  • Was at the theater yesterday. Saw "Red Tails". Heard this song and sang it and recognized it!! I looked to my friend and I was like "Dude! Andrews Sisters!....Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy!" and after he smiled back, began singing it to myself. XD Thank god for jazz.

  • I love this song!!!!

  • Didn't Arthur Spooner from King of Queens claim to have slept with one of them? :P

  • I bet at least 75 of those views are me

  • Patty ha 93 anni adesso vai patty!!!

  • Patty ha 93 anni adesso vai patty!!!

  • The 40's had the ugliest styles of all the 20th century--womens hair was long and frizzy, the dresses were frumpy and unstylish. Women wore ugly things called snoods to hold their hair in the back that just emphasized the bagginess of everything. Add to this ugly cars and bland music and you have a dreary decade.

  • @VictrolaJazz The 40s was an era of cloth rationing, OK lets face it, everything was rationed because it was a war. Most of the good stuff went to the soldiers. Just because something didn't fit correct could of meant it was originally someone else's. People had to make due with what they had. And on the music, it has more soul in it than the music today which is basically "Random scantly clad woman singing to a drum machine."

  • @Celticswynd You're exactly right in every point, especially about the 40's music being superior to today (anything is superior to today's). It's just so ironic that two such diametrically opposed eras were so close together. Those born in the early 20's were born at the best time, but were condemned to the horror of the 40's--I always thought it must have been frustrating for these people to realize all the fun they missed.

  • @VictrolaJazz Depends on what you make of it. They were just getting over the great depression, but they still had fun. Might not be shopping, but picnics, dancing, you know, free things that can be taken for granted. I think the title of the old twenties song, "We ain't got no money, but ain't we got fun?" sums it up. You don't need to be rich or even have any money at all. You could be wearing clothes that come from a second hand shop, but still, you can enjoy yourself the way you are.

  • @Celticswynd That's right too. While the war was tragic, it also abruptly ended a decade of unemployment for millions of adults who were too old to go into the service and of course all able-bodied men were inducted or enlisted. People still enjoyed the simple pleasures, too--sitting with family on the front porch, picnics, etc. The economic boom for the US after the war was just icing on the cake because many expected the Depression to resume.

  • @VictrolaJazz I am no fashion expert, so I'll stay out of that department, but the cars were absolutely beautiful and far superior in looks to todays, and the music was ANYTHING BUT bland.

  • @longhornandsouthern You're exactly right, too, as compared to today's styles. I should have been more specific because I compare them to the styles, music and cars of the 1920's when everything in our country was moving at a frenetically breathtaking pace. A 1940-1950 anything can't compare favorably with a 1925 Wills St. Claire, Reo Flying Cloud or Jordan Playboy for pure aesthetic beauty and dash. And the Charleston and Black Bottom have it all over the Jitterbug and Boogie Woogie.

  • @VictrolaJazz OK, that makes some sense! In that case, I agree with you.

  • @VictrolaJazz well i think you're opinions are full of crap. what a stupid judgement of the 40's. ugly cars?..bland music? ur entitled..

  • @katesinger That's as compared to the 1920's!

  • does anyone know who the conductor is?

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY PATTY

  • @xes187 no it's not it means you will grow a clit and you get licked by your dog

  • @xes187 No, but it makes you AWESOME!

  • @xes187 Yes, I too

  • @xes187 What kind of question is that? Honestly. All music types have the ability to be liked by someone, regardless of age, sex, religion, or race...I wish you fucking little imps would stop posting on old music vids, declaring ur age like u want a fucking medal or a big shiny sticker or something....so u like the music, so wat?? move on with life....

  • Thing I love about that era was that everyone(men and women) made an effort and dressed sharp. No slobbishness

  • Thats what you call music hell yeah!!!

  • its a wonder to see an original Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy Clip, all other Clips are copyright, nice thx for sharing

  • omg :) wow there sooo cute and you know they would be blast to hang out with i bet our boys loved them

  • You can see why it was such a big hit!! And just what America needed at a perilous time. Patti, LaVerne and Maxine--your country thanks you.

  • I was born at the wrong time. The 40's were cool.

  • @calif562 I love the way back then that everyone dressed well and wanted to look sharp. Nice suits for the men and women dressed nice in skirts nad high heels. Shame when you see how slobbish people dress now on a night out....

  • great talents and entertainers

  • J'adore ça donne envie de danser :-)) si je savais danser ça... faut que j'apprenne ! :-))

  • When Mom was down I whistled this. When I was down she'd do the same.

  • Why don't you utube haters go fuk yourselves. I don't give a shit whether one or all of them were gay or not. What they did for their country is what should be remembered.

  • HAHAHA I LOVE HOW SHE "PLAYS" TRUMPET! HAHA

  • This made me happy.

