Another ugly copy of European buildings ... American houses lack so much in originality. All houses in this style are just a cheap rip off from the real deal in Europe. I'm sorry
@amisven You're an idiot. It was built before the Second World War. Anyway, Europeans GLADLY sold off their treasures to Americans. Blame them, not a woman who had the good taste to buy them and bring them to America.
@Jcsharitz First of all, you immediately had to insult me, shows already a sign of a half brain person. Second,It was finished in 1935, all the European antiques came in the in the 6 years before WWII ?!? I'm sorry but you are the idiot here, most American museums and private collectors are returning what American soldiers STOLE, and not bought. and you just write Europeans were happy to sell??? Learn your history before you make silly comments again.
@amisven You are a BLITHERING IMBECILE. Either that, or you don't understand ONE WORD of the English language. Do you think every thing the man hosting the show said was a LIE?!? What an INCOMPREHENSIBLY STUPID generalization.
?!?!? WTF?! This show was made in 1971! Rose Terrace was an impeccably perfect french chateau style home, with some of the most expensive and rare french antiques in all of the U.S. What kind of music do you THINK they should've had as soundtrack to the program?? Some BULLSH*T ghetto rap?! It's called "Classical", Einstein.......look it up.
@BigHrdB Hi, no don't misunderstand me. I mostly listen to classical music. It's one of my favorite music types. I'm from Europe and actually well aqucainted with classical music. I was reading a biography about the Dodge's when I looked this up. We live rather close to Matilda Dodge mansion and I've seen it inside. I know this is a very old presentation, 1971. Though she didn't have a very happy life. So sad. If I'm not mistaken the house is demolished. Too bad. Would've liked it.
I remember watching this on tv in 1971 and I have never forgotten it. I didn't know this tape still existed. Its so sad that even then, right after she died, they predicted that this house would be demolished. What a waste.

@dugyhoiser I remember watching it too. I was about 13 at the time. As I recall, they needed to raise money to pay the federal estate tax.
