  • i never got to finish the movie, so does anyone know what happens at the end?

  • @DoggieAngel12345 Farinelli got his baby through his brother and his brother left him and went the army to give a freedom for Farinelli.

  • @askim925 what?

  • @DoggieAngel12345 What do you mean, 'what?' Is it surprising for you?

  • @askim925 i was just confused. like, did you mean that his brother got a lady pregnant and gave the child to farinelli? also, what did you mean by him going to the army to give farinelli freedom?

  • @DoggieAngel12345 There is a last sexual scene of this movie. That shows one lady(Allexandra) and two man(Farinelli, and Richardo Broschi-Farinelli's brother) had sexual ralations in the bedroom. And then Allexandra got pregnant so Farinelli kissed her abdomen delightly. But this movie doesn't show his baby. And the very last scene Richardo left the letter to Farinelli and that said 'I am going to the army so live a happy life with Allexandra'.

  • @askim925 ahh i see. were both brothers in love with allexandra?

  • @DoggieAngel12345 Yes, they were.

  • @askim925 haha alright thanks. i thought he had taken a poison or something in the beginning of the movie. so again, thanks for not just replying but also making things clear to me. =)

  • @DoggieAngel12345 I am glad that you understood clearly. Actually English is my second language so it was hard to expain. Yes, in the beginning of the movie, he was taking something. I saw this movie about over 20 times but that was a few years ago. I hope to see Farinelli again as a Baroque music lover.

  • @askim925 Oh, I think I didn't write details. Farinelli got his baby through his brother and Allexandra(I can't remember right spelling). You know Farinelli was castrated so he doesn't have the function in his body as a man. So he borrowed his brother to get a baby.

  • i love this video ahah I 'm a fan the farinelli (stefano dionisi <3 i love you xdxd

  • that is some intense forebearer of the mullet that farinelli is sporting

  • Why does his brother look like a barbary ape?

  • is man or woman?

  • Is that really how his voice sounded?? I thought it was a woman singing at first...pretty impressive for a guy to reach such an octave

  • @SLuMberMoOn7 no, the voice is not the actor's one. It's modifyed using some computer program to make him reach the highest octaves and sound in the way probably Farinelli used to sing. That's what my theatre teacher at the university told us when we saw this video!

  • @Naokosensei Yea I know its not the actor's voice... I mean't the actual Farinelli's voice :)

  • @SLuMberMoOn7 The voice of Farinelli in this video is the mix of a soprano and a countertenor made by computer, and it's not that good...

This, instead, is a male and real singer: /watch?v=bXdwGFEr09s

  • Well without the makeup he looks better.. but he sings incredible... in my opinion!!!

  • so handsome !!!!

  • @lizzy6572 WHAT the fuck. What an idiot they are not even close to being similar, compare a sheep to a stallion for god's sake. And I'm sick of the Cullen prick he's ugly

  • God! I love Farinelli!!!

  • he's been gone for generations. but never forget the Great Farinelli ! Viva Farinelli !

  • @lizzy6572 so sad :(

  • I have to say, Dionisi was a real beauty though a bit too slim.

  • i JUST NOTICED THAT ALL OF THE iTALIANS SHOUT THEIR COMMENTS ON THIS VIDEO SO I THOUGHT THAT I would too but I am only a third Italian.

  • Stefano Dionisi rende benissimo, mentre Enrico Lo Verso è monocorde come al solito (potevano almeno doppiarlo...).

  • He may be beauiful, but the voice is quite horrible.

  • @lizzy6572 OMG!!!! :(

  • that's horrible...my condolences

  • Bellissimo.I have got a crush on Stefano Dionisi ever since I saw the film.

  • sing to me James Franco....

  • they are speaking italian and french??...

  • he is hot

  • why is he speaking italien and farinelli french???

  • @Nahyuun In the 18th century it was fashionable to speak french. They are both italians nevertheless.

  • Not that this isn't a lovely sound, but could Radu Marian not have adequately sung all these songs? Just thinking, he has a divine voice and it would've saved a great deal of trouble.

  • who's voice was that?

it's not him that is singing, is he?

is there ever a farinelli recording that has existed?

    haven't heard of him

  • @DanielAlexis17 They digitally blended the voice of a male tenor and a female soprano to get the voice. Farinelli died in the 18th centry -- long before recording was invented. Lots of letters and detailed notes speak of his talent, and when his body was exhumed in 2006, they were able to verify that he was exceptionally tall (for the time) and very well cared for. Hadn't heard of him? Now you know the name of the modern world's 1st "mega singing star".

