  • this is the first steve via song that i have ever heard and i didn't expect his voice to be like that and i didn't expect it to sound like the brother bear sound track but in a rock style.

  • Very boring

  • Guys, this is fake. Youre being fooled. Vai is much better than this...

  • EPIC! Awesome band too!!

  • the beginning part was very devin townsendy

  • thumbs up if eddie van halen better????

thumbs down if steve vais better

  • A skilled technician. A horrible musician.

  • love vai for his guitar skill....but not for his state fair vocals......lol...

  • I don't know how this old phoney gets away with this complete tosh.

There are a thousand guitar players out there who are bettter than he is, and John Mc Laughlin was doing this sort of stuff 40 years ago, and twice as good, with Mahavishnu Orchestra, likewise Jeff Beck.

Even Satriani was doing it way before Vai.

This guy is a complete self-invention...in blue eye shadow.

    Awful turgid dross.

  • @beachhutblues funny satriani was playing brfore vai seeing at he TAUGH HIM!!!!!! listen to some of his other music lotus feet is a nice one if you in to orchestral accompaniment he did a concert with the holland metropol orchestra is a very awesome dvd :)

  • @osllo28

This is such a stupid comment that it doesn't even deserve a reply.

    So I won't.

  • 1st neck- 12 string

    2nd neck- 6 string

    3rd neck- Fretless

Yeah...not just for entertainment, but mainly the different sounds.

  • Mediocre at best, not a source of inspiration at all. If this is the best this fella can do, than he is highly overrated, which comes as no surprise. If you want to listen to a guitarist that was as one with his guitar, a true extension of his instrument, try Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix, yes even Eddy Van Halen.

  • @esv123

yea ok stevie ray......fag not even close dude go kill yourself

  • this is the kind of stuff that makes me wanna play guitar

  • OH YEAAH.... Satriani Influence since Joe was his teacher.

Steve Vai is an AWESOME Guitarist. just Fucking Awesome !

I have a Doubleneck that I LOVE to play. both are different sounds. it great !

you guys gotta try one sometime it's SO f cool.

  • Damn he looks like hes orgasming too!

  • Why does the intro remind me of The Crow?

  • I have got only one guitar :(

check my solo for a italian contest for guitarist!

    youtube.com/watch?v=NIU-YP4G-kU&feature=share

  • Só um polvo consegue tocar essa guitarra direito KKKKK

  • NOISE!

  • big fuckin deal!

  • When I can't sleep, I listen to Vai playing with his 3 necks and fall into sleep. This was boring, with no groove, this is interesting only for 14 years old, who know only 3 guitarists (Vai, Satriani, Ingwie). Watch those links below and many other guitarist who have tube amp and one neck and play music not the guitar lessons.

    /watch?v=Qp4WS1S32F8

    watch?v=DX92oKySB5M&feature=related

    Best regards, Bassist

  • He makes me look like total shit as a guitar player...I just wanna lock it up in a closet for a month XD

Wish i could be anywhere near his skills.

  • PLZ DONT FEED THE TROLLS

  • dear steve vai' , i dont know much about u, i know you a realy good guitarist and your pretty awesome and all, but can you please close ur mouth when u solo

  • @DreDoggyDogg24 He's Steve Vai. He can play however the fuck he wants to play.

  • @DreDoggyDogg24 watch robin trower he is the worst when it comes to that check this

  • @DreDoggyDogg24 Lol dangit now I can't watch this without getting enraged at his weird mouth movements. (Almost kidding, awesome solo)

  • @DreDoggyDogg24 u don't get it, its like telling someone to keep a straight face and not make a whisper while having the best root of their life.

  • HIS SOUND IS VERY SIMILAR TO JOE SATRIANI (ONE OF STEVE'S TEACHERS)

  • Looking cool is for pop "musicians"... Vai plays in another league, in another planet... is a MUSICIAN. That's simple...

  • the comments section is full of 12yo retarded haters. what is this world coming to...?

  • ??? a three headed guitar is not necessary

  • @morrisman64 Can you think of a better way to play a normal guitar, a fretless guitar, and a 12 string at the same time all the while running different effects and tones through each set of pickups at the same time? If so let me know.

  • Steve Vai!

  • @TheYoussef226 point exactly!!

  • ok this has bored me long enough waiting to see the point

  • BAD HORSIE

  • Comment removed

  • this sounds like rat shit satriani and malmsteen are waaayyyy out of this guys class

  • Hendrix did it better with one string than Vai with 3 necks or Michael Angelo Batio with his double guitar... Just my opinion...

