What the fuck mourn the death of roy jones? i think you mean to say the end of his career. He will never be the same boxer he use to be but dayum to say hes dead is just fucked up. I had the pleasure of getting roys autograph in vegas and hes a real nice guy even tho it was a breif meeting
I never cared for Jones. He wasn't a great boxer, just fast. He had no class, poise, or character, just another ignorant country bumpkin who cursed the sport with his countless fights against mediocre opposition and rap music entrances. He fought like an ignorant chicken and avoided the best fighters of his era. His knockout at the hands of Tarver was a blessing for the sport, and nation in the never-ending quest to rid ourselves of ignorance, rap, and thugs. Jones already forgotten.
@jurdoc11 you clearly are retarded i wanted to be calm about this but he thought nobody john ruiz james toney bernard hopkins i mean what a stupid thing to say he was great and what you think no style was athleticism he fought like a chicken aswel wtf do you know what your sayng he fought like that because he could because he was so fast and strong and precise he could before i see your name on espn boxing you cant say shit about one of the best i do boxing what do you do havnt lost myself you?
@fruitmove Watch the video before commenting. We hope that RJ has enough money to live rich for the rest of his life, and we hope that he does not fight again because we don't want to see him end up like Gerald McClellan. Whether or not Roy fights again, the point is the real RJ is gone forever.
@fruitmove Laugh at your silly ass This guys a clown and stands no chance of beating any contender these days We must take the time to lagh at you and any other joes fan
@kablydenwyw i didn't post a video about it, but I commented on other videos. I have a picture of RJ holding my daughter when she was only 4 months old, so I'm also a vig fan. That's why I don't want to see him get hurt. It's time to hang the gloves up. There's not enough Xango in the world to rejuvenate him.
@UrbanFilmworx I don't know man... xango is some powerful stuff..lol... yeah aafter watching you post i started to watch some old highlights of him... man, he was a bad dude... He made fools of a lot of good fighters... He was cocky show boating about it too.. maybe this is retribution ...
@UrbanFilmworx I don't know man... xango is some powerful stuff..lol... yeah after watching you post i started to watch some old highlights of him... man, he was a bad dude... He made fools of a lot of good fighters... He was cocky show boating about it too.. maybe this is retribution ...
@kablydenwyw Ultimately it was ego. Believing that he could lose thirty pounds of muscle after winning the HW title against Ruiz - to drop back down to Light Heavy to face Tarver. The first Tarver fight -- that was the beginning of the end for him, even though he won that fight -- because he suffered a lot of damage in that one.
@SublimeAce5 That would have been a good time for him to pack it in. Or, he could have picked a few safe heavyweights, smaller heavyweights, to fight then call it a day. James Toney would have been a good choice for him to fight at Heavy. Roy ruined himself by dropping back down to Lt hvy.
he had the chance to fight tarver at cruiser but didnt. shedding all that muscle destroyed him. even if he lost eventually at heavy he'd still be a legend.
@turnbacktime It was really sorry to him in the interview last weekend after the Hopkins lost. It was like he didn't even care that he lost. I agree that he's hurting his legacy by finishing his career like a bum, but as time passes after his retirement, I still think he will be remembered for his greatness at the peak of his career. As for the future, I won't pay for anymore of his fights. The same goes for Hopkins. This is just turning into a hustle.
nah, He wont be viewed as a legend in this day and age, especially after losing to the likes of Tarver and Glenn Johnson and not avenging those losses with KO's. In his prime I always wondered why he'd go the distance with guys he couldve taken out in the 1st round, apparently he wanted to go easy on the fighters he so easily dominated because he didnt want to hurt them. Well these mediocre fighters have no qualms with hurting Roy now. I stopped watching roy fight after the Glenn johnson fight.
its a damn shame..roy imo is witout a doubt n all time great n my fav fighter of all time..he is the most athletic & talented ive ever seen..and we prolly wont c nobody wit his speed, power & athleticism for a loooonnnng time ... jones was destined to challenge the likes of Ali, Armstrong & Robinson at the very top of the game, but when all is done and dusted, Roy will be viewed as a disappointment in that regard.
I think Roy earned his place in history. His losses all came after his crowning achievement which was winning the heavyweight title. I look at Ali's losses to Spinks, Berbick, and Holmes. Ali was beaten badly by the last two, but his victories secured his place in history. Hopefully, Roy did enough to earn his spot. In my eyes, I say he did.
I wanted Roy to Retire after the Calzhage fight. It was so hard for me to see such a legend get played like that in the ring. After the Danny Green fight, I am hoping he does it for his safety. No matter what, he will be one of the most gifted boxers to lace the gloves up.
I hate to do it, but you're right I have to say congratulations to Danny Green. "Congratulations Danny.?" When a good fighter beats a great fighter, lets' give the winner his due.
Beating RJJ has become like beating Mike Tyson in his later stages; he's big in name only now, and the up and comers who beat him expect to be able to make big pay days, when all they really did was beat a washed up fighter, and the boxing community knows it.
Thanks for your comment. I don't want the title to overshadow the content, because I'm actually paying tribute to one of the all time greats. I clarified the description, but hopefully the title will make the video stand out and provoke comments/discussion
then do it another way. dont do it by stating a title you know will provoke negative reaction.
if u want to pay tribute up load a video of roy in his prime, upload the same video. but this is disrespectful.
and yeah i agree with the other comment. So many boxers have died this year, most well-documented Arturo Gatti, and here in the UK we lost some. So show some respect and remove the video or title you knob