  • @BillyBobKumar In fact, the blended a soprano and a countertenor (Ewa Mallas-Godlewska & Derek Lee Ragin). The best for you :o)

  • @idaspe Why was his body exhumed in 2006?

  • @thebackgroundartiste Because some guy founded his tomb in an unknow place of a cemetery. I think there's some information in internet about that. By the way, it isn't one of the greatest thing about him..., there are much more interesting situations. The best for you :o)

  • @idaspe Yes.I know. Thank you. I just hadn't heard about that.

  • @thebackgroundartiste Because (in English) The Institute For the Study of Farinelli hopes to learn some about the physical attributes of Farinelli. So far, 6-feet 3-inches tall, relatively healthy, but with some long-term inner-cranial effects from his hypogonadism.

  • @lizzy6572 HE MUST DIE.

  • I´m looking for a score for this aria - i have one, but this is another version...Help - where can I buy it?

Ich suche die Noten für diese Arie - ich habe eine andere Version - bitte, wo kann ich es kaufen?

Cerco i spartiti di quet´aria - Ho una versione diversa - aiuto-dove posso acquistare questa bella versione?

  • @vonDali try the IMSLP

  • @lizzy6572 Hahahahaha XD

  • @Clau83 Hm, maybe there's something in it :)

  • I'm almost ashamed to admit how enjoyable this version is (considering the voice is a digital mix between a male countertenor and female soprano). Poor Riccardo would turn in his unmarked grave, lol. My favourite moment in the second scene was when Riccardo said his next opera would go down in history and Farinelli seems to be laughing with the viewer.

  • excelente !

  • why one of them speaks in french and the other in italian? I never understood that...

  • @indgiu

I was wondering the same thing.. I mean, Carlo and Riccardo are Italian, so they are supposed to speak their native language between them.. They usually use French to communicate with foreign people, because French was considered the common language in Europe.. Maybe Farinelli liked French best :)

  • @indgiu Carlo is just being mean to his brother

  • this is great, but i like Cecilia Bartoli's version best ^^

and isnt that somehow sounded like, he is choked? around 03:08 - 03:11 ?

]well idk tis just sound very funny for me lol

  • Bartoli's version is faster though... but this one is also great ^^

though i like Cecilia Bartoli's version best ^^

  • ich finde auch das der hauptdarsteller verdammt gut aussieht!

  • Bravi, Monsieur Corbiau, Derek Lee Ragin & Vivica Genaux… the cast & the crew! Excellent! One of my all-time favourites along with Barry Lyndon (Kubrick), The Pianist (Polanski), Un Amour à Taire (Christian Faure)… One thing I do strongly dislike is, obviously, the use of fur, the pheasant & the swan, the horses… If the film production were more animal-friendly… the one thing I find extremely abhorrent in the otherwise very entertaining Allo-Allo.

  • este video me encanta muchisimo

  • me gusta muchisimo

  • Why did they hit their rings with the wine glass? Is that like saying "cheers"...... in europe? I though people just clink their glasses together?

  • whoever posted this can you try to post the entire movie?? Puh-lease!!!!

  • qu'elle belle voix française !!!

  • @stodia Et beau

  • Da che opera è tratta?

  • @rossinianodoc

L'aria è tratta dall'opera "Artaserse" di Riccardo Broschi (fratello di Farinelli)

    :)

  • MARAVILLOSO SOI SU FANNNNN SOL QUAL NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAVE

  • ¡ ME ENCANTA1

  • @SuperHolaamigos siiiii esta cido bravitcimo

  • His brother is the perfect creep talking about women in front of him. I am truly revolted for the faith of those poor men.

  • @aalexmary well according to the film - and reports of the times indicate also - that Farinelli was quite equipped to perform not only in singing...... He just couldnt give children. See the film - its may not be all true (certainly not re their relationship to Handel!) but gives a good notion of the times....... It is available in 10 min sections on YouTube

  • @flowforms A castrated man is incapable of a sexual performance. That is why sultans castrated the guards of the harem, in order not to touch sultan's wives and mistresses.

  • @aalexmary

No way- some castrati had female mistresses because the ladies did

    not fear pregnancy.

    The performance is beautiful.