  • yawn

  • @4:36 invisible dick

  • @jharr296 HAHAHA

  • What's the point of the other 2 guitars? he's practically just playing the middle one the whole goddamn time. Unimpressive solo, unimpressive sound, unimpressive skill.. unwarranted dick wagging. This video is right out there with Coheed And Cambria's "Welcome Home" dude has a double but plays (or pretends to play) only one guitar the whole time.. Come on, open your fucking eyes you gullible pricks. :/

  • @avnaok Have you ever thought that the 3 necks might just be because each one gives a different sound? Not just because he wants to look cool? Its for the musicians sound, not look, if it was for the look then he'd play all 3 at the same time, which obviously no one can do because no one has got 6 fucking arms. Guitarists do this because its easier than switching guitars mid-song every time they want a different sound, use your brains, retard...

  • @aprioridrummer1 it looks fucken stupid...i think its an ego thing totally...

  • @aprioridrummer1 Oh lookie here : O! UMAD son!?!? You still fail to address the fact that he only plays one the whole time, and switches to top one for about 10 seconds. At least 1 of those necks is a fucking prop and you should know better.

  • @avnaok neither of them are "props", he uses all of them at some point because they give different sounds, he uses the 12 string with the lyrics because they trigger a synth pad, and the fretless one a few times too. He might only be using one MOST of the time, but he would still have to change guitars 6 times, if not more, if it wasnt all combined into one guitar. and thats just for this song, nevermind the rest of the gig. you seem to fail to understand that its just more convenient

  • @aprioridrummer1 it's still a crock of shit. He could have used a pedal setup. He's just showboating with props.

  • @avnaok Or a Keyboard? or another guitar on a stand? he'll just get called pretentious no matter what he does. "oh hes so up his own arse for playing keys aswell as guitar", "hes overrated because its not that hard to play another guitar on a stand". People like you just find any excuse to bitch. Im not even a massive fan on vai, I prefer satch personally, but it pgrinds my gears when little kids find any excuse to cry about artists, brings my piss to the boil.

  • @aprioridrummer1 LMAO, Y U SO MAD? Seems like an awfully infantile response to an argument. Mr. Ihatelittlekidsthatdisagreewithme. Pedals are hidden from view. Its entirely different. He's just showboating with props to compensate for his lack of skill.

  • @avnaok Pedals dont magically make a guitar a 12-string, or fretless. i dont hate people that disagree with me, theres a difference between a conflict of opinions and just plain ignorance. Your "lack of skill" comment is proof of that. Its fair enough saying you don't like his music, i won't disagree im not interested in his music, but to say he doesnt have skill just because you dont like him, that is the infantile response in the argument.

  • @avnaok i dont have any beef with you personally, but i know alot of people that decide that because they dont like an artist, then that makes them crap musicians/songwriters. It gets to me that some musicians work their asses off just to get called shit by some snobby wannabe "musician" that loves themselves. I aint callin you a snobby wannabe, or saying you love yourself, i dont know you so i cant. People just need to know when an artist is "shit" and when theyre not their style.

  • @aprioridrummer1 Absolutely! And also so he can play with different tunings. In really irritates me when idiots assume its all just about posing! I saw Steve Vai perform this live some years back and was blown away, and that's from someone who is not a great fan of this kind of thing. I absolutely respect Vai. He maybe a showman (so what?), but he is also a dedicated musician.

  • @aprioridrummer1 I've seen this live at the Grove of Anaheim, it's amazing. Being a guitarists of many decades I left the show feeling as though I was in the presence of the creator, period, nuff said...

  • @aprioridrummer1 Steve has the lower neck in "E major" tuning. Plus it's fretless giving smooth note slurs. The top neck is a twelve string - he has that tuned to D major. So he alternates the top and bottom necks, making it sound like a rhythm player changing chords from E to D and back and forth.

  • @avnaok Okay. Dude.

    1) The other two necks on the guitar are there IF he wants them. Nowhere is there a law of guitar solos that requires him to constantly use all three necks. They are merely a convenience.

    2) Unimpressive skill? I'm not the biggest fan of Vai, but the dude is a guitar legend nonetheless. Don't be condescending towards anyone on YouTube unless you have the video to prove that you are better.

    3) ...Did you really just compare Steve Vai to Coheed and Cambria? ಠ_ಠ

  • @SixStringsBroken Okay, Dude. @1) The other two necks are there for showboating.. it's not like he forgot all his other guitars at home. @2) I'm judging this video only, and it's unimpressive. Whatever else he does is irrelevant to me. @3)I'm comparing the use of multiple-neck guitars for showboating such as that in video clip for "Welcome Home" by Coheed and Cambria, not the goddamn band in general.

