  • Why not make a video showing it with a temp gadge in a room and see if it really heats a small room than ill buy hundreds

  • that would be awesome for camping

  • I ordered 2 of these 13 days ago direct from Heatstick, I received their email saying we'll confirm shipping fee and then.... nothing! I have emailed twice asking what's up but have received no reply! So, nice little heater but the company marketing them can't deliver. Shame.

  • @THEharperizer

Sorry about that. your ordered from England and the shipping cart did not calculate your shipping fees AND your Payment through PayPal via credit card was NOT approved. Meanwhile our small company has been working hard to catch up with paid orders due to unexpected national publicity. The only email address that we use is located on the bottom of the main page . . . and we have not received any emails from you, but will be contacting you this morning.

  • @Fyrelight that's pretty shitty that you'd discuss a customer's order information on a youtube page like this. I was thinking about ordering one of these, but seeing how unprofessional you're acting.... maybe I'll just go buy some pots and washers for 3 bucks instead of helping you out.

  • @Fyrelight . . . . I did contact this customer and forwarded the shipping expenses . . . which are very very high (shipping overseas has taken a 50% increase in two years) . . . I also sent the link on the site that has the instructions on how to make one on your own. The shipping expenses were too high and the customer decided to cancel the order.

  • (I teach physics.) The energy this thing puts out can not possibly be greater than the energy the candle puts in. This would make a nice hand warmer, but it can do no better at heating a room than the candle itself. (Not much worse, perhaps, but not any better, and candles don't cost $30)

  • @DavidSChandler I get this comment alot from folks who do not seem to grasp the simplicity of the device. Of course it does not "make heat" . . . but it concentrates the thermal energy of the candle at human level . . . at table top level . . . a candle creates an invisible "chimney" of hot air (very hot air) that rises straight to the ceiling and then out of the building envelope into the environment. The kandle heeter tm Candle Holder retains the thermal energy within the envelope.

  • OMG it's really hot! go figure

  • that is awesome! i am currently working on building one of these.

  • This might be good inside a camping tent. Maby put a metal screen mesh around the open flame. Perhaps 1/8 inch hole spacing.

  • Bad volume, not clear what people talking about it.

  • wonderful!

  • Yeah, it stores the heat. More importantly, though, it converts the convection heat of the candle (which normally would rise to the ceiling) and converts it to radiant heat, which radiates in all directions, so you'd be able to feel more of the heat.

  • Heat is heat. Convection and radiation are modes of heat transfer. the heat from the candle is radiated out into the room, convection then occurs because of the temperature difference in the heated air and the cooler air in the room. The same process should occur with this fancy schmancy pot-candle, no?

  • Nope. Comparably little of the heat of an open flame will be radiant. Most of the heat will be carried up along with the exhaust gases.

This is partly why a wood stove is more efficient than a fireplace. It's not a perfect comparison, but the general principle is the same.

  • But I think I know what your objection is. Is the room going to be warmer with the flowerpot heat conversion? No. Total heat output will be the same.

What it will do is concentrate the heat and emit it in noticeable amounts to those adjacent to it.

  • I'm sort of confused about what exactly this product does. I mean, lets say the candle emits x joules of energy in the form of heat. That heat energy is absorbed by the environment regardless of whether or not there is a thermal storage device. Is this just to emit the heat more slowly?

  • I came across the Kandle Heeter while reading unrelated articles on the magnetic poles

This is really neat - perfect for when those winter storms knocks out power. Though it looks a bit hippie-ish, I bet it could be painted with BBQ or engine paint (heat resistant), or you could replace the outer terracotta pot with one that's embossed with grapes, or something more decorative.

  • I just started tinkering with building a candle heater myself and ran into this. Have been reading about your device. Very cool!

  • how about using a hydrogen generator and make a a hydrogen flame to heat the steel thread bolt instead of a candle i will be trying this ill make my own

  • Wow! nice video. I have a kandle heeter and i am really impressed with the design. not only does it keep me warm but it looks nice in my home :) They're also really affordable so i will be buying some as christmas gifts this year!!! The Kandle Heeter.. IT'S HOT!!!

  • Thank you Mary. Always a joy to hear from a happy camper.
