@kuglagerfeld what a dumb fukin comment hendrix was not the first and as far as a lot of guitarist better why is he still number 1 on the rolling stones 100 greatest guitar players he was on this earth a short time played three yrs as his own band and ranked 40 yrs later as the best who beats that every guitar player has played tribute to hendrix
I think it was summer of '87. A friend and I were strolling on a warm evening along Bloor Street and happened to stop for a beer at a bar called The Brunswick House. Someone by the name of Jeff Healey was playing. Wow!! Was he loud! and was he good!! I feared for my hearing but could this guy play! I'll never forget the experience. I love good guitar and Jeff was better than good. When I heard he was dying, a little bit of me started to die, too. God Bless you, Jeff Healey! You are remembered.
I've been playing guitar for over 20 years, I still have NO clue how he played like that. I've tried 1000 times and I can't get one chord to sound right, he was def. one of the top 25 players EVER!! Rolling Stone magazine SUCKS for NOT having him even in the top 100!!
@faithycoins Rolling Stone messed up. No Doug Aldrich, Healey or Gary Moore. I'm sorry, but what kind of list. And in my opinion, Mr Healey here is better than Jimi Hendrix.
@SlowhandSolos I agree 100%, Jeff Healey should have been in the top 20 at least. I've been playing guitar for over 20 years and I don't see what te big deal is with Hendrix at all, guess you had to have been there, Eddie Van Halen, Randy Rhoads, Zakk Wylde, Dimebag Darrell, Alex Liefson, Clapton, Vito Bratto, Steve Gaines, Warren Haynes, Chuck Berry, Keith Richards, Bill Lange II, Jimmy Page........
@faithycoins Doug Aldrich, Gary Moore, James Burton, Frank Zappa...
All of these guys make Jimi look a bit worse. Hendrix is overrated, but still damn insane. I just think Healey, Clapton, Aldrich and Moore have their own league, with several close behind (Blackmore, Rhoads, Zappa, Beck, Page, Collins, Vai, Malmsteen and Allman).
@faithycoins Hendrix is the father of modern guitar playing. Of course, there are a lot of guitarist playing better than him, but still he was the first one. And it is hard to be the first one.
It's an honor to have the first post on a Jeff Healey vid! .....It's not easy to take a great song and make your cover version of it absolutely AWESOME!
