Its about your SELF! The Q is so that we will know what you are going to be like in the office and as part of the team. We already know that you are qualified or you would not be at the interview.

Are you and AXE murder? may be a better description of the Q. (No I am not) I am.....

@wrywest Probably it depends on where we live or what kind of job we are looking for, but I was really amazed with your "We already know that you are qualified or you would not be at the interview" I cannot agree less. Very substantial percentage of people fail the interviews professionally

This is very good advice but personally I don't agree about the answer being 100% relative to the position. Some interviewers want to get a feel for the person and get an all round picture of who is going to be working with them. So I think talking about hobbies, etc. could be included but obviously not the main focus of the answer.
