Had never been to a metal performance but I came as my 18 year old nephew's wing-buddy @ Thee Parkside, San Francisco (asskicking venue, btw). Blackguard is touring with Belphagor and not that they didn't bring it too, but Blackguard made a fan and believer out of me... they RIPPPED! Blackguard, if you're reading this, you were so tight in every way. I hope your tour is blessed with great crowds, short drives, zero technical issues and that Europe is everything you hope it will be. Cheers!

Saw them in Atlanta back in September at ProgPower, seeing them again in a couple of weeks with Epica and Scar Symmetry, and will be seeing them yet again in May with Symphony X. Their studio stuff is good, but they are so fucking awesome live. Any show with their name on it is worth going to.

Went to Nightwish, then Sonata Arctica, then Ensiferum, then Wintersun, then Eluveitie, then Elvenking, then Kalmah, and two new bands like Blackguard and Amaranthe that I just found recently. the music is incredible, i love the combination of synth orchestra and heavy guitars, but the screaming vocals i just can't do. anyone know of good bands that combine the music of blackguard with more melodic vocal styles..? i tend to like bands like dream theater, symphony x, kamelot, etc.

I LOVE Ensiferum and Blackguard both, but i woud say Esiferum is better at expressing the FOLK in their music. I see blackguard as more of a power or "epic" metal band with Folk influences such Ensiferum. Just saying. :] But DEFINITELY Hail to Both bands from Texas.
