Well, sometimes I ask myself "Why did my parents choose Bakersfield?" But, when you get down to it, people here can be pretty nice. We're an expanding modern city, going through the same problems of major cities. Yes we are polluted and yes we have a lot of gangs, but if you find just the right places, it could be the coolest place you know.

I live in O-Dale, when most people think Oildale, they think "trash," and yeah, there's trashy people here, and litter filled front yards, but not where I live. The ones with trash in they're yard etc, are the true Dale'ions and tweakers. I'm not, though, I just live in Oildale.
Also, do people really think Bakersfield is the only place in the country with trashy yards, or people? I don't think so. And they're ignorant to think so.

Bakersfield isn't sooo bad. There are a lot of great schools, the new homes they're building are very nice and it's just a couple of hours drive to the beach and Los Angeles. Just like any city the crime is only a problem in the bad areas of town. Stay in the nice areas and you won't have any problems. Even though it's a decent sized town the streets are wide and the speed limits of most main thoroughfares are pretty fast (50 or better) so you can get where you want to go very quickly. Go Bako!!
I was just in Bakersfield one unfortunate weekend. I have to say it is one of the ugliest cities I have ever seen (I have traveled to many countries in Europe and Latin America as well as to many U.S. cities.) Bakersfield has little to offer. Sure you have beautiful and affordable homes- but they are affordable for a reason.
I interviewed for a job in Bakersfield. I lived in Fresno for 14 years and I thought that town was a dump... until I spent some "quality" time in Bakersfield. Nothing like a huge oil refinery in between the "nice" areas. Plus the place stinks all the time. Bako makes Fresno look like San Francisco in comparison. Don't believe me? Visit both for yourself and see what you think.
Like there's any absolutely PERFECT town anywhere? Sure, we have our ups and downs city to city, but no need to swear eachother out over the internet. It's pointless.
Trust me, you start to appreciate Bakersfield a lot more once you move away. Especially to a place like Seattle...yeah, Bakersfield is starting to look really good right about now!

This rap was funny but it's not really Bakersfield. This is the outskirts of Bakersfield and Oildale haha. I grew up in Bakersfield and I absolutely hate country music and don't have anything to do with any of that type of stuff. Bakersfield isn't that small of a town, theres about 400,000 people which is actually a lot. I mean I'm sure there are some people that live like that and stuff but mostly in the outskirts, not anywhere in the city.

Sad really...what was once a bright city with a big future has fallen to drugs and welfare. Where Oildale parents don't care if their kids graduate from high school.That child can always get unemployment or take over the family business of selling crank and delivering it on his bicycle that used to belong to his uncle who is now in jail and carry on the family name....sad really! Wow! Seattle or Bako? Hmmm. Let's compare. Seattle is a beautiful city. It has clean air, tons of outdoor activities for all seasons, a vibrant downtown, beautiful mountains and lakes everywhere. Yes it is rainy- I'll take that over the constant smell of cow poop, dirt, ugly oil refineries, gangs, ugliness(you can't deny how ugly Bakersfield is) urban sprawl, ugly strip malls and horrible weather. I'd take Seattle any day!!

Well, sometimes I ask myself "Why did my parents choose Bakersfield?" But, when you get down to it, people here can be pretty nice. We're an expanding modern city, going through the same problems of major cities. Yes we are polluted and yes we have a lot of gangs, but if you find just the right places, it could be the coolest place you know.

That wasn't cheesy, man. That was spot on. I live in O-Dale, when most people think Oildale, they think "trash," and yeah, there's trashy people here, and litter filled front yards, but not where I live. The ones with trash in they're yard etc, are the true Dale'ions and tweakers. I'm not, though, I just live in Oildale.
Also, do people really think Bakersfield is the only place in the country with trashy yards, or people? I don't think so. And they're ignorant to think so.

It amazes me how stupid some people are. I've spent most of my 33 years living in Bakersfield. I found the rap to be a pretty good telling of what it's like to be in Bakersfield, and it made me homesick just a little.
Oh, and as for college, I got my master's degree at CSUB.

This has got to be the worst fucking town I have ever lived in the weather sucks, it is to smoggy, people are down right rude and there is nothing to do here what so ever and people in this town are still kissing bushs ass but that is no surprise because most people in bakersfield can't think for themselves but what do I care. I am moving to los angeles in a few weeks so fuck this town I am from the bay area and I have never experienced such ignorance from people like I have in bakersfield!!!!!

Bakersfield isn't sooo bad. There are a lot of great schools, the new homes they're building are very nice and it's just a couple of hours drive to the beach and Los Angeles. Just like any city the crime is only a problem in the bad areas of town. Stay in the nice areas and you won't have any problems. Even though it's a decent sized town the streets are wide and the speed limits of most main thoroughfares are pretty fast (50 or better) so you can get where you want to go very quickly. Go Bako!!

I was just in Bakersfield one unfortunate weekend. I have to say it is one of the ugliest cities I have ever seen (I have traveled to many countries in Europe and Latin America as well as to many U.S. cities.) Bakersfield has little to offer. Sure you have beautiful and affordable homes- but they are affordable for a reason.

I interviewed for a job in Bakersfield. I lived in Fresno for 14 years and I thought that town was a dump... until I spent some "quality" time in Bakersfield. Nothing like a huge oil refinery in between the "nice" areas. Plus the place stinks all the time. Bako makes Fresno look like San Francisco in comparison. Don't believe me? Visit both for yourself and see what you think.
