I could not disagree more strongly with the assessment of musicaparola. Having seen a number of her Lucia portrayals I think she has developed several different, valid takes on this character. Thanks so much for this clip!
Well, June was my first Lucia, so I am a little biased :) But I agree, she portrayed the character in a very interesting way. Every singer is going to play Lucia differnt, and we should respect that and encourage that. I love Sutherland and Callas, but to hold every singer to their standards in the role is out of touch with the purpose of opera.

Although a great musician, for me, Anderson never quite becomes the personaggio she's interpreting. Neither her lovely voice (here a bit strident) nor her acting bring to life the heroines she portrays. She looks lovely onstage, sings well, but never moves me.
Her voice is never strident, her voice has edge, precise timbre through all the theater, and the further you are, rounder the voice...besides, she is one of the singers with the best legato ever...dont mention her beautiful timbre. She is one with the best technique and color to portray roles, way better heard live!
Wow, she convinces me that she saw a ghost!
