the lap part of the seatbelt over where the child's feet sit is very common when NOT using a base. Although I do find the fact that the shoulder belt goes behind odd I can't argue it;s safety as I have not researched it.
The problem I see is that the video ends abruptly and you don't show belt path movement. There should be less then an inch at the belt path and upon completion of the video it looks like there is MUCH more then that.
@jaskerry They do! it just isn't necessary. Just like chest clips, infant car seats don't come with them but you can buy them in shops or online separatly.
what the???? that was shocking I would never put my baby in that! why was the lap part of the belt sitting over the front part of the seat!?? I agree with suntzzu and d103cc it does not look safe at all!
I just had a look at the bottom of the seat. It has two bars across, which means that it just might fit on an Isofix base. But it can also go in on a strap method. Isofix is rigid LATCH.
It could easierly be just as safe as a US infant seat - just different. US infant seats are fastend by the front of the car seat or the base whereas this seat is restrained at the front as well as around the back. Which one that does the better job is hard to tell.
@lenats31 But if you get a US car seat it might not fit a UK car. It will have different ways to clip into the car such as hooks. And bases can sometimes be dangerous for babies.
@TwinkleRebornNursery US seats are illigal to use on European roads onless you are in the military. So we don´t have US seats overhere. Isofix is hooked onto the bars in the car the same way that you would hook on a Safeguard connector. As a matter of fact, there are seats here that have Safeguard connectors. Just take a look at the Axkid Kidzofix. Honestly, the difference is minor if any at all
most infant seats in england (where this is filmed) dont have a base. although this video is not the best i have seen as the seat is wonky in the car! and the seat doesnt look a good fit for the type of car!

@hangmans8 The shoulderbelt ges around the back to reduce the forward movement of the seat

Wow, they don't have the base for the infant car seat in the UK....that was shocking to me! The base makes the car seat much more stable!

@jaskerry we do but this is for taxis ect where you may not have the base with you

its safer to have a base for the infant car set and also its safer to have any baby/child in the middle of the back set
zachsblondie69 3 years ago
it's not safer to have a base, it can also be more dangerous to have a base, depends of the seat/base and how it's installed
lohikaarmehedelma 2 years ago
@lohikaarmehedelma
however this seat does not look properly installed....

@zachsblondie69 In the UK most car seats you can't buy with a car seat base or chest clips you have to buy them seperatly