  • How'd you get your hands on this tape

  • its top! thanks for posting. even nicer than in the film :)

  • Lol this is my tap song 4 dance team

  • Excellent....great song, Andrews sisters are awesome!

  • Nobody can sing that song like them. The original and best

  • This was the inspiration for christina's candyman, it says on wikipedia.

I totally hear (and see) the connection!

  • music back then was 10 times better than todays :( even if ppl didnt write their songs back then atleast you could respect artist back then, they had class and didn't expose their crap all over the tabloids. I'm sure back then they had a lot of drunks, alcoholics and sluts in hollywood but they weren't broadcasting it (holly wood would black list you for scandals ) but they didn't do it publicly thats they were admired and many today arent.

  • JAVMAN...who cares half of hollywood and the music industry is gay

  • @TheSteverino1 Some people just enjoy being predjuiced. They were great, weren't they!

  • @TheSteverino1 Some of us have "issues with gay & lesbian people. I don't get it.

Oh well. Such talent!!!!!! They were awesome

  • Still one of the best after all these years THANKS FOR POSTING...............

  • I grew up to my parents listening to them! Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ty for uplaoding!

  • Maxine does it for me...I hope there's another Maxine out there for me :)

  • @JAVMAN83 Maxine was gay. hate to burst your bubble.

  • @Jeannenyc57

Sorry to burst your bubble, but that is an unfounded lie put out by a couple of tabloids in the early late 80's-early 90's. She was an older woman (70s) living with Lynda Wells, a manager of hers who had helped revive her career.

  • @Jeannenyc57

Sorry to burst YOUR bubble, but that RUMOR was scuriously put forth by several dirt tabloids in the late 80's-early 90's and the homosexual community proceeded to "claim" her as one of their own...so typical of them to slander anyone in their attempts to justify their lifestyle.

  • @JAVMAN83 Fuck you asshole....eat a dick.

  • @Jeannenyc57 Google their names

  • @Jeannenyc57 Hey jerk.Maxene was married to Lewis Levy.I do'nt like that comment at all.I'm a big fan of thge Andrew sisters and I take heavy offense to that.get your history straight.

  • @thoughtfinder lol OK THIS IS HOW IT WENT. MAXINE'S Partner was Linda Lloyd, the manager. Patti dissapproved. When Maxine had her heart attach, the hospital wouldn't let Lynda in , so Maxine adopted her. READ YOUR FACTS! It does not make her a bad person, in fact, I think she had more talent than Patti. thoughtfinder, before you call someone a jerk. GROW UP! This has been known for years about maxine. The End!

  • @thoughtfinder Oh, and in those days, women or men (Rock Hudson) had to marry.

  • @Jeannenyc57 And you believe every tabloid lie that comes out.In 1974 Elvis Presley went to Las Vegas to do a concert when he turned up sick with the flu.He had to reschedule the concert. But all over town the tabloids said he canceled because he was strung out on heroin. You believe those lies I'll sell you ocean fron property in Montana.

  • @thoughtfinder Ok, in all truth, I really don't care. They were extremely talented.

I am not going to get into this anymore THE END!

  • That takes talent to nail it live. Bravo. First heard this song in the movie "Land of the Lost" with will ferrell. It plays when they first enter the cave in the movie. Check it out. Pretty cool. Funny ass movie too.

  • Awesome

  • No one can compare to the Andrew Sisters!

  • my history teacher played this song in class. i can honestly say i hum it to myself.

  • I know a group that I am friends with and they do that song very good, of course they have a good beat to it.

  • I love their music. :)

  • luv there music! patty is soooo pretty=) ( the one in the middle. lol)

  • Nevr get tired o th A Sisters!

  • BEST!

  • i luv the andrew sisters!!!!

  • sweet~

  • why are there people talking about having sex with these women?

LaVerne and Maxene are both dead.

and "patty" is in her 91.

those people who think it's funny are sick.

  • @SinclairisCool

I think the guys who made the comment you speak about wanted to say that, in their prime, the Andrews Sisters were beautiful women.

  • @SinclairisCool

Its because these women are clean. It tends to attract people of a lesser evolution cycle for some reason.

Maybe we sould call orkin to get rid of them.

  • Dude, that's sick.

No one should applaud or want to hear vile comments like that.

  • Patty Andrews is 91 ( 2009 ) and doing well. I hope she's still alive in 2011 to mark 70 years since the Sisters appeared in "Buck Privates" and sang that song.

Oh, "union babe" , The Andrew Sisters music & style still beats any singers on your site/

Those girls should be very thankful to the Andrew Sisters or Brenda Lee or Janis Joplin,

( as well as Billie Holiday & Ella Fitzgearld) for paving the road for female singers to be more than "just another pretty face or voice".

