not true. i'm at IT guy at a rehabilitation center. i support about 65 computers and before we spent a few grand on a corporate antivirus, we were getting at least one totally screwed computer per week..not to mention the silent viruses that send out mass emails in the background. and my users are therapists and doctors, they just get tricked easily by the web and emails. and to make it worse, those AV programs bog down computers while running scans.
@adam75south You should install Linux alongside Windows on 5 of the computers to see if the staff can use it. Put it on all the computers if they can handle it, then you wont have to worry about viruses until your users start doing things as root and Linux viruses are aimed at non-server computers. The only reason not to do this is if you need a Windows program that wont work in Wine (Linux-Windows compatibility layer).

Mac's are for simpletons who have the money to blow on a computer they never want to understand. PC's are for... Well anyone not wanting to spend an arm and a leg, but don't mind changing the spark plugs, or reading a manual once and a while. But I guess if Windows stopped supporting all the different architectures, and components that leave room for competition that in the end, lowers prices. Then they might be better in some areas like... design or making music too.
The macs you saw were probably being thrown out or just used by secretaries at the client office. Any major film or game developer is using a PC. PCs are more compatible and cost-effective. Not to mention all the professional software used is targeted for PC (among all the adobe products the only one still being used is photoshop, the rest have been replaced by Autodesk products).
1) Games is not aout being able to run it. Its about the experience. You can BootCamp your best Mac on the market but it will never exceed the experience you get from playing on pure Windows PC. Being able to run games is not everything. You have to be able to run games at the highest graphics settings to get maximum experience. The 3D technology completes the true gaming experience. Do not think of gaming as just playing a game. Gaming is getting yourself to feel and experience.
@dklhs90 well it's kinda funny that on my low-end (cheapest available) iMac I can run almost any game on max settings except Crysis. It only gets better from there.
2) Work. Let me give the example of video editing because most Mac users feel proud about it. Also, we all know the Both Windows and Mac have Office software so that cancels it out.
Looking at the hardware specifications of Macs, we can see that all of them do not come with the most powerful graphics card on the market. This is one thing that makes me think that Macs don't really have the horsepower to work videos. asusrog recently released a video on a 4 way SLI of GTX580 graphics cards

It's widely known that Macs excel at video editing and media in general. hence why most professional video editors use Macs with Final Cut Pro and many music artists use Macs to aid with their music production. I own a top-spec PC from late 2008 and my iMac can do anything the PC could and more (thanks to OSX).

Honestly, life is hard and keeping up to date is harder, but then you just have to move on and live on what you can afford. Window shopping doesn't hurt. I am saving up money to afford new graphics card and a 3D screen. That is the beauty of life. If you can afford everything in the world there would be no fun in it. No sense of achievement. 2) This set up with an intel i7 980X extreme edition cpu will make video processing look like processing a word document. This is how much more powerful Windows OS running PCs are than a Mac. PCs have the option to replace hardware as new technology is released. This is what makes PCs superior to the Macs. You might say that the hardware cost more than the Macs but if you don't even want to invest in the work you are doing why video process anyways.

Fair enough life isn't about games. Also, my roomie tried to run FFXI on his Mac using bootcamp and it caused the Mac to have to reboot itself repeatedly. It's obvious you can't name 10 games SO name 5 things that a Mac can do that a Windows PC cannot.

I was just saying that Macs don't have whatever HDMI cable thing that some PCs I think (or at least I think they do) but you can still connect it to a HD TV's HDMI port. And I have PLENTY of games, movies, and music, ect. on my MacBook Pro like GTA, Halo 2, ect. (I use Windows 7 for games and Mac OS X fir everything else. It's pretty cool it's like having 2 computers in 1.

@Busegry Because you might want games from Microsoft like Halo (or other games only Windows compatible). Thats pretty much the only reason. And its also cool cause its like having 2 computers in one! I have a MacBook Pro 13" 4GB RAM with Windows 7 and Mac OS X Snow Leopard split up on a 500GB hard drive and Im debating whether to get a big monitor to hook it to to have a full desktop experience with a Apple wireless keyboard and a Magic Mouse.

