I think it's obvious Mozart 's 'genius' is evident in many of his works across different genres, not just opera, the piano concerti, and the quintets. Otherwise he wouldn't be considered a versatile composer...

MOZART composed this when his father Leopold died, that's why you can feel it. It is abosulte beautiful. I love it

This is the most smoothly played recording. However, of all Mozart's "violin" sonatas, only K454 (and certain movements in K376-378) achieve a fine balance between the violin & piano. The rest are really piano sonatas with violin accomp. Even this last one, K526. Some passages in the violin part looks like some grade 1 stuff which bores most violinists with ego. The piano just pwns the violin. Well, most ppl today argue that this is precisely the dificulty in Mozart's violin music.....

I agree, it's very hard to top Haskil/Grumiaux, No one plays Mozart with greater clarity than Haskil, violinists who can play Mozart are even harder to find. Why're they all so big on romantic pieces?

IMHO, Mozart's genius is in opera, although his piano concerti are great too.