  • she must be dead now lol? x

  • nope

  • yeah! thumbs up

  • i love this soong!!

  • I love this song..It makes me want to move

  • So awsome!!!

  • I love this so much!!

  • Excellent singers!

  • These are some bad ass white girls! S**t, are they "jammin" or what?

  • I wish I was alive in that time :\ Im 17 and the music was so much better and full of personality back then

  • im 18. i dont really wish i was alive then cos of the war an' all but i know what u mean. there was a humour and class that we just dont have anymore.

  • Sophiehelen2009,

You took the words right out of my mouth!

It seems that ppl in the 40s were helpful, honest and generous

  • There the best.I have three CD's with there songs.Great talent.Though if I may add Maxene on the right of the screen is extremely beautiful.

  • Yes we do and yes they are...it is a fairly newer expression though. maybe "off the hook/chain" would not have been misconstrued. I know what you mean

  • well I thought you meant they were ugly

  • good god man just listen to their singing that is perfect harmony

  • the one on the right looks a bit like brittney muphey

  • Comment removed

  • This music has one thing music nowadays music dosent : you can hear what the words say and dosent use terrible language like rap does nowadays.

  • I love the cheaky side look and grin from the lady on the right...classic thank you so much for posting

  • This is freaken AWESOME......

  • You got that right.I first heard that song on a made for TV movie version of The Shinning with Steven Webber as Jack Torrance rather than the Jack Nicholson. When I heard that song then I loved it so much I did some research to find out who it was that sang that. When I found out it was the Andrew Sisrters I've been hooked and addicted to their music ever since.

  • This is great!

  • Patty is amazing with this song

  • I think that they would be more successful if they were singing naked :P just joking, The Andrews Sisters are great.

  • True American talent!

  • Classy, beautiful women, totally professional and timeless performances. I love them. Thanks for posting this historic clip.

  • @carrotjuse ( PROFESSIONAL )they weren't sterile your kidding they did as much to beat the kraut's and the japs as much as any jar head , ground pounder , swabbie , or fly boy , they reminded the soldier's of home and what they needed to do , they helped overcome the despair of what they were doing , killing people that you don't know has a tendency after a while to make you numb inside , these girls brought you back to life

  • @jhunted7667 You've got the wrong dude. I have nothing but admiration for these women and their music.

  • Patty born 1918 is still alive. The sisters were of norwegian decent if you didnt already know that.

  • norwegian and greek

  • The Andrews Sisters are fantastic!

  • The sister in the middle is still alive and i belive she was born in either 1914 or 1918.

  • It is sad that Maxene Andrews has passed on 13yrs ago.I would very much would have loved to have met her and told her how much I love the music she sang. And to tell her she is the most beautiful women to have ever walked this earth.I have great respect and admiration for her.

  • They are not ugly

  • The Andrew Sisters are beautiful and did NOT have pubic hair!

  • OK.. I've now completed my time machine. I'm looking for willing volunteers to come with me to the 1940's.

All looks good back there, apart from a War, but we win that anyway.

There are people who look out for each other, people who make the best of bad situations without moaning or blaming someone else for their misfortunes. People who put family and friends before themselves...

Leave behind your Playstations, PC's, Bad Manners, trashy clothes, and selfish attitudes.

    Do I have any takers???

  • I'm in!!! I'll never stop wishing i was born in the 30's. everything was so much classier back then! And the music!

  • OK Girl... straighten those seams, take a seat, and lets go to a place where talent wins over trash!!

  • that is a nice comment. really, do you think our generation will rezist without the modern gadgets?

  • To me they are the best performing singers of the 1940's.They only one that could come close was Glen Miller.

  • We Love You Laverne, Maxine, and Patty!

  • Talent personified....No recording studio trickery, or digital enhancement and yet this still sounds fabulous.

Just imagine the effect it must have had 60years ago!

  • ★★★★★ AWESOME issy

  • I just viewed this the other day! The Best!

Great to know others all ages appreciate this! When I went to Boot Camp, Bette Midler's version was out. A double memory! The revival was nice, while it lasted, but there is nothing like the originals! Check out Shoo Shoo Baby. Another wartime great. Thank you Birdie29, and thank you Paul.

  • What joy, and reason for living these three girls brought to the soldiers. These are true performers..and don't you people forget it. Half of the time they weren't even paid. Great song..thanks, Paul for the share.

  • fantastic blast from the past sailor 5bigbig****

  • These gals must have been fun to hang out with, they are not ugly. I met a deformed guy in a wheelchair today who was rather nice. Sincerely speaking, wish there was a photoshop for the wrong things I say and everyone else's.

  • Oh my lord how these ladies could sing so great! peace,sailor8285

  • Indeed!!

  • who cares, man! i'd still do patty; i bet she ROCKED in the sack!
