@Brutalford Actually ALL 400's were gone by that time since the last of them were put in F-series and Broncos up until 1982. They quit making them in 1979 but Ford used up the rest of their stock until '82 so no '85 came from the factory with a 351M or 400. In 1985, 3/4 ton and up F-series trucks had the 4.9(300ci), 5.0(302ci), 5.8(351ci W), and 7.5(460ci) engines available but the 4.9 was rare in F250's and really rare in F350's.

My friend does towing with his 2006 3500hd duramax, its got 600k+ miles on it with the original allison and duramax, just regular maintenance. The allison is alot stronger than all of the other trans thats why it is used in many semis, buses etc. Ppl hate on ifs but the only downfall to them is you might have to upgrade the tie rods for pulls
