Even if you grow it in your garden, bugs defecate and passing animals urinate on it. When preparing it for eating or cooking, cut open fruits and vegetables and inspect them for grubs. this is wrong. if you want fruit, go and buy it or grow YOUR OWN tree. even if people have an over abundance of fruit on their trees it IS NOT OK for you to take any of it without permission. you can say its over the fence its "public", but jeez do you really NEED the fruit???! not as much as a homeless person does. support your local growers and go BUY it and not STEAL it like you are showing here.

Always, always wash your food with mild soap and water before eating it, especially if you pick it from the wild or "urban" environment. Even if you grow it in your garden, bugs defecate and passing animals urinate on it. When preparing it for eating or cooking, cut open fruits and vegetables and inspect them for grubs. Cut away and throw away the part that was occupied by the grubs.

i live in Miami and have mango and avacado trees in my yard. i share with my neighbors and family, but about 3 yrs ago i shot a guy in the ear with my pellet gun, all i remember was the screaming as he jumped back over the fence and took off down the alleyway.

if you research into them, they organise a lot of public events, to try and get the community involved with each other. such as public fruit jam sessions, where people are invited to come and make jam from the fruit they picked on their tour. i think thats a mission-escq.

They say on here that its "legal" to take fruit if it hangs over onto the sidewalk. By their definiton of "legal" a car parked on the street would be fair game too. Personal property is personal property. These hippies need to get real.

Thats a poor analogy. A car is a specific piece of property. Stealing it is obviously illegal.
When you buy land, you buy the plants within the property borders. If they end up outside the property boreder, then they are by definition the not part of the property.
A fair car analogy would be removing a headlight, drop it on the sidewalk, walk away and then still expect no one to pick it up.

I have a Huge Apple tree and also grape vines about 10 feet from the side walk. People always come in my yard. You know there is a huge difference between theft, as in coming onto your property and taking pieces of it away, and taking something that is found on public property. They are picking fruit in parts and from branches that have clearly grown outside of the property borders. If it grows beyond the border, it isn't your anymore. Its the same as the grass that grows out of the lawn and into the cracks in the side walk.

You hardly see all the foragers in this video, so don't be so quick to judge. Also, middle to upper class people are easier to organize because they have things like computers, the internet, transportation and time on their hands. As far as I saw they were giving it to anyone who wanted it, including 'hobos' and 'crackheads'.
