This song was recorded before 1968. I recognize it as having been used in NFL Films' landmark "They Call It Pro Football," which was released in the spring of '67.
@marquettefootball When the Raiders blitzed, he pitched short passes over the middle to his tight end, Marv Fleming. But more often than not, he handed the ball off to fullback Ben Wilson, who responded by gaining 65 yards. Wilson wasn't supposed to start, but he did and he was the game's leading rusher. Wilson also provided the only drama that the game produced, when he spent the 4th quarter on the sidelines searching for...a lost contact lens.
@MrMatt8204 The voice guy (not Facenda) who did that narration put more drama into his voice saying the words "a lost contact lens" than there was drama in that whole game.
@MrMatt8204@marquettefootball@STP43FAN1 The narrator for the Super Bowl II highlight film was Bill Woodson. He of the very deep, smoky voice, Woodson also narrated the original 1967 NFL Championship ("Ice Bowl") highlight film...."the halftime show was cancelled due to the extreme cold". He ALSO was the longtime narrator of the "Super Friends" cartoon.
This is awesome! Yet another dream-come-true track from the KPM vaults that was featured in the NFL Films' Super Bowl 2 highlights film. Thank you for uploading! I've been looking for these tracks for years.
Spiderman baby! I can picture the "Master Technician" sneaking into the Nuclear reactor and bolting the door behind him... Now to raise Manhattan to the sky!
I have a lot more left to post. I first got interested in Syd Dale (as well as David Lindup, Johnny Hawkworth, Keith Mansfield etc.) because I found that they did library music that was used in the old "Spiderman" animated TV show of the late 60's. I found out about the KPM 1000 series and looked around for sources. Some people had original albums and ripped the tracks and made them available on their blogs. I've been looking around and collecting for the last two years or so.
Frohickey...how the heck did you ever come-up with all these great Syd Dale
arrangements? You may not believe this..but just listening to (these) changes my whole day for the better. Maybe even add-some-time back to my life ! thanks!

Fantastic piece ; NFL Films used the whole piece in the 1969 AFL Title Game
highlight film, on the Raiders first (and only) TD drive...

Great use of this track in the 1970 NFL highlight reel over George Blanda's streak of game-winning TD passes and field goals.

Super Bowl II: "Bart Starr...but it wasn't just his passing, but his selection of passes that made the difference."

@marquettefootball Was this the same narrator who did the '68 Jets-Raiders AFL Title Game film?
STP43FAN1 8 months ago
@STP43FAN1 Nope. They used NBC's Charlie Jones on the flim for that Namath/Lamonica passing fest in the cold.

@marquettefootball Okay. Thank you.

@marquettefootball Yeah, that always stuck out for me when I watched the Super Bowl II highlights as a kid.
I think that was the only Super Bowl that Facenda didn't narrate between 1-18. IIRC, he died in 1984.
