  • dont take simmons personally you clowns. the stuff he says about Boston teams is the exact same way everyone sounds about LA teams. he has a fans perspective. Its hilarious the stuff he says. if you take trash talk about sports seriously, you are what Cowherd refers to as "Low Hanging Fruit". Cheers!

  • @chips93 chips93 stop breathing lol BAM!!!

  • simmons definitely favors boston teams, but he at least will write things the mainstream journalists won't....he lambasts the referees, unabashedly calls out all those frauds like vince carter, etc.

he is not my favorite writer in the world (i personally like stein a lot), but if you just take him with a grain of salt, he does make some good points and touches on valid subjects

  • his book is good

  • I think Bill simmons can be pretty funny, but i also think he values his own opinion wayyyyyy to much. He really thinks hes the shit and it comes through in his writing quite a bit, but sometimes those pop culture references do kill me!

  • I would hope that anyone choosing to write a column would deem their ideas and opinions worth sharing.

Should he preface each article with, "Hey, I know my ideas aren't really that important, but please go on and read my useless writing."?

  • Anyone who gets mad at Simmons for favoring Boston is missing the entire fucking point!

He's not a serious sportswriter. The entertainment value lies in the fact that he writes from a fan's perspective!! Therefore, he talks about how it feels to be a fan of a particular team.

And I don't even like any Boston teams.

(And thank God ESPN hired Dameshek to be the resident Pittsburgh homer!)

  • Exactly. Anyone that constantly uses pop culture references with sports (like comparing Dwight Howard with Josh Baskin from "Big") really shouldn't be taken seriously. It doesn't make his columns any less entertaining. Sports have become so serious these days, it needs a little stupidity to go with it and Bill Simmons does this so well.

P.S., apparently, he wrote that if he made that shot, he would have done the Sam Cassell dance. If that happened, I would just lose it completely.

  • His fake movie ideas are hilarious too

  • bill's always been one of my favorite writers, and yes he does focus on boston but he's from there so it's a bit forgivable. his podcast is kinda boring though and it seems like his ego has inflated and it's reflected in his recent columns. he's still the man though

  • That's surprising that he missed.

He always gets tom brady's balls straight into his mouth without a miss.

    "SWISH" AND SWALLOW.

  • Oooooh close

  • I really don't get all of the Bill Simmons haters. Obviously he roots for his hometown teams. He also bashes people on his own teams like in the hilarious Doc Rivers/Ubuntu article.

  • Its about what sells and Boston and New York always sell buddy. Get used to it

  • You have a point. Which is why I just ignore it instead. Oh well, at least he doesn't write main articles. Not even ESPN is that stupid.

  • Hey he..and we can't help it if Boston is TitleTown USA. Sox to Pats to Cs...good times, good times. Don't care the Pats lost. Either 1 title and 2 second places or 2 titles and 1 second place. It's great to be a fan from Boston.

  • he does focus on boston cuz hes from there. but biased? be serious.

  • Too bad he didn't make it.

  • little known fact after the game he went back out and swished one

  • Simmons has a lisp.

  • acutally i think they've buried the hatchet. in the espn version of this they are talking to each other and Bill goes something like "You used to hate me."

  • watch the cheerleader second to the bottom on the left side when he shoots. crazy body language

  • lol i never noticed that haha

  • Too bad he's a much better writer than you are, sir.

  • Because people that miss half court shots by inches are terrible.......

  • Bill, you have now reached the pinnacle of your sporting career. "You totally did what you wanted to do..you hit the rim"

....gold pure mediocre gold. Thank god you can still write and she always has the weather report to look up to...still giggling...
