Well, for me as an Austrian Jazz-organist (German language) some parts of the typical German comments sound funny and not really "jazzy". But it was made in 1965. This time JOS recorded some very successful albums for Verve but I prefer his Blue Note recordings from the 1956-1962 period. However there are some rare video-shots from the Van Gelder studio and from Clarence Avant´s office. For me RVG made his best sounding analogue recordings in the 1963-1968 period. Thanx again for this!
Great video, specially the second half. The way its shoot reminds me of "Straight No Chaser", the documentary about Monk on tour. Interesting to have an insight of what their musician life was like.
@p1r70l yeah, it sure is and that particular C-3 (organ) has been heard on numerous pivotal recordings ie: Ray Charles played it on his "Genius plus Soul = Jazz" Butch Cornell played it on on Stanley Turrentine's "Sugar", Herbie Hancock played it on Freddie Hubbard's "Delphia" (Red Clay), numerous Jimmy Smith recordings and many, many more.
Thank you so much for this!!! T.C. Pfeiler

The producer of this German documentary from 1965, Mr. Wildenhahn is still alive! He became one of the most profilic docu-filmers of Germany.
