fantastic execution of one of most sublime pieces of music ever composed , not casual that this masterpiece is made by Rossini , Italy is the homecountry of music , the most beautiful musics and the greatest composers in history of course have to be Italian !1

Obviously I do like Beethoven , Handel and Bach, but honestly I find the german contribution to music art quite below compared to all the sublime & beautiful of Verdi, Rossini , Puccini and Bellini who are just of another level !!

I actually think that Mozart is pretty mediocre and sounds always the same. I totally prefer Rossini over Mozart. And Verdi over Wagner.

And I'm German.

But German composers have also contributed a lot to music and arts, beginning with Baroque composers like Händel, Schütz and Bach to great Romanticists like Bruckner and Mendelssohn to modern music (Schönberg, Webern, Berg).

But opera definitely belongs to Italian composers, not to Germans.

For choir pieces I prefer German composers, ie.

@lordtomxv in fact Mozart himself declared himself to be German, although at that time this was open for everybody who spoke German as only constitutional factor for German-ship. So from a contemporary perspective Mozart is Austrian while a historic perspective would tell you that he felt German and was in fact German. It's kind of a tricky thing. But anyway, his music is the only important factor in that equation, not his imaginary passport ;-)

Nothing like the magnificance of a Rossini Overtures. Every Rossini overture has a kind of musical drama all its own. Sometimes I think that G. Rossini put more effort and attention into his incredible overtures than he did in his operas. And yes, after seeing Kubrick's Clockwork Orange, I can never, ever listen to his overture the same way! See the movie and decide for yourself if you feel the same way!
