This demo its very ugly, dont show the real power of Evolver... the distorts and ultrafeedback effects are on very basic setup studios, the Evolver is a real beast with more than overdrive effects... Evolver really are a modern Pro-One/Prophet VS...

dont own this keyboard and prob nto interested, because from what I've heard, DSI products don't sound much better than Reason. Vintage analog generally, although there are some modern products, like Korg radias that are good. Of course, like I said, I can't judge the sound of the keyboard from this video because its so poorly recorded. That said, I've yet to hear a DSI demo I liked that much.

The keyboard costs 2400 bucks, so what are you talking about. I know my facts, and the facts are this recording is distorted and clipping, and of zero worth is assessing this keyboard.
I happen to know my facts as well - and here's one for ya. President Lincoln was NOT assasinated. He only had the wind knocked out of him. Now get back in the tool chest!
I have to agree that the audio quality of this post is doing no service to this 2k plus keyboard. Kind of nuts to have a keybpoard that sounds so good, and not be able to set your levels properly....I wont say what it says, but it rhymes with toiled stitch
What are you talking about? Toiled stitch? Uh and check the price on the keyboard before you go dissing people. Get your facts straight before you open your mouth.
if you are rich and have no money problems then you really should get both Moog Littly Fatty and DSI Evolver. Personally, I love the Moog Sound more than DSI since Moog influenced me the most growing up.
BUT, if you are like me, poor and have money problems, then the DSI Evolver is the most logical choice because you get more for your money. Its the better deal.
you're talking the Moog sound vs. the Sequential Circuits CEM sound. the Evolver isn't as deep on the bass end but can go further with drones and pads. .. If you want an affordable synth in the same class as the Phatty, get a Waldorf Pulse +. .
i don't care who you are spend a week with this incredible machine, get to know the guts of it and you will love it, but i will also say it does take SOME patience once you get it down it's easy peezy tho
i agree the great thing about evolver is that because of it's versatility the only way to categorize it's signature sound is to say that there is no signature sounds, you can have warm textures piercing solo souds fat bass or just plain f*ck all noise
does anyone know of anything other synth that can get those harsh sounds? i love em. i want that...and im looking at the korg radias at the moment. but i doubt that can deliver. i want something fullsize too
is it possible to repost this without the CRAPPY mp3ish low resolution sound? seriously... you can't really make out any actual quality of the synth because the quality of the playback on this post is so terrible.
sounds very harsh...i don't like digital oscillators...that's why i am getting the prophet 08...for digital, i always have my korg synth and vst plug ins.
the two main oscillators are analog as is the lowpass filter - exactly like the Prophet 08. The cool thing about the Evolver is it also has an additional two digital osc featuring waveforms from the incredible Prophet VS. You can combine fat analog with harsh aliasing for some unique textures. The distortion and feedback controls allow for some additional sick harshness that is painful at higher volume. Sweet.
the evolver is the greatest bargain analog synth of the past two decades. period. and i have TONS of gear, it packs more punch than anything near it's price range
I just ordered one...I'm curious to see how it fits in my rig. I'm a big fan of arpegiators/sequencers (ala. Ozric Tentacles). I'm looking to midi up multiple arpegiators (Juno G, Access Virus Ti, Korg MS2000R and now the Evolver). Can't wait till next week:)
The Evolver has to be one of the best synths in recent times, and an incredible value for the money if you ask me. The keyboard with its multi-line display looks pretty nice, but I've already got a few MIDI-capable keyboards so I went with the cheaper tabletop version. I LOVE it but tweaking can be a little daunting at first.
The digital oscillators sound great, too. I think they really add to the analog sound.
I had just detonated a blockbuster on stage that shook the house. I had placed a box of confetting on top of it. The crowd went apeshit. This was in Central Florida where they love explosives. This was the last time I ever did that - a piece of the blockbuster ricocheted off a guitar case, hit the back ceiling and then hit an upstairs bartender in the stomach. He had a raspberry the size of a baseball.
i have a mono-evolver missing me in my room right now. (oof, how is work going to get me famous?!) my ion, and microkorg collect analog dust. (what? the microkorg?? whatever, i sold it once and missed it. bought it back. it still gets unique sounds) buy an evolver, it gets more fun than this.
Well, I think it would depend on the music you wanted to make. I hope to someday get the Prophet 08 to use along with my MEK. The Evolvers are great for radical sounds. Before my MEK I played a poly evolver at the music store but didn't really like it. Problem was the room was filled with kids triggering hip hop loops on all the Rolands and Korgs. I couldn't hear shit! Even so, it is very expensive for 4 voices. The Prophet will give you 8. - I haven't heard it yet in person - hope to soon.
First of all, hands down, of all artists i have seen on youtube performing their own original music, you are by far, in my opinion, the most INSANE and best!
You are literally more than qualified to be a well known recording artist.
Plz let me know if you start releasing material. :)
ive onwed the evolver desktop, the poly evolver keyboard and the i have kept the synth version of the evolver, simply because the poly was overkill in a mix, the desktop was too convoluted to do the "sexy, meaty" stuff.
ever since using the keyboard version, ive knocked out loads of stuff with it for soundtrack use. its a really underrated piece of gear, and will deservedly acquire legend status in later years.
That sequncer trigger factory 24 bass mod deep part is slamming. Lovin it , lovin it i'm sitting here! tugging on my splif and i'm feeeling it. yeah dis is DET! Ride twist and turn that evlover.
The white noise low filter part is Det! And the break downs are cool. if you record these tweaks over midi and play back and capture the best parts you gotta tune you should get out there. Remember the best music comes from when your having fun.
Its hard to appreciate the complexity and expressiveness of this instrument. All of the cool things he did with the knobs can be assigned to controllers and affected all sorts of modulation sources as you play the keyboard. I have a Poly Evolver and it is truly like no other instrument I have ever played. Simply amazing!
Quick question...... well maybe not a quick question but meh. I am on grade 8piano and im trying to get back into music after a long departure from it and my mates are banging me on at me about getting into synths and midi keyboards etc. I have no idea about anything like this! but i am a wizz at computers and other electronical things. Is something like this easy to use? Is the evolver an easy piece of equipment to get off the ground for someone with no exsperience?
easy to get a good sound from, but maybe not easy to master - you could look at the poly evolver, which will allow you several notes at once ( demo on the right) or better still start with a much simpler digital synth, then work your way to a poly evolver, a6 andromeda, or prophet 08 later on. I'd say have a look at the korg x50, yamaha m06 , and roland juno-g first.
I agree with cub005. I think the Juno G would be cool. Since you are good with computers you might look into soft synths. There is a magazine published in England that I buy once in awhile here in the states. Its called "Computer Music" and every issue they have a DVD with tons of free software - including synths and efx. Is amazing! Also...Ebay is a good place to get used synths. Look for that Yamaha and Roland stuff. Good luck.
The cme uf is just a controller. You need a synth module or a softsynth to make it produce sounds. Its a solid controller though if you learn how to use it.
It didn't give me a headache when I recorded it...but when I listened back I discovered I had blood in my underwear. I'm not an expert, but I just don't think that's right.
I really like it. The Evolver can do so many things...but the key is what YOU can do with it. I have a Minimoog and the Evolver can't get as beefy bass sounds as my Mini. But the Evolver is light years ahead of the Minimoog as far as programability, midi, efx, etc. There is a a 4-part 16 step sequencer that can route voltages to any parameter. There are so many modulation options that the Evolver is like a modular synth. And it blows the doors off my software synths.
i would rather be tweeking that girl....
