  • Chaz, so happy to see this, wondered about what happened to you a year ago. funny that you posted a message! Somewhere is says your a policeman??? would love to chat, remember the fun we all had! Donna

  • Hey MrWestbrook, glad you saw this. You are looking and sounding sharp as ever in this clip. Thanks for reminding me Ginny's real last name.

  • I remember this song. Ginny Whittaker on drums! RIP Ginny, my dear friend.

  • This is the Rabbits. Formed by Dan Baird (The Georgia Satellites) and Chaz Westbrook (The Razor Boys, XYZ, The Cast, Rick Soul and The Love Offenders) with the help of Neil Bogan (Lyrics) Eric Hubler and Jenny Whitaker. Jenny was in several other bands as was Eric, but I don't recall the names. This was at The Agora Ballroom, Atlanta, GA.. Are there more videos?

  • This is not the Method Actors. ;-)

  • I think this was a band called either "Rick Soul and the Love Offenders" or "The Rabbits" . Chaz Westbrook on vocals, and maybe Dan Baird on guitar.

  • It's the Rabbits, 1980. Chaz vocals, Dan Baird guitar, Eric "The Big E" Hubler bass, Ginny, last name Ruff?, drums.

Dan and I wrote "(Let's Get) Confidential" as one of 20+ songs for the bubble-pop concept he and Chaz had. By late 81 Rabbits were gone, swept away by MA, REM, et al. No idea there was any record of their existence. Dan went on to GA Satellites; think "Rick Soul" was Chaz before or after.

Stan, I know you're offended as a real MA--but the Downtown Executives? Cracker, please!

  • The REAL Method Actors are walls to the Balls pioneers!

  • Ha, very funny and very WRONG. This is Stan Satin, and I was in the Method Actors. This is NOT the Method Actors. There was never any other band called the Method Actors.

This video is incorrectly labeled. It is probably a band called The Downtown Executives, but I am not sure.

  • if misterrichardson does have the clip from the show, we would be forever grateful to him if it was posted. So many bands that missed the audio visual revolution will be heard only on obscure vinyl.......

  • Definitely not the Method Actors. The previous poster is correct.

It was Vic/ David duo, then expanded when David moved to London and disappeared...

Stan Satin from the band Vietnam joined Vic for the second, larger version of the band.

None of them ever had large '80's hair! or music this bland.

  • huh. How bout that. I posted that without even looking at the actual footage. Could it be taken from a multi-lineup show?

Can the real Method Actors stand up, please?

  • is this the band from Athens, GA?

  • yes

  • Uh... either there were two completely different Georgia groups called The Method Actors in the early 80s, or something is very wrong here.

The group I am familiar with was a 2-piece (Vic Varney and David Gamble) and they sang very skewed, oddball songs.

Also, although the lineup did expand later on, none of the members shown here looks anything like Vic or Dave.

Is is possible that Access Atlanta accidentally mixed up footage of two groups somehow? This is definitely not "my" Actors.

  • PS (this is in response to my other post - hopefully these don't get out of order!)

I did some digging around and, yea, this is definitely not the Method Actors I am thinking of.

If you go to the official Method Actors page on MySpace and listen to, for example, "Halloween" or "Hi Hi Whoopee" you will see that they neither look nor sound anything like the guys in this clip.

I'm really not trying to be a smartass - I'm just very, very confused right now as this makes no sense to me.