  • @avnaok stop trolling on a legend's video. Either you listen and stfu or get out. And if you keep trolling then let me say then if you think he is showing off then how come your not famous and called a legend? He is one of the best guitarist for his taste and the way he plays.

  • @Awesome4life100 So? By your logic Justin Bieber is the greatest thing that happened to music too.

  • @avnaok no cuz he is NOT a legend. Think before you speak troller.

  • @Awesome4life100 ORLY? What's this legend shit? I didn't know there were rigid guidelines for calling musician legendary. I for one haven't heard of Steve Vai until i saw this video, and if that dude is so legendary then why are there only 838k views here since Nov 14, 2007?

  • @avnaok Your definistion of legend is different from others. You think its someone who is famous and the world knows him. Well its not. I saw this video a long time ago from my uncle who plays guitar too. You don't have to be well known by billions of people to be called a legend. And I will say again "He is ONE of the legends". There are many more and maybe even greater. So stop trolling and hating just because of how he plays and how his guitar looks like.

  • @Awesome4life100 and that equates you to a fanboy. Mindless, without ability to critically judge. No better than 12-year-old girls who worship Justin Bieber. Only difference being that Justin Bieber's crap is more popular.

  • @avnaok Who hurt you so bad to judge music so much?

  • @Awesome4life100 Well, excuse me for not digesting whatever shit that comes through my headphones.

  • @avnaok You really don't understand what I am saying. How does an obese girl earn to be called beautiful? Think before you speak troll

  • @avnaok and no i am not a fanboy he is a legend and he earned it by many people judging him. Unlike you

  • @Awesome4life100 How did he "earn it" if the only judgments you consider legitimate are positive ones? It's like meeting a morbidly obese girl and patting her on the back and telling her that she's beautiful. Get your head out of your ass.

  • @avnaok before you blow up on hate against this guy. Why do you hate him so much just because he has a 3 neck guitar?

  • @avnaok Steve Vai is among the greatest guitarist has ever know, sure a legend is about fame as much as skill, but when one becomes a legend based more on skill than fame then that's what i call a "true" legend.

  • @avnaok the other video of this has over 8 million views, so that point is pretty irrelevant...

  • @avnaok one neck is a 12 string, ones a regular 6 string neck, the bottom is fretless. steve vai is currently one of the greatest guitarists in the world. the stuff isnt popular because most people dont like instrumental music. obviously having a 3 neck guitar is for show, but thats the point of performing. watch "for the love of god" if you dont think he is that good

  • @ConnorVinceOfficial a 3 neck guitar isn't for show, it's so they don't have to change guitar mid song/show, all the guitar necks sounds different

  • @chr982 lol im a guitarist too, the entire performance is for show. the fact that he uses a tripple neck guitar is for the entertainment of the crowd

  • 2:50, looks like he's jerking off.

  • Look at how he's sitting, looks like a homo.

  • You can say all about Steve vai. Yes, maybe he is overrated, maybe he sometimes looks like he is a idiot, maybe he does like he is superman. WHATEVER!

Just listen to this amazing music! I never saw somebody do something like this.

And @ people like cipher619: Who gives a fuck. Steve is awesome, like almost all of the other famous guitarists.

  • it is at time like these you would say '' o yeah? i just learned how to play smoke on the water on guitar!'' ....

  • I just want to punch his smug mastubatory face. Tasteless crap.

  • @zivkovicable get mad kid because you'll never be on the level he is.

  • @GrenadeCatcher Level? What do you think this is world of fucking wankcraft?

  • @zivkovicable You're shit and you probably dont even play guitar so gtfo fuckin butthurt little bitch

  • @zivkovicable - pmsl

  • absolute gold

  • Tosin Abasi!!!!

  • @Wildcatballer52 is a wank?

  • @GrenadeCatcher Correction: is better than Steve Vai

  • @cipher619 Correction: Opinions arent facts.

  • My dad is such a great guitarist (:

  • steve vai big deal... you got your ass handed to you by ralp macchio hahaha

  • Shredding? Nothing special. Even if it was a four neck guitar.

  • Pssshhhhh... Erock331 is still way better.

  • Some of his stuff is great, but so much of it sounds like "I'm a big fucking deal, so you're going to like this regardless of how it actually sounds".

Steve is overrated, plain and simple

  • @cipher619

    Steve is overrated?

No, he isn't. He may be an arrogant wanker, but at least there's plenty of skill behind his arrogance.

Steve is a virtuoso, plain and simple.

  • @ScienceFecality He's good, but because of his success, most everyone is going to say everything he does is good, whether it actually is or not. That's my point. Due to his success, he will never write a "bad record" in the public eye.

