I lived above Brace Park in Burbank back in 94. I went to the top of my cul-de-sac and saw all of Burbank dark, and you could see fires popping up in a few spots. I remember my dad saying "take a good look at this because you will probably never see it again"...
@MrNascarFan2011 Um, he got awakened by a f#ckin' 6.7 magnitude earthquake at 4:30am!!! You just don't go back to sleep after something like that. Of course you're going to be trashed. He always sounds like Walter Matthau or Bert from Sesame Street. By the way here's what he's saying, "YOU'RE SCARED YOU'RE FRIGHTENED YOU'RE A FRIGHTENED BOY! YOU MUST BE A MAN LIKE ME! FEARLESS NO QUAKE CAN STOP ME! BUT YOU KNOW WHAT? IT GAVE ME A HORRIBLE BUTT ITCH!!!"
I'll admit that Saturday night before the quake there was a weird super-thick fog that blanketed all of LA.
I drove down Beverly Blvd at 10pm and could not see 5 feet in front of me. No tail lights, traffic lights. street lights...Nothing! Truly terrifying. There definitely was no fog when the earthquake occurred. This crap 8mm tape does not do the scene justice. Okay maybe the top layer might have some fog mixed in but I've never seen any fog like that before or since this earthquake.
About 13 miles. Felt it very strong and watched transformers explode in large blue flashes from this window. Then the whole valley went dark except for a house that caught on fire. Looked up in the early morning sky and for once you could see thousands of stars.
Just wonderful to see someone post about the stars that morning, wasn't that just a weird twist to it all? Here it is, people are trapped and dying and the 1st thing I notice after all hell breaks lose is the stars! I lived 2 buildings away from the Meddows so I was at ground zero but to this day I'll never forget what it was like living in this part of Calif. before there were lights
The stars were amazing! We even saw satellites, or were they UFOS! Nowadays there is no night. Just a sick orange-grey twilight. F#ck these amber high pressure sodium streetlights! Bring back the green mercury vapor streetlights. Light pollution is the worst pollution.
