Everyone who tried to emulate Delgado that is absolutely true. Delgado blows them out of the water.
Simm however is playing with completely different archetypes of villainy & is essentially a completely different character. They're really not comparable.
I think they're all good in their own ways. I don't think there's anything wrong with having a different version of the master and really if each version of the master had the exact same personality then what would be the point of him regenerating?
They're playing completely different characters who just happen to be the same Time Lord (which basically means they have the same memories & little more). I really don't see how you can make the comparison. They are both great in their respective roles.
He's loads better than everybody. The only thing I might have any problem with is that a lot of his stories - all of them I can think of with Jon Pertwee - seem to end up with him getting out of his depth and begging the Doctor for help with whichever alien menace he's teamed up with and been betrayed by.
But I love him regardless, because he's just so darn suave and nasty :D
Colony in Spaced is not on DVD and is has not been on VHS for ages. Therefore the only way a lot of us can watch this & other vintage Doctor Who episodes, is to watch them where ever we can find them
They're only the same out of the box, in scenes on Galifrey. Both the Master and the Doctor had several years to do their own modifications after stealing them. The Doctor's becomes either cool or cozy, while the Master's becomes more basic - a reflection of their personalities and affluence.

Wow, a commercial that's actually funny O.o

the master and doctor were always two sides of the same coin. they were so alike in personality and interlect but always opposite in moral`s
Delgado`s master was the perfect foil for Pertwee`s doctor.
simm`s master is the dark reflection of tennent`s 10th doctor.

Delgado was The Master.
No one else could ever come close to his portrayal.

@paulbottomley42 I can see where you're coming from here, but one perk - Delgado's Master also had creative ways of escaping the Doctor's capture.

Erm if you had bothered to watch the whole story you would know that the Master disguised his TARDIS as a large spaceship!
borgduck 3 years ago

It was in the future, they probably didnt find it very abnormal or something like that...
HappiHatesBBC 3 years ago
As I mentioned before the Masters TARDIS was disguised as a regular spaceship not a policebox so it is understandable that they don't notice.