  • @65attila My dearest Attila the Hun, how can I explain to you? Regard this as a medical explanation. It is not something vulgar. If a boy has the testicles removed (Farinelli had the testicles removed by surgical means, not chemical) his organism is deprived of testosterone. An erection is impossible. He was castrated in an early stage, so his larynx stops evolving and in order to maintain his high voice. Such a castrated man has no facial hair and pubic hair

  • @aalexmary

Your pompous patronizing attitude is noted and I will not confuse

your stubborn head with facts. Consult Ms. Manners

  • @65attila hahaha!

  • @65attila Note it and write it down. As if I care. I explained to you in medical terms. By the way, you better ask a castrated man (during childhood) if he can have an erection, dearest Attila the Hun. It is a movie. Commercial. Made to attract people. This actor is for example VERY handsome. Farinelli was not handsome. They did not comply with the historical truth.

  • @aalexmary

Farinelli actually was considered handsome as we can notice from a letter by dowager Dutchess of Leeds from 1734:

    "Dear Duke

I must now give yu an account of thee agreeable Farinelli, who may say some thing like Ceaser; (...) Hes so civille & well bred too yt it makes one like him more, he askd me if I had heard from yu Lately, & often says how much hes obliged to yu. I dont know a word of news for nothing but Farinelli is talkd off. I think him handsome too."

  • @aalexmary I think you mean his "organ" not his organism.

A penis is not an organism... unless you were intending that as a pun, in which case, duly noted - harhar.

  • @GrlLeastLikelyTo I meant to write "organism". His "organ" is a part of his organism. And testosterone is not produced by penis. It is produced by testicles.

  • @65attila He had high speaking voice. He did not reach his sexual maturity. Don't mistaken castration with sterilization. I could talk to you about the castration in the adulthood compared with the castration in childhood, but I am bored right now. Ask a physician.

  • @aalexmary wait I have a question. I've heard of castrati HAD female loves but if they couldn't make an erection how did they have intercourse. they never did or was there some way?

  • @christianshounen101 Why don't you ask them personally? I merely presented the facts from medical point of view.

  • @aalexmary I was just asking

  • @christianshounen101 Ask them, not me! Adios!

  • @aalexmary Where would one find a castrato to ask these days?

  • @christianshounen101 I'm going to toss out a guess... they probably had the same sort of sex that two women would have, seeing as the castrato has more or less the same sexual capabilities as a woman.

  • @christianshounen101 I can also think of some creative ways he could rustle up an erection without testosterone, if he was really intent on getting one on... an arab strap might do the trick, or if he found some irritating substance to rub on his genitalia... although that might not produce enough of a blood flow to get it really firm.

I'm clearly thinking about this too much and I sound like a huge perv.

  • @GrlLeastLikelyTo Yeah, "huuuge' perv.

  • @aalexmary ...however, I only sound like a perv to those with fairly close minded concepts of sexual normality.

There's really nothing wrong with knowing your way around sexually stimulating paraphenalia, is there ;)

  • @GrlLeastLikelyTo I did not ask you about your sexual preferences or habits. I don't care! But do you use drugs?

  • @aalexmary No, I don't.

My views on drug use are much more conservative than most of my views. I think minds are much more precious than bodies and I don't want to mess with the mind I was given.

But that's enough moralizing for now.

  • @aalexmary

this is not entirely true. The castrati/eunuchs could perform sexual acts, only the result would be always a safe one. There are many contemporary sources about their sexual escapades.

  • @mistatomsom they could have sex, but removal of the testicles can also reduce the potency alittle, or more often, the pleasure

  • Poor Farinelli!

  • To castrate a boy is order o become a singer. Such a cruel barbaric thing. If someone is a great singer is a gift from God for a complete person. No man should interfere in God's creation.

  • I've been an exta in this movie! I loved it!

  • absolutely amazing!!!!!

  • Me gustaría saber de que acto de la opera Artaserse es esta aria. Gracias

  • that scene was shoo in Bayeruth in Germant. Besides opera hous, there is also two palaces and gret gardens :)

  • am I the only one that think the dude playing Farinelli is beautiful? Hahah

  • @crystalshayblack : you aren't ♥

  • @crystalshayblack he looks a bit like the late/great jeff buckley. coincidently buckley is probably the closest to farinelli you will find for an alternative rock vocalist. amazing voice...

  • @crystalshayblack nope ;)

  • @crystalshayblack hey love him too!!! he some how looks like johnny depp...

  • @crystalshayblack No, you aren't xD Stefano Dionisi is so handsome *----* What a man!

  • @crystalshayblack He's gorgeous!

  • BEAUTIFUL MARKGRÄFLICHES OPERNHAUS @ BAYREUTH!

  • Fucking love this movie.

