predictable. david yow would be better on vocals for this. duane's playing is always odd and inspiring, but sounds like bits and pieces of other JL songs. can't say it's that great or inspiring. a solid OK, but i'd rather listen to the original JL.

@panterajoey I know it sounds bitchy or like I'm trying to protect his image because I like him, but he does have talent. It's just his music really isn't something you get immediately and some people just don't like the way he makes music. He really goes(at least the way I see it) about music a different way then most might (Though for the record Tomahawk is mostly Duane Denison's project(the guitarist as well as the guitarist from Jesus Lizard)), which I personally really enjoy.
@panterajoey I like this song specifically because it's supposed to be about a psycho serial killer of some sort talking with a therapist(probably using hypnosis) and regressing back to his childhood and how he came to be a serial killer, the whole album this is from is centered around the theme of psycho killers and different stages of their psychosis.
@panterajoey and about the whole screaming thing, depending on what project he's working on he uses his voice as more an instrument rather than a voice, especially in Fantomas and his first two solo albums, which I again find amazing that not only does he have the balls to look that strange onstage, making odd noises and lyrics(as he's been doing this since highschool in the equally amazing and genius band Mr.Bungle), but he does it in such a manner as to pique one's interest and thoughts.

Btw, screaming correctly, without loosing your voice so you can sing soft pretty melodies after like he does, is incredibly difficult. MP is just as advanced vocally, if not more advanced, then top opera singers. If someone disagrees, i'd love to see you try sing like him, record the results and post them here on the tube.

Mike Patton is wearing a hairnet because he can. There are few singers nowadays (Maynard James Keenan, Trent Reznor) that have put in as much time and dedication to their craft, and have gotten to the point in their careers where they can get away with anything because everything they do is solid gold.
Very good band. Only reason i can't stand them is when i saw them with Tool in 02, he totally insulted the whole state calling us hillbillys and walked off stage and wouldn't finish the show after 2 songs.

@panterajoey I love slayer and man, I love Mike Patton even more. I think Epic was probably the worst song FNM have ever done. It's pretty bland and sounds like everything else. The music behind this band is what makes it for me, not Patton. (Like that awesome drumbeat change and the cool use of guitar harmonics)
Although his vocals are pretty amazing.

Mike Patton is wearing a hairnet because he can. There are few singers nowadays (Maynard James Keenan, Trent Reznor) that have put in as much time and dedication to their craft, and have gotten to the point in their careers where they can get away with anything because everything they do is solid gold.

Very good band. Only reason i can't stand them is when i saw them with Tool in 02, he totally insulted the whole state calling us hillbillys and walked off stage and wouldn't finish the show after 2 songs.

@guitarist1524 im assuming he put them in the same group beacuse they toured in 02. lol thats when i saw them play and it sucked because tomahawk sounded like shit in the TD garden. they're not an arena band whatsoever. smaller venues bring out the godliness of them. They belong in my basement with 20 friends and beer. sounds like a good time.....ohhhhhhh yaaaaaaaa

Tool fans booing Tomahawk. Frankly...I'm not surprised. I don't regard Tool as an innovative or progressive band in the true sense of the word. They're like the AC/DC or Iron Maiden of alternative rock...they have a sound that is working for them, but you can't seriously mean that they are challenging themselves and being risky with their music in general. 10.000 days was one big deja vu...and not in a good way. Chin up, Tomahawk and keep doing your wacky shit!

I saw these guys in 2002 opening for Tool. Didn't really get their style at the time. Now I could kick my own ass for not liking them at the time. Patton is a truly amazing artist.
