its quite some movie - especially that intro. section - i appreciate this kind of CRAFT of film-making, however.... for me tho - find the violence a bit in excess of whats required...it is really so necessary nowadays - to bring it to that kind of level. i mean you can still have the movie real cool as hell - without it being quite so off-putting at those other periodic ultra-violent moments. anyway just a thought.

Probably one of the best films since "No Country - - -" and "There Will Be Blood." He hand picked the Danish director. The music is brilliant...and is a character in the film. Absolute respect for Gosling for having the maturity as a young actor to bring on such a true director and make this film come to life with such beauty...

I get what you're saying. Eventhough I totally enjoyed the movie, it's really hard to say what I liked about it. But that's often a thing about art, sometimes you like things and can't pinpoint why.

I definitely think the music was awesome, and I think the complexity and believability of he characters was really good, and the scenery kind of looked cool.

@lunaticz0r Great emotion, great cinematography, great everything. It was intense without anyone saying anything. An adrenaline rush of a movie with very little lines. You felt for people and more so the story without people screaming every two seconds or having a gun go off every two seconds. The lighting and camera work was phenomenal, probably my favourite thing about the movie. If you've ever watched or liked a Clint Eastwood movie, you'd understand why people liked Drive.

@netskot i don't know. i'm going to watch it again. i just read the book, which provides a lot of the back story. the soundtrack just seemed off to me, but maybe when i watch it again, it will come together. collateral wasn't mann's best, but i enjoyed it. hard to compare the two movies though. both movies were GREAT and showing L.A. and nights scenes in La La land. be interesting to watch them as a double feature :)

What makes this great is that it is different. A movie where the director hasn't felt the need to fill every second with dialogue. The awkward silent moments just add to the greatness and enhance the understanding his social ineptness. The 80's theme and blade runner style nighttime cityscapes just makes this even more cool.......