  • ki e l'attore ..........qnt e bonooooooooooo

  • is this voice the one of mallas gowdlesca in the particular? or is it the male castrato?

  • Stefano Dionisi es tan bello!!

  • Ewa Mallas Godlewska and Derek Lee Ragin. The voice is Dereks most of the time. Ewa only sang the high notes, and they have cleaned Dereks faileurs. Ask Britney about the cleaning of the voice proccess. She's an expert.

  • LoL hopefully most of them sounded better than the recording of the real "last castrato" singer floating around, because I thought that was aweful. I've seen better on American Idol, which is not saying much. This movie version of him was no better than many other female opera singers today (seeing as how a female sang the part, would make sense).

  • I kind of think the real Farinelli probably had a better trill than this one!

  • Fantastic!

  • beautiful <3

  • Maravillosa película, una de mis preferidas junto a "les Choristes", no me canso de verla y gozar su música, ojalá se produjeran mas filmes de esta clase !

  • no is cecilia, is jaroussky

  • @ondhacero It's a polish soprano and a counterteno blended toghether.

  • The coloratura is not as clean as should be, but still quite wonderful.

  • STREPITOSO

  • what's the name of the song?

  • The film had as many accuracies as inaccuracies

sure the plot was more imagination than Farinelli but it had great production values lots of music introduced a wide audience to this era and this music

historical films are always bad offenders but this less than most because of what it did give the viewer

I liked the blended voices because it made people realize that castrati were not countertenors

Hardly a waste of time same kind of reaction to the Wagner film also served a

    purpose

  • Exactly. Many things in this film were not perfect, but it was all the same a beautiful film.

And it was a real hapiness to hear for the first time what a castrat's voice could be.

The blended voices were a great idea, and indeed, this is not a countertenor's voice, but a true soprano's voice, with somethings masculine besides.

And I never heard this anywhere other than in this movie.

  • No guys the voice is of Cecilia Bartoli a famous mezzo-soprano from Rome

  • @Northenger : Of course it's not Cecilia Bartoli! Everybody knows in this film the voice is made with Derek Lee Ragin's and Ewa Godelewska's voices.

By the way, even if you didn't know that, you could realize that the voice of this video is not a mezzo's voice...!

  • no, no is of cecilia

  • Son qual nave ch'agitata

  • One God,One Farinelli!!!!

  • They used two different singers and fused them together with technology.

So there must be two Gods!

  • I did not mean in the movie but then!

  • there is a brasilian "castrato" very well known, he has an hormonal problem so his voice sounds like a castrato: Paulo Abel do Nascimento

  • please help me!! i need the notes !!! i completly fall in love with it!!

  • Dang, thats hard cord tone change and right on the pitch each time!

  • stefano dionisi looks the best in this part, when he's eating dinner and fanning himself. he's so freaking gorgeous.

  • wth, his bro was speaking Italian and Carlos French...?

  • Certified Intergalactic!

  • What!? WHATEVER! YAY FARINELLI!

  • perche' non facciamo una legge che permette la castrazione dei violentatori.....!!!!! son qual naaaaaave chagitataaaaaa- lauron-

  • why did it have to end right before he throws the bottle!

  • the best 8 minutes of the movie! love it!

  • His voice is like a bird! so free flowing

  • It isn't HIS voice at all :-). Listen to a real castrate and you know what they realy sounded like.

  • Only one problem, the only known recording of a castrato is so old and that castrato was not even in his prime when the recording was made. Countertenors are the closest thing nowadays to castrati and they are probably nothing like castrati.

  • not only that but by the time they got a recording it was so past the times of castrati that he wasn't able to be properly trained, there are no castrati anymore, only countertenors. I have a recording of a castrati, i don't know if there is more than that one, and it is very old, crackly and hard to hear as well.

  • Moreschi was more than 60 when that recording was made, & he was a castrato who couldnt be compared to the best ones, like Farinelli, who was the very best

  • Moreschi was 44 and 46 respectively at the time of recording.

  • Same difference. He was also used to singing in the Sistine which causes one to rely on acoustics that those recordings don't provide. The recordings are nice for historical value, but they are close to useless to really know how he actually sounded in person.

  • I think the current closest is Radu Marian. His voice never changed due to a hormonal issue from birth.

  • Lol 2:50 wierd voice.

  • at any rate, loppin of your kids jewels is abusive and should never ever have been done regardless of how much u like the sound of the voice.

  • Such a voice!!!bravo!!!BRavísimo"""!!!!que bello!!!
