Remove the glove box and you should be able to access a plastic panel that pops off to reveal the cabin air filter which will slide out. Judging by how the motor is mounted, the fan appears to be directly underneath the filter sucking air from the top down like it is on our 07 Toyota Highlander. Shine a flashlight into the slot where the filter goes and you should be able to see the squirrel wheel fan; check to make sure nothing is stuck in there or if any of the blades are broken.
I have a work truck that sounds like that. I didn't even know they put filters in car A/C units. I'll have to look for that.
