  • Wow that was a lot to take in but I'm writing down everything & going over it. I'm so confused as to why hain & hai are in the same sentence, but I guess that will come in time. These lessons are so useful. Thanks!

  • i like his voice :)

  • thank you very much for the realy easy to learn hindi

    they are very helpfull

  • @avigail11

Hi, to answer your question. I have kept the language in these videos as colloquial and not formal hindi which you would learn in proper classes. Hindi in these videos will get you acquainted with the hindi that is spoken while conversating in bollywood movies etc and not the one which you will find in book. I may start introducing jargons in my videos but that's long way to go. Hope you get the idea.

    Thanks for watching.

  • IT WAS NOT EASY

  • why do you say "how we speak" colors, instead of " how to say colors" or numbers?

  • Gosh, I'm just getting down the colours for today!

    Loooove the background music

    great lessons ;3

  • @darkenedlovelife there's a decent chance he would understand because hindi is the official language, but it's not guaranteed because different parts of india have their own local languages, so when i was india we flew into one state where they spoke one language and then we traveled to a neighboring state where they spoke a different language, and the two indian girls with me couldn't understand either because they spoke hindi

  • remove the background music. Distracting

  • kabhi kabhi. <3

like the person above this post writing

    mere = my

    hindi

    hai = is

    "Is my hindi correct?"

  • use hai to represent a present tense sentence. use hain when you have a plural in your sentence. (or to add respect.

  • I thought "orange" was "naarangii".

  • I will help you in preaparing that

  • thanks need to work on it.

  • When can we work on it?

  • start thinking on the contents of the lesson and how to put it if you have watched all 5 videos you'd know what all can come next. it has to be simple and commonly used stuff or something people must know to start or be a part of conversation.

  • hey , i've got loads of ideas.

just watched jab we met, and am totally into learning hindi. so here goes

    1) decode scenes from movies ( as in take a scene , play the dialogue and explain what each word means , this way you can insert grammar here and there but still make it fun)

    2) make your own scenes. eg, talking to friends ( that teacher is soooooooo annoying , done the homework yet, etc) - i know you did whats up.. but still lets do more!) :D message me for more ideas.

  • thanks a bunch yes still trying to scratch sometime out :-)

  • do more videos please

  • movie scenes are copyrighted

  • huh ?

  • This is really awesome. I like all your videos. Come up with your next video.....

  • These are great. A little confusing for an absolute beginner when you get into the different tenses, but overall very helpful!

  • actually I'm studying in India.but when I speak to some Indian people they can't understand me in English .but now I'll speak india .so thank you my dear so much

I wish you all the best

  • धन्यवाद(Dhanyavaad)

  • Thanks for these, put me off to a great start. Hoping for a 6th at some point but for now these 5 will do :D.

  • I love your lessons......waiting for the next one please...

  • Great lessons. Thank you. When do you think will you post leeson#6?

  • Great lessons. Thank you. When do you think we you post leeson#6?

  • i have a question you say when is present tense put hai but why in " Today we are learning"

you put "Aaj hum seekh rahe HAIN" and you dont put HAI?

  • because we are talking about plural number "WE" we say "Hain" Hum is We. IF we talk about first person singular number we'll say I am learning. You'll say "Main seekh reha HUN" if we talk about third person singular number we'll say He is learning you'll say "Wo seekh reha HAI"

  • thank you soooooo much!!!

    really.

    thanks for uploading the videos

  • Hi there ur videos r too gud for a beginner.I m not so gud at Hindi but still I've a suggestion.U can include like for 'thum it should be ho,aap-hain,mein-hoon.You can be both 'thum & aap' based on whether the person u r talking to is yunger or elder rite?I think when u had a sentence with U,u just said aap.Well maybe in a gud sense to give respect to all :-)

  • i'm not sure, but i think hain is for present tense plural form and hai is for present tense singular form as "hain" would be used for "we" since "we" is the plural form of "i".

  • You are correct in saying that hain is used for present tense plural. We would use hain for hum (we), aap (you; respect), and tu (you; intimate), etc. Aap always takes the plural form! Hain and hai are the same thing. The "n" is used to tell us that the word is nasalized. Do NOT explicitly pronounce the the "n" in hain; say it as if it were hai.

Present singular would be hun and ho. Example: mai hun and tum ho

  • skukriya yaar!!

  • Your videos are awesome, I love them. I'm at an intermediate level so I know this stuff already. Can you maybe start some advanced Hindi videos? thanks dude!

  • thanks man i saw lesson 5 but is there a lesson 6 , i hope so im doing my best to get these 5 lessons , thanks again

  • WOW!

    Thank you sooo much!

Could you include more of how you build sentences? THANK YOU =)

  • All Indian parents should make sure that their children learn to speak such an eloquent poetic language. Namaste...Ye bahut achche theek hai?

  • Hi...thanks for the video...it was really helpful...do u also have lesson 6??

And BTW wat does " bil kul" and "chukriya" mean?? :)

  • bilkul means ofcourse

    AND

the other word is shukriya not chukriya which means thank you "shukriya is pronounced as "SHOOK-Reeya"

  • wonderful, thank you

  • yaar, tumhare video ziyada chunga hai, hindi mein seekhna hain lekin thoda mein area bura hain. Main bohot appreciate kardiye jo ap ko mujhe madad karna. Tumhare paas msn hai? Il be very pleased if you could???

  • a bit confusing, but I think with practice ill get it - it was a bit difficult without set rules (if there are any regular rules) about past, present, and future tense. Is there conditional?
