When I say "better," I mean a better score. Except for the three situations that I mentioned, including only one pathology, bone scores will be the more normal scores on a complete audiogram regardless. If not better, equal to in the case of a sensorineural loss or if thresholds are normal. More energy is lost through the middle ear regardless. That's why air thresholds will be poorer than bone thresholds.
Bone conduction is usually better than air conduction. You are mistaken on the video. The only exceptions to that are: if the audiometer is not calibrated, too much ambient test room noise, or Paget's disease.
I wouldn't say that one is better than the other. Certainly, you can't get a proper diagnosis without performing both tests. A patient could have a moderate conductive hearing loss, but you would completely miss it if you only performed a bone conduction test.
@boomkatrina no,air conduction is better in a normal individual, bone conduction should not be heard after air conduction has ceased,if u have a conductive hearing loss then, bone conduction will be better.....he's right

Thankyou very much. As a paediatric trainee obviously not all relevant, but very good nonetheless.
