  • my son sent me this link knowing how much I love this! I too listened to it over and over again on Butch Cassidy many moons ago and i never tire of hearing it! I wish i could have been in the audience!

  • joer qué nena, qué bien canta y qué buena está...

  • I want the brunette!

  • difficult melody to master, just when I thought it was getting edgy, they pulled it back with aplomb, excellent job.

  • I grew up listening to the Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid soundtrack on an LP and I think this is a great cover. Why are there so many critical haters out there? I don't see any other covers out there, let alone at Lincoln Center.

  • Bass notes are wrong during the slow section

  • Connie did such a great job!

  • love this and love the way they perform it.......sheer delight

  • Did you sneak into this gig?

  • Of the hundreds of videos I've watched on YouTube, this is the one I always come back to! Such a great arrangement and from one of the better film soundtracks of all time. Cheers to all of the voices. I hope you guys will do a reunion and maybe get a better video shot of this same brilliant Bacharach/David tune.

  • So false!!!

  • Brilliant , so wish I could have seen them live absolutely brilliant. thank you for posting !!!!!

  • excellent interpretation that grouping is good quality.

  • excelente interpretacion esa agrupacion es buenisima.

  • Who are these People???...Looks like they are having fun singing a fun song....I found an old LP...Just to play this song...

  • awesome, just like the original film!, thanks for posting

  • The brunette's got bigger balls than Dick Cheney.

  • Very Nice Job! Great Bacharach tune and not very easy either!

  • this was one of the tunes i first kept in my head n it reminds me of such a bygone age, cool

  • Top timing @ 41 secs. lol

  • Great job kids!!! Wonderful song from the greatest movie ever!

  • ba baaaaaaaaaaaaa am ba bam baaaa ba ba

  • this number pure mind candy,connie petruk,eye candy.........the whole package a delight.

  • love this

  • Something about the harmonies in this song just makes my brain tingle with happiness. <3 They're wonderful.

  • why do the audience titter at any pause? are they simple? this isn't comedic music...

  • @leolodreamland No, but its fun music. And the way it was preformed had its comical moments. The "titters" were justified. Whether they are "simple"? Well, humans are rather simple in some ways of looking at it, so if you are calling them simple for predictably laughing at something they find amusing... I would reply; "sure, whatever"...

  • @frankenshizzle I'm probably just a bit cynical, and take music a little seriously, but i'm not really a fan of singing comedians. the music definitely has it's fun moments but i think with the talent of both bacharach and the swingle singers i expected more than a gentle pantomime. maybe a time where this kind of music is taken seriously has passed and i guess they have to pay the bills... maybe i'm simple for expecting more.

  • @leolodreamland I think you are mislead by the audience reactions. This group worked hard, rehearsed a lot apart and with the orchestra and take their singing seriously. It's not their fault that the maturity level of some college kids in the audience is such that they make it into a comedy event, it is not, it's serious music, and seriously good music. Man, if you wanna complain about something, make it about the lousy video camera work, geesh!

  • The guy with the cowboy hat and pancho really got into the role. I think the movie version vocal group is much stronger than this group, altough this group does a good job. A difficult song to sing.

Burt Bacharach is truly an american master.

    psm

  • Class!

The dude on the left is jarringly off pitch at 3:26 but luckily doesn't mess anything else up. It's the kind of track that could easily be ruined by someone singing out of tune. Being ultra-critical, the slow bit is too slow imho, it dragged a tad. Overall though, belting! Thanks for the upload.

  • Yes, this is really very Good, very Good, excellent!!! Thanks very Much, for you

  • the guy on the left is infact quite annoying. but in saying that they are as a whole very good. Shame this is the only video of what must be one of the (voice) created tunes out there.

Bert Bacharach i salute you...a true song writing Legend!!

  • IMHO...one of the best pieces of music every written for voices.

    Merde Alors!!!!

  • Please tell me where you got the sheet music. I've been looking for it for years.

