Wow, I was at this game and was 12 years old. It was my first ever college game experience.

27 years later and most Bowls are still meaningless.

Ironically Michigan's 1979 and 1981 teams were senior rich teams but finished in disappointing fashion. 4 losses in 1979 and 3 in 1981. Defensively both teams had a lot of experienced players.
