Aus alten Zeiten, als ein Pessimist in der Schlacht fiel, sie setzte ihn auf einem Boot mit seinem Schwert und Schild und senden ihn ab in Flammen. Gott Geschwindigkeit
why not an episode where aliens infect all the cute enterprise men with interplanetary viagra and they find themselves running around naked with woodys and trying to mount each other with uninhibited vigor...lol?
isn't it funny how the most homophobic people seem to be a veritable treasure trove about gay sex? i mean the encyclopedic knowledge they have about how two strapping studs pleasure one another is breathtaking and appears to be lifted from their own repressed memories or suppressed fantasies.
I seriously enjoyed this. I can't help but think there are a few moments scattered about that either don't follow cannon or "the shark was jumped" that keep it from fitting seamlessly into Star Trek: TOS. The attention to detail throughout was amazing. Really I could gush about this for quite a bit.. Once again my hat is off to everyone involved.
@bigger4life no fucking ass hole. GHod created Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. one other fucking shit I had to deal with is two guys having sex as a public bus stop.
all the sexual noise and everyhing. The french kissing and so on
Michael: Thank you for this. Although some say the acting is bad, I feel it surpassed that of the original characters in the original series. I can only hope that the script writers who worked on this throughout the time it took to get it into production and completed have been very suscessful in their field of endeavor; throughout their careers. Thanks to everyone involved !!! mpmikemp (Michael)
This was utterly enjoyable. I stumbled on it purely accidentally. Are these "Phase II" episodes still being produced? Great work, wonderful special effects, and compelling story (I enjoyed the gay relationship theme in this one)!
Star Trek went through several incarnations. Imo, in this incarnation the acting is still pretty awful. I watched these 11 parts only because it was billed as a "Gay episode."
I agree with other comments that in this advanced future gay marriage would be a total non-issue.
@alwaysuseless Agreed... though I didn't really think THAT was the issue... it was more the fact he wanted to get married at all AND to someone that was in the away team. Hell even the "was I the last to know?" comment could have been taken as "was I the last to know he was in love?" rather than "was I the last to know he was gay?" I think that aspect of the episode was done fairly well. They didn't really treat this relationship any different that any other.
@SuperDuckyWho "They didn't treat this relationship any different [from] any other." True, once the captain got over his initial surprise. And as you say, the captain hadn't noticed that his son was in love with anyone.
While I enjoyed this, it does point out one of the flaws in the Star Trek method of dealing with social issues...everything has to be overdramatized and made way bigger than it need have been to fit into the ST future. I recognize the AIDS analogy, of course, but this episode was really about a gay romance, and as a romance its...so-so. Wouldn't it have been simpler and more keeping with the ST optimistic future simply to have a ...
throw away line to a male crewman in a non-gay focused episode "How's your husband feeling? Is he over the flu yet?" and have it treated as absolutely normal? That the issue of homophobia had been resolved as it should be -- with the utter rejection of bigotry -- long before the episode?
@Michael123BooDog2 I don't think anyone's trying to pretend homophobia doesn't exist these days...far from it, the issue has gotten more attention as the bigots realize they're ultimately going to lose the fight and hardened their position/become more aggressive. Hence my suggestion to simply display the notion that bigotry WILL be consigned to the "dustbin of history" by the 23rd century. Had this been a male-female romance (exact same script) it would be called formulaic and melodramatic...
.... which can, of course, be said of much of Star Trek...why not show that the ultimate goal of acceptance simply HAS been achieved? I think that George Takei and his husband appearing on the BBC equivalent of the Newlywed Game (vid on youtube) and not once suggesting that their marriage was anything other than just that...a marriage...is the stronger and more hopeful tool in fighting homophobia and more in line with the ST future slowly coming into being today:
I LOVED it. Finally an unabashed gay love story built in a more accepting time. All the Treks depicted Lesbian and Gay characters very self consciously if at all, DS-9 better than some, and Babylon 5 better than Star Trek. So, I was glad I finally saw a realistic gay love story connection! Very affirming. It being Pride Month, even so for this lifelong Trekker and Dyke! Was glad to see Denise Crosby in her role too, and I was surprised how professionally done this was! Hats off to David Gerrold.
Very nice story. I've read Gerrold's novel and it's great to see the original Star Trek idea finally on the screen. One minor detail, though: at the end, when Captain Kirk says the real final frontier is not space but the human soul... It's a bit species-centric, no? Insensitive towards the other species on board the Enterprise, to say the least...
Astounding... such a high quality production as a non-profit tribute.! Thanks to all the people who starred and worked in production. Perhaps more can be produced with some assistance of the folks who make the conventions happen.
Nice also to see Denise Crosby... your departure from TNG in season one was something that greatly disappointed many of us.
I didn't know these "new" episodes were out there. I really liked this, and I thought it was a touching tribute and story. Bravo to Peter Kirk for not being afraid to come out, and mourn the loss of his lover and friend. God speed, Peter Kirk and Alex Freeman, God speed.
Cont. - So that, try as I might, messages and requests, etc. are beyond my capabilities in replying to. It's very annoying, because I'd very much like to accept yours. At best I can get onto my inbox page, see that messages are supposed to be visible, but aren't, just before my phone overloads. *sigh* My thanks for being my first sub. again though. =D
@Michael123BooDog2 No thanks necessary... :) I was thinking it might be the format as well. As it happens my phone is heavily restricting with certain things. I saw (and share my great thanks!) that you subscribed to my channel, as well as sent me a friend request. However, my inbox is invisible on my phone.
@Michael123BooDog2 Well, that's cool... I'm glad I got to see what I DID of it. Major props BTW on the overall theme of your channel. I'm not gay, but my sister is Bi and our parents were always supportive of it, thus setting a better example of tolerance and acceptance than most out there. I don't understand, nor do I like discrimination in ANY of its forms. =)
Ugh... Phenomenal production marred only by four words for this final segment, them being: "Not Available on Mobile"
I was able to watch it all the way up to this, part 11 of 11, without fail... It was compelling and strong. But for now I'm left to wonder about the last few minutes of the piece. :(
Could please someone tell me what exactly they say between 4:33-5:15??
I would be so grateful!! My english is not the best but I NEED to know what they say!!
Thanks a lot!