Mac's are for simpletons who have the money to blow on a computer they never want to understand. PC's are for... Well anyone not wanting to spend an arm and a leg, but don't mind changing the spark plugs, or reading a manual once and a while. But I guess if Windows stopped supporting all the different architectures, and components that leave room for competition that in the end, lowers prices. Then they might be better in some areas like... design or making music too.

The macs you saw were probably being thrown out or just used by secretaries at the client office. Any major film or game developer is using a PC. PCs are more compatible and cost-effective. Not to mention all the professional software used is targeted for PC (among all the adobe products the only one still being used is photoshop, the rest have been replaced by Autodesk products).

1) Macs have plenty of games for them, and for the Windows only games there's BootCamp (therefore running any PC game on a Mac)
2) You can get your work done with Macs just as easy with iWork or Office for Mac

1) Games is not aout being able to run it. Its about the experience. You can BootCamp your best Mac on the market but it will never exceed the experience you get from playing on pure Windows PC. Being able to run games is not everything. You have to be able to run games at the highest graphics settings to get maximum experience. The 3D technology completes the true gaming experience. Do not think of gaming as just playing a game. Gaming is getting yourself to feel and experience.

2) Work. Let me give the example of video editing because most Mac users feel proud about it. Also, we all know the Both Windows and Mac have Office software so that cancels it out.
Looking at the hardware specifications of Macs, we can see that all of them do not come with the most powerful graphics card on the market. This is one thing that makes me think that Macs don't really have the horsepower to work videos. asusrog recently released a video on a 4 way SLI of GTX580 graphics cards

It's widely known that Macs excel at video editing and media in general. hence why most professional video editors use Macs with Final Cut Pro and many music artists use Macs to aid with their music production. I own a top-spec PC from late 2008 and my iMac can do anything the PC could and more (thanks to OSX).

Anytime i have a discussion on video editing with a Mac person. They always bring up that the Macs were always good at video editing from the start.
Have you tried video editing on 4 way SLI GTX580?
To be honest with you, even i haven't tried video editing on 4 way SLI GTX580. But one thing i am sure is that the capabilities of the card are far greater than any video card on a Mac.

Dude man. Am not a fanboy. I just like new technology. In fact, i even own an iPad because i just get a better experience from it then android. But it still doesn't mean i hate Android because i own a Samsung Galaxy S which now has the Froyo firmware and its great. Love technology.
Also, about hardware getting outdated. Think of them as human beings. People die when they get old no matter how successful they were at the peak of their lives. Things come and go.

I am saving up money to afford new graphics card and a 3D screen. That is the beauty of life. If you can afford everything in the world there would be no fun in it. No sense of achievement. 2) This set up with an intel i7 980X extreme edition cpu will make video processing look like processing a word document. This is how much more powerful Windows OS running PCs are than a Mac. PCs have the option to replace hardware as new technology is released. This is what makes PCs superior to the Macs. You might say that the hardware cost more than the Macs but if you don't even want to invest in the work you are doing why video process anyways.

Fair enough life isn't about games. Also, my roomie tried to run FFXI on his Mac using bootcamp and it caused the Mac to have to reboot itself repeatedly. It's obvious you can't name 10 games SO name 5 things that a Mac can do that a Windows PC cannot.

you wil find that every game made for mac's work on every mac as they are all fitted with the latest graphics and video cards.. 4 times out of 10 the game will not be compatible with your pc or will be slow, laggy and basicly shit.. due to your PC not having enough ram or lacking dedicated graphics

Are serious? Obviously you don't understand that Macs are not fitted with the latest GPUs and CPUs, not to mention they also have upgradable ram, before shipped. PCs (that is windows 7, since Macs are also PCs) have something called customization. I'd like to see Macs swap out a GPU to play Crysis. Oh wait, you can't play the latest GPU intensive game, and oh wait, you don't know what the hell SLi or CrossFireX is. Mac gaming is shit.
