared up then

  • Coward...you didn't even respond to the comment so I could notice you wrote back...you just left the comment there like a sneaky rat...miserable,you need to say no more...

  • who are you talking to?

  • what the feck? yeah i did! you fucking cunt

  • Well said still think you were talking rubbish about Stop me though

  • mark ronsons version of stop me is better than the smiths?

martiriobaby if i ever meet you i am going to beat you like sunny beat cher.

  • Did I say Ronson's cover is better?No...I said "I like better"...learn to read before threatning people...macho-man

  • give me your address i'm going to brick your house and strangle you

  • 21 and yet so narrow minded...such a shame...

And I wonder how you gonna get here?Skating?

  • douche-bag

  • you don't even dare give it me you dirty spaniard. i'll give you a permanent siesta. give me your address

  • not you again

  • Totally agree with Gaurn. Seen The La's many times and the live sound was amazing. Really dissapointed with the sound on the album but this was the 1st single and much more like the live sound. I thought this was the classic line up aswell

  • Shit ~~~~ this is fabulous... too bad I missed it long ago...

  • The best version of this song is available on The La's BBC In Session. It's the second track on the album.

  • You can begin to see where Mavers is coming from in his disgust for the album. This version of Way Out is in a different league to that on the album. I think the album is very good but it could have been so much more

  • The La's made 1991 a great year for music. Great band that never really got the recognition they should have.

  • never heard this version before, likin it

  • twisted sound like stackridge.

  • woooooooo

  • Yes a rare version that is not on the album.

  • When you say weird...do you mean the accent...where are you from?...Lee Mavers is a great and natural singer....I'm not having a go...just curious???

  • bloody brilliant

  • It's all can do not to sing this way out loud on the bus in the morning when it's on me walkman. I heard Mavers recorded the whole album again. This ain't the album version, but it's still ace! Where you find this Starsurfrider? Cheers anyway mate. Made my day!

  • Awesome.

  • This is class, more catchy than the Plauge! Quality give it all ya got!

  • let my monkey go -- yes, this is a different mix than the album version. the wikipedia entry on the La's talks a lot about all the different sessions with various producers. this version of WAY OUT was actually their first single. "It was praised by The Smiths' frontman Morrissey in the music magazine Melody Maker, but otherwise went generally unnoticed. Five thousand copies were pressed, making it a sought-after item for La's record collectors."

  • anybody know where I can download this version?

  • or any La's songs

  • Hey! This is a different mix than the album. I loved this album and for years never knew what they looked like.

  • Just wow. The memories! I love these guys!

  • Don't get me wrong, I like both The Beatles and The La's, but to compare this tune to If I Fell...?..I'd say it's more on a par with Ringo's "Don't Pass Me By"! P.S. Stop smoking your belly button lint.

  • I know they aren't a current group bvut Oasis could do a bunch with these people

  • they did

  • give me one last kiss before i walk out of this

  • This album is one of the best releases of the past 20 years. Great influential album from those snotty Brits, love it!!!!

  • I have had the priveledge to see over 400 bands live over the course of my life...I saw the La's in Chicago in the early 90's and it is still the finest show I have ever witnessed. The music was fresh, incredible energy and a genuiness about the way they performed. Absolutely amazing.

  • simply brilliant - and the reverb makes it ethereal! The end is strange!

Best melody since "If I fell", by trhe Beatles.

These guys need to come out of hybernation, and make music! Awesome!

  • Absolutely the finest hook, and melody since "If I Fell" by the Beatles! Mesmerizing! Simply put: Brilliant - and the reverb is what MAKES it! It sounds "other worldly"! Awesome! Like honey! Too much makes one sick...

The King was in the garden picking flowers for a friend who came to play...

  • i've got loads of different versions of this and i stand by what i said.this is easily the best.nuff said.swansea

  • the vocal sounds much more alive and up for it than the album.sounds like mavers is enjoyin singin it,and the acoustic guitar sounds shit hot.sheps,swansea.

  • Amazing. I love it.

  • A great video when the la's where fresh

  • Whaaaaaaaaaaaat! This is boss, good one for puttin it up mate.

  • unlike the other La's songs on YouTube, this one is not as good as the album version...

  • definitely the best version of this song by a country mile.

  • I prefer this to the LP mix (maybe because I've heard it a lot less, and it's still novel). I like the vid a lot, too. Was Mike Badger sill around at this point?

  • No thy had paul hemmings hear man

  • such a tune, the single version though, not as good as the album, great vid though.

  • Fantastic videos La, Go-Discs, second best band,

  • weak compared to their other singles

  • your havin a laugh mush,it's fuckin brilliant.

  • i think this is the original single version, recorded before the album version. It's slightly more representative of what the band wanted but reverb kills it, as it did many other songs in the late 80's

  • I love ths song, did they remix the song for the single? It sounds terrible with all that reverb.

  • Great Song, Great Video

  • I love this tune,man.
