Even though Jesus obviously didn't look like this because he was Aramaic and therefore back then in Israel, obviously dark. Dark hair, dark skin, dark eyes. And not the Western ideal , blond blue eyed with a light skin. He must've looked beautiful....

I'm watching this on Holy Thursday night and it always makes the hair on my neck stand up. It moves me, it inspires me and it makes me so grateful to have Christ as my saviour. I have the daily joy of knowing that God lived within me and that I am never alone. As Christ said " I will be with you always, even until the end of time". How comforting is that in our sometimes very desolate world? Find Jesus and you'll never be afraid.
The loneliness in this scene resonates and haunts me; it's beautiful, at the same time, tragic. I think it goes to show that even the strongest of beings feel terror and doubt, even God.
The realism of this scene is that even though I was an Apostle would have walked with God in Christ & yet I would have been asleep with the rest . Looking back how shamed I would be for that transgression & yet He forgave them & gave them His Glory. He lives and so do they though they once slept .

The loneliness in this scene resonates and haunts me; it's beautiful, at the same time, tragic. I think it goes to show that even the strongest of beings feel terror and doubt, even God.

The realism of this scene is that even though I was an Apostle would have walked with God in Christ & yet I would have been asleep with the rest . Looking back how shamed I would be for that transgression & yet He forgave them & gave them His Glory. He lives and so do they though they once slept .

@ivlfounder I completely agree. I love the fact that Neeley is so small and isnt this figure of power and calm. He is desperate and without mysticism or deities present in the film, he is to us completely alone

IMHO he comes across as someone who has managed to live at peace for years knowing they would eventually suffer a cruel and humiliating death.
But towards the end every part of him that's human is terrified and just wants to live.
To make matters worse he's not allowed to explain fully what's going on to those around him.
The only moment of relief he gets in this whole song is when God at las does answer his question:

Im fortunate to have seen jesus as a child, ill never forget this for as long as i live and whats amazing is he actually looks similar to this in my vision except his robe were pine colour of white, also softer faced and was looking at me and reading the bible amazing vision, it was as though he could read and look around him at the same time. Beleive me or not, isnt the debate im just shareing what i seen.

@Whoever The greatest trick Jesus did was convince people he was just a man. No, wait, that was no trick. That was all he could do, without lying that is. He was just a dude. The whole Messiah story had been told by other older cultures many times before. Horus in Egypt, for one - A man/god born of a virgin on the 25th of December. The Catholics didn't clone the story, they adapted it to their monotheistic system. So keep using your God given mind and eyes and ears to block out reality...

I am not a conservative Christian but someone who looks for peace and serenity. Jesus message came from the Great One and through so many others. His story is the one that has been repeated and is so compelling that is why it's lasted over 2,000 years.
