would love to see a video of the 46 inch vertical. It can do nothing but boost Marv's credibility substantially while supplying his youtube followers with some good viewing material. Making a claim like that, however, and not putting up evidence, is actually detracting from his credibility because people see something absurd like that and make snap judgments that could be disproven in a 5 second video, if true.
being able to jump onto a 48 inch box and having a 48 inch vertical leap are 2 different things. A true vertical leap is not measured with a tuck component or bent legs ie. when jumping up onto a box
You obviously haven't read Verkhoshanksy or you would know what makes his work so special.
@Kanes4life Traditional training methods are base on voluntary muscle contractions. Meaning, each movement starts with a moment of thought. What makes plyometric training so incredible is that the depth jump entices an involuntary muscle contraction. The rapid shortening of the muscles is detected by muscle receptors and triggers a reflex response in order to protect the body.
Is it the dude in the black with the 46 inch vert? I don't know about 46 but his vertical has to be extremely high. In the beginning of the clip, he pops up to the last box and lands on it with straight legs. That box is over waist-high. And he's doing a barefoot rebound jump to boot. That is damm impressive. He can bounce.
Wether you believe the claims or not you really should take a look at the Sports Lab training. It has waaaay more to do with just practicing jumping. These guys are the future of athletic training. All I'm saying is do your homework before you judge someone's training philosophy.
ive seen all the stuff he has on the net ,hes a completely uneducated chancer whose efforts to sound like he understands sports science make it obvious that he doesnt have a clue.
theres no way a person could go from 32 to 46 inches in a lifetime let alone 3 weeks. Also the fact that only a handful of people in the world have had a verical jump of 46 inches.Michael jordan for example was less than that.
Well that comment only comes from those who do not do plyometric training. We have improved the vertical jump of numerous volleyball, basketball players and track athletes.
When you understand how the body works and train it appropriately you can see how far it will go!
We have had numerous come into the gym to see him jump and all are amazed.
lad,I have an honours degree in exercise physiology and did my thesis on vertical jump and its relationship with sprinting performance.I know just a bit about plyometrics.Any plyo program would improve performance on jumps, nothing new there,Im calling bullshit on your specific claims about performance and improvement.
I dont have to to it to know that the man has zero education in exercise physiology,Ive seen every vid he has on the net and read every artical. He is completely ignorant of the most basic science. Can he motivate an athlete who doesnt know bullshit from sense, sure he can.
@billysue2 Well it seems you know what you're talking about. Tell me, how much can my true vert increase from about 5 inches?? Before I waste my time and energy trying to jump higher! Im 5'11
Have to agree with billysue2. A true 46 inch vert is pretty much impossible except for a select few people in the world. Going from 32-46 in 3 weeks is unheard of.
@GSPfan10 The reason you nor Billysue2 don't think it's possible is because neither of you understand the true function of the CNS (central nervous system) in Athletic training or athletic performance. I recommend reading Yuri Verkhoshansky's book Super training
@mpcc2022 lad,if yuri verkoshansky heard the bullshit marv comes out with hed die laughing ,if he wasnt already dead.i read that book 10 years ago, incredibly detailed but very poorly organised and written.
@billysue2 I find that funny Sir, because I've worked with Dr. Michale Yessis and Mel Siff, men who've worked with and translated Professor Verkoshansky's work. They would beg to differ, Yessis's standing opinion is Marv is simply a copy and of the Soviet training system primarily his research, and Verkoshansky's Shock method.
@mpcc2022 what you mean is that marv read some russian research, totally misunderstood it because he has no formal education in the area and then tried to apply his misunderstood method.Mel thought paul chek was an idiot and chek is lightyears ahead of marv in terms of knowledge.
@billysue2 So because check's uses weights he's light years a head of Marv, check doesn't have degree either he majored in economics, every Russian Scientist though Check as an idiot. Verkhoshanky didn't even know who he was. But many recognize Marv and his work with the Nervous system that should tell you something. So I quite honestly want to know what is your beef with Marv? the dudes autistic as they come but he's not an idiot by any stretch.
@mpcc2022 chek leaves a lot to be desired but hes still more educated than marv, self educated and internships ,not degrees.Neither would be my idea of experts in the area.Marv hasnt aclue what hes talking about, look at his site, full of misunderstood science and inappropriate use of terminology.HE HAS NEVER DONE ANY WORK ON THE NERVOUS SYSYTEM THAT HASNT BEEN DONE LONG BEFORE.
@billysue2 So what website are you referring to I'm curious too see it, I only care about truth and knowledge not who's right or wrong. Sorry If I seemed to come off that way but honestly I just want the truth. If you indeed have factuality supporting what your saying I'd very much like to look into the research you've gathered, and get a better and further understanding of athletic development and training.
@mpcc2022 his original dynamic integration one ,plus every single video he has on youtube, even the guys he has working for him know nothing.Nobody with an education would work for him.
@billysue2 No one works with the man because of his personality, but I just can't see the fact in your points. It was good talking to you and hearing your disposition my friend thank you

What's so special and new about depth jumps and other plyos?
Guys like Verkhoshansky have written about such methods decades ago.

Jumping!
Making someone jump to improve their jump is common sense.

@maverick4131 if you have a vert jump of 5 inches youre a beagal and no amount of training will help you.A 5yr old would jump higher.
