The two singers of this theme were Paul Weinberg & Jenni Muldaur, and the theme was composed by Mambo Music, Ltd. This should clear up the fact that Whoopi was not involved in the theme in any way.
I refuse to believe that this is Whoopi's voice. Maybe it was a little bit of studio altering, but I'm thinking of a more raspy voice like in the 'Sister Act' voices.
I think it would be awesome of someone could mix the opening and closing together for one big song. This part doesn't include the verse about driving down Hollywood Boulevard.
Nope, S3 (2000-01) still used the 1998 version of the "I Love Hollywood" theme. Even when they went on location to New York City sometime in S3 (which was the only time in the Bergeron version where they were not taping at CBS-TV in Hollywood), they still used the 1998 music variation of the HS theme, only w/ the words "Hollywood in New York" replacing "I Love Hollywood" in the lyrics.
Also check out a clip from Julie Pinson on HS in S3 on YT and you'll hear the 1998 HS opening theme on it.
In 2001-2002, there was a different kind of version of I love hollywood. Where can I find that?

Do you have the remix of "squarebiz" on Hollywood Squares, just like Teena Marie's version?

Here's an interesting zinger, and I believe it was something like this (though it may not be exact):
Tom Bergeron: At the ESPY Awards, where was Samuel L. Jackson referring to when he said, "I can be dressed like a pimp and I can blend right in."?
Wayne Brady: Dennis Rodman's house.

The best theme song for a game show. I hope they revive it if Hollywood Squares comes back.

It's still Whoopi singing here, right?

Also, for those wondering, I only saw one episode in Season 2 that the end credits ran so long they made it to the 1:30 mark, and that's about it.

was that from one of the episodes post-Mark Stender's big $100K+ 5-day reign?

I don't think you ever got to hear much after 1:07 or so on television during the closing credits. Thanks for posting, very cool!

Heck, you rarely heard after 0:50!