  • @cipher619

Steve Vai is an instrumentalist with often very experimental approach to writing and performing music. Of course there's stuff that's hard to swallow (personally, I hate that track from Passion&Warfare with the kid's voice), but his technical skill makes even the worst of his stuff interesting at some level, for theoretical analysis if nothing else. I agree that he is very exploited in the music world, but he isn't overrated because he can play anything. It's that simple.

  • @ScienceFecality his "experimental approach" can be entirely described by: "Oh hey guys! Watch me play shitty cliche solo with lots of instrumental props." I guess props are more important than skill or sound.

  • @avnaok

Opinions are one thing and knowing something about music are other things. And you, my friend are full of shit. I'm not the biggest fan of Vai, but in his pinky he has skill that you won't have in seven lifetimes. Sad but true.

  • @cipher619 I get what your saying but I think its more he's just trying to be different. Maybe for worse some times but fuck it! Sounds good to me! He's always been a bit "out there" ... :)

  • @cipher619 Steve is not a legend for what he does today. It's all for what he did back in the day. What he invented. You might not be taking that in consideration.

  • @Nyxu This is a valid argument

  • @cipher619 steve is literally one of the most modest people in the world, he's emotional about his music

  • Ah, the Steve Vai shreds video.

  • feels like im in top gun

  • Steve Vai >=God

    Steve Vai greather than/equals God

  • I dont get it, it has 3 necks and yet he only uses one? hahah

  • @jessedeleeuw are you retarded or just blind?

  • Yeah well...

I bet he can't play guitar hero worth a damn though.

  • Steve definitely comes out of left field. Satch is better technically but Steve has imagination, a wicked wicked imagination.

  • hey bigb, no disrespect to any of those guys, but you only have to look at the transciption by Wolf Marshall and Dave Whitehill for the Passion and Warefare album. I think you'll agree the complexity in writing the piece 'For the Love of God', is freaking out of this world technically and - LITERALLY. But yeah, i know what you mean! Cheers

  • this is amazing

  • holy shit man!!! that's all i can say

  • Very ZAPPA-ish sounding... Truly incredible!

  • epic

  • joe saturani and steve vai used to play together when they were kids after high school, joe is still trying to figure out how the hell he played this.

    Freaken amazing :)

    True fact

  • @viper11blue Joe was Steve's guitar teacher

  • @viper11blue Not quite - Joe taught Steve guitar. And for the record, Steve was terrible at guitar, and was one of the worst students Joe ever taught... apart from the 10 hours of practice a day, because he was determined not be shit any more. This is where that can get you.

  • 199 people disliked that there is a dislike button in this video. they didnt really mean to dislike the actual video..

  • 1 of the best singers ever... And a pretty damn good singer... How can someone be this god damn good on guitar...

  • He's great. He's a dork. He's great. You decide.

  • sort of thing that would appeal to guitarists....anyone else would probably just think " why?"....

  • cheesie

  • it's fusking good!!!!!!!!11

  • I like the bit where he goes 'widdly'. Toe-tappingly catch. I'll be humming that all week.

  • Tags: Micheal Angelo?! WTF

  • @FATALxSENSE Micheal angelo batio is another crazy guitarist who always plays weird guitars like this

  • you can tell that he absolutely loves playing guitar. he gets so into his playing that he starts mocking the sounds of the effect. Its just amazing. One of, if not the, greatest guitar player(s) ever.

  • I am 40 years old and love me some good music, and the talent level that Vai has achieved is mind blowing. I still feel that Satch is the best in the business, but Stevie is right there with him. I will throw in John Petrucci with these guys too, almost hard to say who is "the best".

  • @Bigb11371 , are you a 40 year old VIRGIN.

  • Comment removed

  • @Leowen2 I could say that I bang your Mom every single day, but that wouldnt be very nice.

  • Wanker! watch?v=DX9re6k9k8c

  • (I KNOW YOU'RE HERE)

  • G3 is coming to new zealand and i am going yes sir, its gonna be mean,in march 25, 2012 cant wait.

  • @yehgiddaymate its not a true 3G though as they are only doing that one show. The real 3G will come after Satch is done with the Chickenfoot tour. I seen in a magazine where he wanted Beck to play, I wonder who it will be...

  • @lookslikeyouhadenuff Isn't 3G a phone network? I know more about G3. You know, with Vai, and Satch, and various other guys.

  • Good voice too

  • boring

  • 182 people are angry because don't neither know to play an 1-neck guitar... lol face

  • Haha i like the wind blowing through his hair xD

  • make up really wtf is he gay