  • I cannot believe that there's just this one poorly shot vid...

  • Man they are good!!!!....

  • guy on the left is a ham.

  • I think this actually sounds better than the version in the original soundtrack as much as I love it.

  • really excellent!!!!!

  • The great great genius of Burt Bacharach. This is one the most beautiful, evocative and out-of-the-box pieces of the era. Done beautifully here.

  • Beautiful!!!!

  • Love this song, great version too

    thanks OP

  • south american getaways rule from the hyundai comercial

  • Awesome

  • Connie Petruk, the brunette singer in this performance, has a new album coming out with her band The Tall Pines. It's called "Campfire Songs" and it will be available world-wide on iTunes on June 23rd, 2009. I'm looking forward to checking it out. Thought you all might be interested. C.B.

  • amazing what can i say

  • Nice version... hard to recreate that vibe but i think you did it great!!

  • i LOVE this song SOOOO much*****

  • does anybody know who did the original version .....could it have anything to do with len barry or brasil66 brilliant version bytheway............

  • The original version (i.e. the soundtrack version) was sung by the Ron Hicklin Singers who were probably the pre-eminent session singing group of the late 1960s (they also did the original Batman TV series theme). The female lead was, I think, Jackie Ward who was better known under her solo singing name of Robin Ward.

  • thanx....

  • burt bacharach created the first one for the film butch cassidy and the sundance kid

  • Dito... been looking for it myself but it's not on here

  • This is from the soundtrack of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

  • "watch?v=D3181kl8UHA"

  • thanks, was having a bad day but you just made it a bit better.

  • I love this song!!!

Theyre so lucky they got to perform it! :D

  • Great....you can just picture the getaway, are they the original performers from the movie soundtrack, they sure sound it ? Thanks for posting.

  • No. For one, this clip is from 2007 - and the soundtrack recording is 1968-69, so these guys are too young.

Most people think that The Swingle Singers do this cut, but it wasn't them - never been mentioned on their website. Rather, its probably Anita Kerr, who was somewhat successful in the 1960s. Chances are she's overdubbing her voice, along with a couple of male singers in the studio to create a "Swingle Singers" sound. She also had a group, The Anita Kerr Singers.

  • @jimraw1 It wasn't Anita Kerr. It was the Ron Hicklin Singers

  • I watch this video once a week, it's a good vitamin! viva Los Swingtones!!

  • Fantastic rendition of a great song.

  • Thank you,thank you,thank you.

    What a great live performance.Beautiful.

Also, thanks for the Losers Lounge info.i will be looking it up.

Thanks again for sharing. Its made my week.

  • explendido

  • Love to see this live

    !!

  • I mean 6 voices, hard to see with the less-than-great camera set up... Are their other audio recordings of this group to hear on a website?

  • No this is a video recording from a Loser's Lounge tribute to Burt Bacharach. Various artists perform and it changes constantly. You might want to google Loser's Lounge.

  • Thanks for the info, I'll look for other video/sound clips of the Loser's Lounge series.

  • Such a great performance of this amazing song! It's great to see what 5 voices can achieve.

  • BRILLIANT!!! LOVE IT!!!

  • This is amazing!!! Hey Exultemus - It's called "live music." If you want it to sound exactly like the recording you should probably stick with Ashlee Simpson. Sheesh...

  • A great performance of a stunning piece of music.

And contrary to poular opinion the original in the film was not done by the Swingles Singers but by a Polish singing group of whom i havent got a clue

  • Great song, bold interpretation, and work of love by these singers.....VERY COOL!

  • The guys were off-key. 0:43 in particular. Love this song, happy to see someone 'cover' it.

  • LOL well, it is a live performance....the average layman isn`t aware of the difficulty of performing live compared to the artifice of the studio

  • Cool!

  • good effort ....

  • thx for posting!

  • Oh...Such LUSCIOUS harmonies in this piece by Burt!

    Great job, folks.

  • always liked this since i saw the film
